What an incredible tasting menu with wine pairings for a reasonable price given its on the Michelin Guide! While every plate had its own style, flavor, and presentation, my favorite had to be the savory meat dishes. Each wine pairing went perfectly with each course as well. The only thing is we were seated close to the front door. Next time, I'm hoping to sit in the back garden.

My partner and I visited Casa Fofo on a friday evening for my 32nd birthday. We had a 9 course set menu and chose the wine pairing to go with it. The food was incredible. Flavours that I hadn't imagined existed and preparations that you simply wouldn't attempt at home. Every course had something new to offer, new tastes, new preparations, new experiences. I am by no means a foodie but this experience definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities of a genuinely well-crafted meal in the right environment. The venue may be small (only 12 seats in the main section of the restaurant, 6 tables of 2), but there is no issue with space or noise. It felt like we were having a meal to ourselves. I found myself halfway through dinner realising that we were at a restaurant with others. The background music was at a perfect volume. The wine pairing was great. Extremely varied, loads of different wines, including one brewed by the head chef himself. It was really good to get a proper taste of the way you can accompany unique, original dishes with wines that perfectly accentuate both the flavours and the experience of eating. The service was fantastic. Always helpful, always happy to take the time to discuss the courses and wines with us. Friendly and knowledgeable. Kitchen timing was immaculate. The kitchen staff were calm, consumate professionals. Overall, a great experience. I am very grateful that my partner took me here for my birthday. We had a great time, and I imagine it will be one of those meals I remember forever.

Booked at Casa fofo for my partner's 30th birthday and had the loveliest experience. Food was outstanding, all courses were so original and yummy, met all our expectations for a 1 star Michelin. The menu follows the chef inspiration but all our dietary requirements were catered for. As an appetiser, we had a fabulous freshly baked bread with homemade butter that was so creamy and soft. Was followed by a fish dish of the finest quality and mushroom dish with a special BBQ and beef taste that I found was so original. We were then served lemon raviolis and a porc dish that was out of this world. The porc was cooked to perfection at low temperature and served with the tenderest and juiciest bacon slice I ever had. But my absolute favourite was the desert: a special type of tiramisu with a truffle / mushroom taste. So original but also so good. The meal was full of surprises as we were also given nibbles at the begining, a miso soup between starters and main, a yogurt sorbet as a pre desert and some small cakes at the end. All of that very reasonably priced at 68£. My partner had the wine flight (6 glasses) for 55£ which he enjoyed a lot, with natural wines that matched so well with all dishes. Service and atmosphere is unfussy, with the chef himself coming to explain his creations and making sure that all dietary requirements will be met. Overall this was the best birthday feast we could have thought of, no hidden service charge added on the bill as with many london venues, and all the family was pleased! We can't wait to come back next time we will be in London!

It is twice that I have now enjoyed the amazing food at Casa Fofó! And each time I have been surprised by the creativeness and boldness of the dishes! 🤩 I quite like the idea of not knowing what you are getting until it’s explained by the chef serving the dish at your table 😎 The menu had the same concept both times yet with completely different flavors. Even desserts are just not what you expect, challenging your taste buds with each bite! You just have to try it 😊 I strongly recommend trying the wine pairing as it’s a perfect complement to each dish with very surprising flavors (and colors!!). I shared one pairing with my partner at each occasion and it was a great experience with different wines each time. I have also had a chance to sit downstairs in the wine cellar and upstairs with the open kitchen. I enjoyed both, while downstairs is probably more intimate, upstairs you have the opportunity to see the chefs put the dishes together. Finally, the restaurant has a perfect ambience, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere that fits the neighborhood perfectly. It is definitely one of the most interesting places I’ve tried and looking forward to coming back already! 😊

Went there for the second time and was just impressed and blown away as the first one. Each dish is incredibly simple and complex at the same time with your everyday ingredients tasting like you’ve never imagined that they could. The quality and the creativity of the head chef never ceases to amaze. This is an experience worth going out of your way for! Will definitely be back again.

We had such high hopes for the restaurant, considering all the glowing reviews, but unfortunately, our dinner experience fell short and left us feeling a bit disappointed and uncomfortably full. The wine pairing, in particular, was rather underwhelming and didn't quite complement the flavors of the food as we had expected. One dish that didn't quite hit the mark for us was the duck soup, as the umami flavor was a bit overpowering and didn't align with our taste preferences. However, amidst the less-than-stellar experience, we must give credit where it's due. The homemade sourdough bread was an absolute highlight of the meal. It was simply divine, and we couldn't help but savor each bite.

Casa Fofo may not be a luxurious fine dining establishment when it comes to price, ambiance, or ingredient selection, but it manages to deliver a remarkable experience that surpasses these factors. The tasting menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and the kitchen's continuous evolution of the menu keeps visitors intrigued and excited. Additionally, the restaurant has a great wine list, further enhancing the dining experience. This is a place that is worth revisiting multiple times, as each visit promises new and delightful surprises.

Amazing experience. The courses featured creative combinations with lots of fermented ingredients and some Asian inspirations. My personal highlights were the desserts and the butter that came with the homemade bread. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate. The open kitchen was absolutely mesmerising to watch, we even witnessed the making of the sourdough bread for the next day! All of this made our evening very special, we’ll definitely recommend Casa Fofo to our friends.

