Dined at this restaurant to celebrate friends birthday. On first impressions the restaurant looked amazing, the hostess and waiting staff were friendly and accommodating esp as we arrived late (there were plenty of empty tables). There was a live singer which for us was extremely loud, unnecessary as most people were there to enjoy dinner, it limited conversation as we couldn’t hear each other speak ( the website does warn of this so didn’t feel we could say anything but for the ambience it was trying to create the noise spoilt it). We ordered cocktails, starters and mains with plans for dessert. Cocktails were mediocre, just ok. Drinks and starters came out fairly quickly however there was over an hour wait for our main, we had to ask for more bread and dips. When our main (salmon and short ribs) arrive both short ribs ordered were cold. After over an hour wait is was more than disappointing. The staff apologised and said it would be 2 mins which is was. Shame they didn’t do that to begin with rather than serving us cold food. The taste was basic… lacked seasoning, the bbq sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle and had no place with this meat. The meat was very tender but that was all it had going for it. The mash was tasteless. Anyway after waiting so long and having to fill up on bread we decided to leave it there and not order dessert. We paid the bill in full, couldn’t be bothered with the drama. As we were leaving the waiter serving us came over to apologise. I had to be honest... When we were waiting someone should have come over to tell us there was a delay in our food and to offer something to keep us going, the manager could have come over at the end to offer a complimentary dessert, free drink etc anything so as not to continue this disappointing meal. None of this happened. He said to wait as he wanted to speak to the manager. I waited as he explained and the manager came over. He told me that he would have to look into the situation from the beginning to the end… excuse me? Look into what? You can either offer something complimentary to encourage us to return to your restaurant or not…a little too late but to insult me with having to investigate!?! Makes no sense. In the end after much discussion on what they should have done in that situation he decided to offer a free drink. Too little too late. We declined and left. I wouldn’t go back. Honest review: Was looking forward to a Sunday roast here. Unfortunately I was let down by both the service and food. I had such high expectations for this place as it was newly refurbished but I was let down. Firstly, the food was okay it wasn't the best roast nor was it the worst roast. But I wasn't a huge fan, I personally thought it was tasteless. The service, the waiters were nice. But the management here was really poor, like extremely poor. We waited for out food for over 45 mins. I didn't complain as it's roast and I know it can take some time. But we did ask for our drinks which didn't come until the food was served (we also had to ask for the drinks). Secondly, we were brought two items of each drinks we ordered. It was quite frustrating. As it happened 3 times. Lastly, everything was slow. Taking orders, giving us our food and even paying the bill. I don't think I would come here again for roast, the lamb was poor.

Enjoyed an evening out. The restaurant was very glamorous! Music was a bit to loud for my child. Food was great! We tried steak, ribs ,chops and chicken skewers! I have to say the barbecue ribs was so so good however it came with the smallest portion of mash! Although a bit on the expensive side, this restaurant is good for occasions! Free car park outside the restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Really love to see Array back and running. Couldn't fault it at all. Live music singing motown classics really kept the vibe sweet. Really busy on weekends, so parking might be a little tough. Waited at the bar for a few mins till our table was ready. The bar staff were nice and fast too. Delicious food and great table service. Looking forward for a brunch date soon. Thank you.

The live singer was good, the food was good. I'd recommend the dynamite prawns and the cheese filo pasty starter. By the time I got to the main meal, I was already full. 4 star for service because when our friends (her birthday and her dessert) dessert arrived and we asked the waiter to wait (to pour the caramel) until our friend came back and he rolled his eyes. That was uncalled for because we were polite and explained it's not our dessert.

I went there yesterday with the girlfriend for her birthday, we had the Wagyu slider for a starter and they were lovely. I had the teriyaki glazed salmon which tasted lovely, and the girlfriend had a lamb kebab dish, I'm not a huge lamb fan but I tasted it and it was good. Knocking off 1 star as considering it's a restaurant the music was quite loud, also I asked 2 waiters for my bill and got ignored for 10-15 minutes until I just got up myself and requested someone else bring us the bill as we had to leave.

Wait a minute… more like wait an hour. Had a booking for 7:30; arrived and was seated about 7 minutes later. Placed an order - was told we couldn’t do any swaps on the menu (so as the customer, you can’t even select what you desire really😑). This was now about 7:50. Ordered drinks - had to remind them to bring it. Ordered a starter- had to remind them again. By now, I’m really HANGRY - the food finally came at 8:50 - got to the point I’m clock watching now. Once again, asked for sauce - had to remind them to bring it. And we’re paying for this? Bill time - my daughter told them to promptly remove that service charge. The only reason I did not complain was because it was a Mother’s Day dinner and I didn’t want to spout. Save your money and go somewhere with good service. 25.11.23… on reflection, having eaten out at other food places, I have decided to change my rating from 2* to 1*. That wait was ridiculous.

We came to Array for a friend’s birthday dinner and we had a fantastic time. The Sunday roast was superb. The icing on the top was Irfan’s service - he was lovely, attentive and patient with us, despite being a large group! Thank you Array

Had a lovely Sunday Roast here. The food was delicious and the restaurent was clean and was decorated wonderfully for Halloween. Service from start to finish was impeccable. Amy was wonderful at front of house and made us feel really welcomed and comfortable with our 3 children with us. Sherry provided us with exceptional customer service, was kind, friendly and went above and beyond for us. From providing food recommendations to serving us and finally going out of his way with his magic tricks - it was a wonderful afternoon which was made better because of his service. Would definitely recommend and go back again. *UPDATE* We have since become regulars at Array Essex and enjoy coming down as a family for the Sunday roast. What has been lovely is each time we come Amy (from front of house) is always so welcoming and kind. She always ensures our needs our met, for example finding a suitable table with our little baby & checking in on us during our time there. Our little baby loves seeing her each time as do we. She is truly an asset to the business.
