The food is amazing. We both ordered steak pie and Cumberland sausage, both a bit too salty for us. But the mash is marvellous! We both love the champ and classic! and love it came with the gravy. The staffs are absolutely charming and welcoming! It feels really great to walk into a restaurant but feel like you’re home. It was my friend birthday, they prepared a surprise birthday brownie for us, we never thought we’d be given a cake. That was really lovely! We would definitely come back for the mash!

I never review a place while sitting there eating, but for this place I have to. The food is amazing. The sausage is fr sh and flavorful. The assortments and combos you can make are abundant. The cider they have here is very good sized and are great. It is a small place and isn’t as busy as the other high end restaurants around but it should be. The dessert is delicious as well. We had the apple crumble and the apple and berry crumble. Both were done perfectly as well.

Excellent British pies, sausages and mash. Value for money. Very good portions and tasty. Many options to choose, including vegetarian. The desserts were also good. Didn't love the apple pie but the gingerbread pudding was excellent.

Who would imagine you could get a decent pie and mash with liqueur close to Covent Garden. I was expecting to be disappointed but was impressed. I was really pleased. Thank you.

Comfort food at its best! If you like pie/bangers and mash then this place is a must. Really good options including vegetarian/vegan. And to top it off it is ran by the friendliest bunch of people you could come across! The staff were all so great and couldn’t be anymore attentive. Will be back again! PS. Thanks for singing Happy birthday to me.

Might be my favorite meal that I had in London back in December when considering the quality, quantity, and value. We had a busy day walking the city on a brisk day and sat immediately at our reserved time. It is a small restaurant, or at least it seemed so since we were seated in the front room. Perhaps it was much bigger deeper in. Seems like there are two options: pie or sausage (bangers). I had the special, which was a turkey pie with classic mash (potatoes). This was excellent on all counts. The rest of the group was mixed with pies and mash or bangers and mash. Pictured is the sweet potato mash with mother plucker sausage and onion gravy, along with the classic mash and pie of the day. Friendly service, very reasonably priced. If you want some bangers and mash, you can't go wrong.

Amazing little pie and mash spot! The spot is fairly small and cosy but the food is great, and an absolute winner on a cold winter day. They have a good selection of mash and gravy, and some good pies (and sausages). Long story short, absolutely worth a visit if you feel for a pie! 🥧

This restaurant is a pearl of London! I was walking around Soho looking for a bite to eat. Over the past 2 months I’ve traveled around in 5 countries, and the food I had at this restaurant was hands down the best meal of my trip. The food isn’t too complicated, mash, sausage and gravy. Yet the taste was simply amazing! It was the best of a home cooked meal and so much more. The staff is terrific and the owner a very pleasant man. I would recommend anyone visiting London to visit Mother mash. I will certainly do so next time I’m in England.

In a word: homemade. This restaurant had traditional British food and it tasted good. It was comfort food at its finest. I ordered the mashed potatoes with cabbage and green onions and the British sausage with sage and traditional gravy. The sausages tasted really good and flavorful and the potatoes were delicious and well seasoned. The gravy was also very flavorful. I also ordered the apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and the pudding. Both were delicious. I recommend this restaurant if you are visiting this area! It is a sure bet food wise!

Really nice pie and mash eatery off Carnaby. Came here for a catch-up with some friends. I had been craving a pie for good few days and this seemed like an appropriate place to get some comfort food in the midst of Storm Henk. We were all very happy with our food. Pies and sausages were all excellent. I loved the cheesy mustard mash and onion gravy too. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Dessert was also excellent - would thoroughly recommend the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Five stars!

This is a really fun way to experience classic pub food. The mix and match provides a ton of options. I preferred my partner’s cheddar and mustard mash to my horseradish mash, but my steak pie couldn’t have been done any better.

The food here is incredible! We tried the bubble and squeak, cheesy mash, pepper sausage, and sweeter sausage—all were fantastic. One of the workers was coughing a lot all night, without covering his mouth, so that did ruin the experience a little. Otherwise, the food and service were both great.

