Very impressed and happy with waitstaff and drinks, but disappointed and very let-down with food taste, quality, and price. Everyone was very nice and the drinks had a good ratio of flavor and liquor to price. Our steaks were something I could get at a regular steakhouse for way cheaper and possibly with actual seasoning; they had no presentation save for a gaudy name-stamp of the restaurant in huge letters along the top of the very large plate. The filet mignon was unflavored and was served with a sauce that was not to my taste; the server was kind enough to get me some of the glaze that was on my boyfriend's steak, though, otherwise I am not sure if I would have been able to eat it. I substituted the baked potato side for the special Mac and Cheese they make with imported white cheeses, but it had an overpowering smell along with flavors that did not mix, including the panko on top. I was very disappointed as I love mac and cheese and have to try it at any place I go to that offers it. My boyfriend advised his steak did not have any flavoring either, save for the glaze which was nice and light but applied too sparingly. The dessert was nice, but it was simple. I wish there were more options, but I do not believe we would come here again anyway.

Giving this 2 stars. If it wasn't for the food being so fresh and delicious, I would given it 0 stars. Restaurant seemed clean, and as mentioned, food was delicious and fresh. I gave 2 starts because service was horrible. And I can stay for a fact it was because my party and I are black. Not going to go into details, but the service my table received compared to the service the other table with white people received, were vastly and drastically different. We were nice and pleasant, had easy orders, so there was no reason for my party to been treated like 'less than'. Never go here if you're a black person, or just ask for a black server. Sucks that even has to be an issue today.

I am a regular customer here and I recently placed an order through ChowNow. I ordered my steak with smashed potatoes and they gave me a cold Mac and cheese bowl and then I also ordered my steak medium and they gave me the steak well done. I tried calling the restaurant two times but no one would pick up.

Had an amazing time. Very crowded when we arrived. Was told there would be an hour wait. We were able to secure 2 seats at the bar. Kevin took great care of us. Food and drinks were almost instant. Not only was the food fantastic but the drinks were great. We received text that our table was ready as we were walking out.

We drove 30 miles for 6 of us to celebrate our daughter's 23rd birthday, as this is where she picked. This was my 4th visit in 8 years and by far the worst experience ever. Probably one of the worst of any place we've eaten post-2020. And it was not because of lack of staff. There's plenty of people running around without direction. Just getting water to the table seemed to be a chore. Various servers bringing one water at a time? Appetizers were generous size and tasty. That's the one of two things preventing 1 star. Then came the entrees...what in the actual hell was that called. Same as the water. Randomly bringing meals and the last meal took at least 5 minutes after everyone else was served. Fortunately my Pork Loin was good and also prevented a 1 star. My wife's burger was borderline raw, not medium as asked for. But since no one came to check on us she ate it as it was. And what do you get for the poor experience? 18% gratuity automatically added. I guess you don't need to provide good service when it's automatically tipped. Want a 2nd beer? They must have went to Boston to get my Sam Adams. Took forever. Lastly, bring a sweatshirt. I love snow and cold and it was freezing in there. Especially being seated directly under a vent. Save your time and money, just go to Texas Road House. And at least they know what MEDIUM means and doesn't add 18%. I feel the lack luster service is a result of the automatically added tip for 5 or more. That's total BS!

My Ribeye steak and Martini were Incredibly awesome. Also, their coffee has to be the best damn coffee in Michigan!

This location is by far the best of the three in Michigan. I have been to the Troy and West bloomfield one in the past and the service and food was not as great as it was here. Our waiter was very nice and friendly and continuously checked up on us and refilled our waters. Our food came out at a perfect time and did not take long at all. The old fashioned cheese burger is always good and was great this time. The Mr Jacks crispy chicken platter is also very good, I would recommend that or a burger if you don’t feel too hungry. Everything else was good, and I would definitely come back here.

The food was mediocre for the pricing. I expected higher quality and a better atmosphere. We got the spinach dip and it was so watery you could barely taste the cheese and spinach and it wasn’t hot. Our waiter was Ryan and he was so dry, didn’t offer us any suggestions or anything. The broccoli was basically raw. The loaded potato was good, actually the best thing we had from the whole experience. 3 stars seem fair, but I honestly would give it 1.5 just to compare the food to the pricing.

i would give higher stars if it weren’t for the girl named molly. another table during dinner wanted to talk to a manager and i didn’t know if she was a manager or a high school girl. my husband and i could hear their whole conversation from our table. she just seemed negative and like she didn’t enjoy her job. food was great but they definitely get busy. i recommend a weekday over the weekend if you’re going to go here!

