Had the misfortune of hosting the reception of our wedding at the Devonshire hotels. We were let down on a multitude of levels, which leaves one lost as to where to begin this review. The team is made up of Rachel "the manger" who doesn't seem to have any control over the rest of the staff or have even the faintest idea of what punters have agreed upon with her own staff. One the day of the wedding the marquee suite had a smell which was off putting to say the least. Our contract stated that we had the hall till midnight but as it was an early event we had things wrapped up by 7pm. However with only one event of sparklers (for which permission was granted by the team) in the garden left we made our way there but was shouted at by Peter, another member of our staff' rushing us off the grass the reason for which I am still baffled by. The dramatic scenes in the garden was topped by the scenes in the reception area. This is where Peter forced a guest (who was pregnant lady) and her 2 year old daughter out into the rain as they waited for a taxi, stating they needed to close the hall down. We attempted to contact the team at Devonshire via calls and emails with no answer at all. Not even an acknowledgement of their shortcomings. We would urge all couples to stay away from the Devonshire team to avoid all stressors that shouldn't be part of your big day.

Had our Wedding here in August 2021 and it was the best day ever. the facilities are great our room clean and Spacious and the staff are the most helpful i have ever experienced. They just made our day go so smoothly and enjoyable, they advised us that we would not need to worry about anything on the day, they will sort everything and they really did even something small like adding extra chairs with no fuss. Honestly i would go back in a heartbeat and cannot wait until we get invited back for another wedding or function. Thanks you all @devonshire House Liverpool.

Absolute dump. First room we checked in to had 50+ dead wasps scattered around the entire room. We were moved to another room and this room had no pillows. Then told they couldn't provide us pillows. You couldn't make it up its like Fawlty Towers. Add to this the fact that it's the middle of July and all the heating is turned on full across the entire hotel. Proper dump. Do not stay here under any circumstances. I would literally have preferred to have slept in my car

I was at the conference room for a work event. The room is popular for hosting weddings and other gatherings.

The Devonshire hotel is a quaint and old building that has been extremely well maintained and managed. The receptionists and staff are most welcoming and very helpful. Location is a bit out of town, can be accessed by bus from a stop just down the road from the hotel. This hotel is mostly busy, with a few parties and conferences holding in the conference halls downstairs. The room we stayed in was quite large, unusual for a hotel in the UK, with windows overlooking a beautiful green area. Breakfast was excellent, with a variety of options, with a staff on hand to meet your additional request. Overall, my stay was enjoyable. If you like a old styled kind of hotel, this comes well recommended.

Arrived here for an overnight stay on Saturday around 4pm. After eventually navigating the car park (surrounded by derelict buildings and a petrol station) we found we couldn't get to the foyer to check in because a large wedding party was having a photography session in the entrance blocking the way! Wet through with torrential rain we had to push our way past to check in. Then we had to push through them again to get to the stairway up to the rooms. Wedding photography in a the hotel entrance? ... Really!!! Climbed 2 floors with pealing wallpaper and flaking plaster to find our room which was clean but no towels and no hair dryer both of which should have been supplied. Looked for the phone to contact reception but of course there's no phone either. Used our mobiles to phone reception and request our towels. They apologised and said they would bring some straight up. After 20mins waiting I walked down to reception myself and asked for them in person. The receptionist reached under the counter and produced 4 towels (one of which turned out to be badly stained with what we hope was fake tan but could have been anything). The room was fairly clean. The bathroom was also clean but most fixtures and fittings are broken or tired and the tiles cracked in places. Sealing around the bath has come away so I presume the floor under the bath is constantly damp. Bath tub floor flexed worryingly when used as a shower as if it wasn't supported underneath. Tray with tea and coffee on was much too long for the table and so easy to catch and tip up. One of the electrical sockets didn't work and crackled when we tried it!!! View from our window was what appears to be a taxi junk yard and a small collection of rubbish bins and skips. The grounds of the hotel at the front appear well kept but the rest of what we witnessed was not. We will not be visiting this hotel again. Avoid at all costs.

From the outside it looks like a building from Chernobyl but I was quite pleasantly surprised when I went inside to find it resembled that of a run down old peoples home. On the plus side the 2 lovely staff that I got to meet were very helpful and friendly .

I would like to give this more starts. The room is not in the best shape. The ceiling has what looks lit water damage. The bathroom tub/shower glass is falling off. The light switches are behind the beds headboard. I did like that the staff warned a few bikers that they had a few motorcycle stolen in the past week. And there was a few that was almost stolen last night. So I would think that would say hey lets do one of two things. Get a night security watch or have a place to lock the bucks over night and someone from the front desk would have to lock and unlock the secure lot.

It's always nice to have a wedding at The Devonshire House Hotel. Holding the door and minding the photographer's camera and people say i can't do two things at once 😁

Attended a wedding reception, clean everywhere, could do with better signposts on main road as you seem to enter thru a petrol station , many passed and had to turn back to find entrance, helpful staff and security.

My brother and sister in law has their wedding here yesterday...absolutely amazing service from start to finish!! Even with some covid restrictions everything was perfect and did not impact on the day...cant thank the staff enough for such an amazing beautiful well co-ordinated day!..the wedding suites are just gorgeous, and the grounds perfect for photos!... hotel rooms are a bit basic but in the process of being upgraded...once it is done to match the standard of the wedding suites will be a venue to rival all others A** worth a look for any brides to be!! 🥰

Great night out. Our party was 25 or so, and with the other groups there were probably 150 people. The staff were great, putting up with a room full of mostly people who were half-cut. The chinese buffet was so much better than expected. It was hot and tasty. 5 stars are well deserved.