This is hands down my favourite place in London for an evening meal; the food is always spectacular, service is fantastic and the price is more than fair! Ewan and the team have never let me down.

Now, I make my own pies, so pride myself in what they should taste like. The true British spirit and all that jazz. The pies here were delicious and scrumptious. The gravy was a tasty accompaniment to said pie. Never had the sausage but my daughter said they were yummy too and she is 26. The staff were friendly and helpful.

we tried different sausages and different mash and both agreed they were excellent. dessert was average (a standard sponge cake rather than a proper sticky toffee pudding, with a rather icy rather than creamy ice cream). service was swift and very welcoming. prices very reasonable, also considering the rather generous portion sizes

We booked a table at this restaurant but found plenty of available seats upon arrival. The service was extremely friendly and quick, the menyu offered a good range of choices. Situated in a convenient location, it's "reasonably priced" and serves delicious food, perfect for sampling the country's cuisine. However, portion sizes may leave you wanting more, we feel we could had more food on our plate for what we paid for. Desserts were particularly enjoyable. Overall, we recommend it! 🍴

I have to be honest: we came with high expectations, but unfortunately we were disappointed. It might be because we visited around Christmas time - but hey, it’s central london, it’s a spot tourists visit, and i don’t want them to go away thinking that this is what British hospitality is. We got a seat without reservation, that was good. We tried to order but any of the specials, including the drinks advertised on the chalkboards were not available. When we received the drinks we had to order because nothing else was available, someone had wiped them with a cloth, obviously well meaning to clean the surface but unfortunately it made everything including the drink taste of dirty rag and dirty dishes and it honestly made me feel very very sick. We ordered two different meals and a side. The side was never delivered and one of the meals was delivered wrong. No one asked if everything was ok, and when we asked about the side dish it was already too late as we had finished the meal - at least the part we wanted to finish, as thanks to the salty gravy we HAD to drink and thanks to the drink everything tasted of dishwater. When the bill came, the side order was still on it and we had to request to take it off as we hadn’t received it. And after all that, they asked us to give a tip. I don’t know what else to say other than disappointing. Hopefully it was only a glitch and many others have a better experience, but we won’t be back.

we were looking to eat pie and mash but had some dietary restrictions so went online and found mothers mash which offered mash but also catered to dietary needs bookings are a must and those without a booking were not able to get a seat. in here you could pick you pie, your mash and your gravy so you can make multiple combos. we ordered the black stout pie and cheese mash as well as the veggie pie with dairy free mash - both with standard gravy. the portion size was good and was the flavor - the pies were decently flavored; the veggie had more flavor than the black stout. the mash had little flavor so it was better to mix in the gravy overall a nice place to get a decent pie and mash

The steak and black heart stout pie was BEAUTIFUL, the mash was nice but a small portion and nothing special tbh. The pork and chilli sausage was overly spicy and the cumberland sausage was a bit dry but nice. The chicken sausage was mid. Sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cake were mid. Also overpriced for such a small portion - £14 for a small pie and mash! The service unfortunately ruined the night for us - we had a table booked for 20:15 and they didn’t give us a table (we had to wait outside in the cold and rain) until 20:50!! And we weren’t offered anything as an apology either. Also, the waitress was rude and very unhelpful (she was even arguing with the other staff) and it was impossible to get anyone’s attention to order/pay etc? Such a shame as I had high hopes for this place :(

Great place to eat a typical english meal! The atmosphere is very cosy and warm. You can choose your preferred type of mash (they do lots of different flavours), then you can pick your main (sausage or pie) and add a sauce. Definitely value for money. 110% suggested!!

My first experience of pie and mash on my first trip to the UK, and I was blown away! The food and service were phenomenal. Both waitresses were brilliant, so welcoming and got all our orders right, and even answered our questions patiently. The prices were reasonable too. And what's more, the steak pie we ordered had a long wait so they offered to replace it with the chicken pie and send the steak pie half an hour later, on the house. I've never experienced this level of hospitality ever! We hope to be back again, what a gem of a restaurant!