We typically go to the West Bloomfield location, but we thought we would try the Livonia location. The food was amazing! However, the service was terrible. Before we got our food, my fiancé asked for a clean fork (as they brought him a dirty one). The waitress said no problem. Our food was brought out and still no fork. We sat there for over five minutes before catching another waitress walking by. She kindly got him another fork. By that time his food wasn’t hot. Then about half way through our dinner, our waitress asked my fiancé if he wanted a refill on his drink (as it was empty). He said yes, please. We continued eating our dinner, still no refill. As we finished our meal, our waitress finally came back to our table to inform us that she gave his drink to another table, and asked if he still wanted a refill. We understand that a place like this would be busy on a Saturday night, and that the waitress has other tables. However, we watched as she made sure to check in her with her bigger tables. We both felt that because we were a party of two, our waitress forgot about us. Even though the Livonia location is closer to our house, we both agree that we will not be back.

I like to go as soon as they open OR early late lunch/early dinner to sit at the bar. I try to miss the crowd but the food is great so that’s hard to do. It’s a grown and sexy vibe. Great for everyday outings or celebrations. This place has dim lighting and lots of menu options. Sometimes I have difficulty focusing in dim lighting so if this happens to you just check out the menu before you go ;) I love the appetizers and the lunch portion of the Mr jacks chicken fingers and fries. The fries can be swapped for another side. The lunch portion ISNT on the menu but you can order it and it’s a significant price difference :) you’re welcome! I’ve included pictures of the meals for portion size ideas. I always try and leave room for dessert but this time I had to run. Usually I get a French press and carrot cake. It is AMAZING. Plenty of parking. Great attentive staff. I can’t wait to go back for dessert.

The food was fine. My salmon portion was not worth the $31.00 price. Everything was priced too high for the amount of food served.

J. Alexander's is a great experience, amazing food, amazing 🤩 service and the bartender made our cocktail's strong and to perfection. I got the steak burger and it was cooked to a beautiful medium. The shoe 👟 string fries 🍟 were just out of the fryer and warm and crispy. We got shrimp as the appetizer and just like the fries, you could tell they just came out of the fryer and cooked just right, not chewy but firm and both sauces were delicious, one was a perfect homemade cocktail sauce and the other was a sweet/tangy sauce. My girlfriend's salmon and pasta/rice mix was cooked just as well! The prices are a little bit higher then your typical bar food but it's well worth it, the food is just that good!! As long as they make stuff like this, we will be coming back!!!

Food was absolutely delicious! Prime rib was very tender and delightful and the Rotisserie chicken was very most and tasty! Server and staff were very friendly and professional!

Great steak. The chicken tenders are so juicy and crunchy. The chocolate cake is a must have choice. I highly recommend.

Appetizers (fried shrimp), drinks and atmosphere were great! Ordered steak (medium) and fries. The exterior of my steak was well well well well done and the middle was medium...don't know how that happened. Nevertheless, I would return but will stick to a ribeye

J Alexander tends to never disappoint. Wait time @ 6pm on a Monday was a little longer than usual. But once seated things moved along. I ordered the steak burger (Medium temp) with the fries. Dinner companion ordered the prime rib (medium well) with the smashed potatoes loaded. To end the night we split the carrot cake. Delicious as usual. Bathrooms are clean. And I enjoy being able to look into the kitchen.

Doesn’t matter when you go to J’s their food is always fresh and especially steaks, it’s one of my top 5

Drink and foods are delicious! My cousin and I really enjoyed the lunch as well. Next time I will try with steak! :)

What a wonderful experience this evening! The hostess was magnificent! Despite an extremely busy Wednesday evening, she was by far one of the kindest people I have ever met and handled herself and a large crowd with absolute brilliance. The service all around, including our waitress, was superb. The food, of course, delish. Cocktails were also excellent. Highly recommend!

This was an experience. This was like the romantic night women dream of.Huge thank you to Jessica our server. She blew my expectations out of the water. She is attentive and kind. The food was incredible. The drinks were cold and delicious. We had two appetizers based on a review we saw before we came in , the deviled eggs and the spinach dip very good . Prime rib & the filet was cooked to perfection. The Caesar salad had so much flavor and I was able to add anchovies. The chocolate cake was incredible. My husband and I will definitely be coming back for another date.

First time visiting J Alexander's. Megan E. our server recommended the Burger and Chicken fingers. Both were amazing and done to perfection. Will definitely go back and try other menu items.

Excellent quality service and food. Highly recommend the carrot cake. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well. Reservations are a must for weekend and evenings. Soft lighting and very clean seating areas. There is handicapped parking and access but keep in mind some of the inside seating is located up three steps into another area. Shout out to Desiree for her warm demeanor and superb service. She is awesome! Recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an upscale first date or intimate meal with someone special. Thank you so much!