Recommend to go here before seeing a show. Such a great place, had beef Bourguignon pie which was their special of the day. Absolutely amazing, best pie i have had, champ mash to go with it was a perfect match and the farmers gravy was brilliant too. 15 quid for dinner in the middle of London amazing value. Will I go back you bet ya!

Classic English pie reataurant. Love their bubble n squeak! Didn't try any of their desserts since I just needed a quick bite, service can be a bit slow despite there isn't many customers but all staff are very attentitive and will check with you if you liked the food or to if food tastes okay (not all restaurants asks diner that question anymore recently)

We were out in search of a good English meal when we found MotherMash. The food and service was excellent! We had a steak & blackheart stout pie, the chicken mushroom and bacon pie, and the Cumberland sausages with cheesy mashed potatoes. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding. From beginning to end, everything was top notch. I can't wait to visit again soon. Cheers!

The best comfort food I’ve had in a while! Staff is absolutely charming and it feels great to walk into a restaurant and feel the warmth of their welcome. The food is a typical British comfort food mash. The gravy is waw and the potatoes are just delicious. I had the vegetarian option and it was great! The menu allows you to chose from different kinds of mash, of sausages and gravy. I recommend you go there for a nice break from the outside crowd. Thank you for this lovely meal

I had my share of meat pies traveling around the British Isles but this is the one I’m still thinking about! The onion gravy was phenomenal - I’m trying to recreate it at home, seriously I can’t stop thinking about it. The apple pie dessert was also very good. Eating here was a highlight of the London leg of our trip and I look forward to returning one day!

Traditional British food with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Enjoyed the mushroom and ale pie with diary free mash. & toffee pudding for dessert! Service was great and we enjoyed people watching during our 20ish min wait for good (granted, it was packed!)

Great food. Got to eat quick otherwise gravy will be cold. Very friendly staff and manager delivered great service when we got the wrong sausage. She gave us the correct one. Great background music (RnB)

After having read a number of other reviews around service I was pleasantly surprised by the experience me and my friend had. We were welcomed and offered a table within the restaurant on arrival (a Monday evening) and the waitress supported us by taking us through the menu. We both ended up with sausage and mash and can say pretty much whatever mash you go for you won’t be disappointed (we ordered extra mash because we wanted to try it not because the portions were lacking) - I was full up for days. I can really recommend the bubble and squeak as the texture is divine with the meal. I really enjoyed the farmhouse gravy but it could be a little spicy for those with a narrower pallet. I personally wasn’t so keen on the parsley sauce gravy as it was a little runny but that’s a personal preference. I just wish there was opportunity to have a tasting session of mash (yummy!) All in all, would recommend.

So the food was good, the system is nice: you have a price where you choose a mash + type of sausage + gravy, although this evening they only had 2 types of sausage so we didn't have much choice. The Mash I choosed didn't have the particular flavour I was expecting, it was almost regular. But after all it was a good English food experience!

Small little place that serves British pies or sausages with mash and gravy in the middle of soho in Kingly Court. The portion will leave you full. Personally for me the concept is great if you are looking for a very British meal that is affordable. However I felt the execution on the night we visited maybe needed some thought. When we arrived at 6:30pm on a Monday night they only had 3 of their sausage options and didn’t have any of the steak pies. There was no ice for drinks and the fridge wasn’t working so we drank room temperature ciders/beers. It worked out to be about £20 each for dinner which I thought was reasonable. I am unsure if I would be back but that’s purely as this sort of food is not my first choice. The food was delicious so I would recommend it for the person who wants a quick bite to eat and a lover of a sturdy meal.

The steak pie was sumptuous. The gravy had a perfect viscosity, not too creamy and not too liquidy. Also tasted great without being overpowering. Pie was crispy and meshed well with the pie cooked a bit well done. The chicken pie was tasty, although the chicken was slightly dry. The ginger beer (non alcoholic) tasted exactly like a liquid version of ginger. It was fairly good. Great place to stop at in Soho if you grace good old fashioned pie and mash.