Had a wonderful meal at casa fofó this evening. The food was excellent, particularly the pork, the noodle broth and the apple crumble dessert. The fact that they have a Michelin starred tasting menu for £62 including service charge, is actually very good value considering the quality of the food. The server was very friendly and it's a nice touch that the chefs bring each dish over to the table personally and talk you through it. Would thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I visited Casa Fofo and were amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service. Great variety and fine value tasting menu. Exciting food with high quality presentation, service and inventiveness. I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment!

We had a tasting menu and it was a great experience with nicely balanced flavours. Our dishes included cattlefish dish, asparagus dish, pork loin, bread noodles, yoghurt and seaweed ice cream. They kindly took into consideration that I do not eat beef. We had kombucha drink which I would recommend and their homemade bread was perfect! + the interior is very friendly and casual and makes you feel like home, especially the look into the kitchen is a personal touch + tasting menu is very well balanced flavour-wise - the place is pricey with a recent increase to 55 pounds per menu (+12.5% service charge) but okay for Michelin Star restaurant

🔮Potential. The tasting menu was lovely.. but not adventurous enough for the price nor the ingredients. X3 stars also becoz - the final dish/dessert wasn't nice a finale delivery sadly. Both of us were disappointed. It was almost like baby food from a jar with an over powering cinnamon flavour. Just not good sadly. Like, at all. Some people will be disappointed with a single carrot. Some people will be impressed. As far as Michelin star goes.. im not super impressed. Money to blow on ridiculous experiences sure. Try it. Service was lovely. The waitress was very attentive and clear. 👌🏾 and the wine 👌🏾 the Red Cabernet was lovely.

Delicious and rich food. Satisfied also with the vegetarian tasting menu, didn’t feel like it way in any way lacking compared to meat option. Atmosphere sitting outside in summer is wonderful. This visit was a while ago so old dishes I presume.

Certainly an experience, warm and cozy inside despite the door opening so many times with cold air. I found the dishes made sense together and there is a clearly high level of work on display. The chef loves fermentation and it shows. Would be a great date spot for two foodies.

I've been to several Michelin restaurants and this one was for sure the cosiest and warmest one! It really looks like someone's house, with a very friendly and welcoming vibe. The open kitchen is really nice and having the chefs serving the tables and talking about the dishes is a very nice idea. Food was mind-blowing. So many flavours, complex and well combined. Special ingredients and good use of techniques, to create really impressive dishes. Also the wine pairing was great, very interesting and peculiar selection. Finally, great value for what you get. I'm already thinking about coming back!

Took my partner here for his birthday. We both loved the innovative menu and the value for money is unbelievable. Will definitely be back since they have a changing menu.

One of the best value for money places ever! £68 for 6+ course Michelin star menu. What more can I say. Also loved how unassuming the interior was.

Casa Fofó in Hackney is an absolute gem! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The attention to detail in both the decor and the menu is impeccable. The dishes are simply incredible, each bite bursting with flavour. The menu showcases a perfect balance of creativity and tradition. The staff is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. The service is prompt, and they go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful experience. Highlight: The mushroom dessert (yes, dessert!) was a stroke of genius!

Absolutely delicious tasting menu and the kindest, attentive staff! Was gifted a voucher here and went for a Saturday lunch. Loved it!

Michelin-starred restaurant in Hackney with an open kitchen and an experimental and very competitively priced menu. Several of the courses were simply outstanding - one course was built around sun-dried tomatoes which were the best tomatoes I ever had in my life. All dishes were prepared with great attention to detail, excellent skill and were presented by the chefs themselves. Definitely recommend! Only three minor points of criticism: at least one of the courses was too experimental to my taste (the dessert featured a heavy infusion of seaweed, which was just too overpowering for this kind of dish) and there is no price differentiation between the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian menu. And the only non-alcoholic beverage other than water was Kombucha.

The restaurant is cosy, simple and unpretentious. They offer a set menu which can change daily, combining Asian with Mediterranean flavours, which just works fantastically. The service and wine were also great; looking forward to going back already!

We came here because my partner saw that they had just earned a Michelin star and wow, this was some of the best food we’ve had in London. We do a lot of fine dining and this was fantastic. Every course had a certain twist and was original, it was an amazing experience. Together with the lovely service and the great price - an experience to be repeated. Make sure to book well in advance, this will soon no longer be a secret - if it still is! 6/5! Edit: Went again for my birthday. Spectacular. Adding some photos this time.

Visited earlier this week for a bit of a special occasion, and can confidently say this was the best food I have ever eaten!! Absolutely superb! It really is gonna take some beating! Sat in the front part of the restaurant with the open kitchen which was really cool to be able to see all the food put together and the man himself working on the pass! Wine selection was great (didn’t do the pairing) but the food was just something else… unfortunately can’t remember what every course was but hopefully the picture do it justice… It’s a little out of the way for me (Hackney Downs v Waterloo) but it was well worth the 3 tubes and an overground to get there… I’m gonna try and get back this side of Xmas for another bash!! Divine!!

My partner and I had an incredible time at Casa Fofó! The seating area in the front by the kitchen was intimate and it was cool being able to see the chefs work on the menu throughout the meal. Each dish was really creative with execution and flavor, which we were really impressed by! My partner had the wine pairings with the tasting menu and he highly recommends it. It's definitely Michelin quality, but at a more reasonable price than some of the other restaurants on the guide. Definitely recommend making a reservation and stopping by if you're in the London area!

I will rate this place with a 4/5 according to my scale. Food quality: 2.5/3 Ambiance of the place: 0.4/0.5 Authenticity/ innovativeness of the place: 0.3/0.5 Value/Price of the place: 0.2/0.5 Service of the place: 0.4/0.5 Total: 3.8/5 Casa Fofo was a very interesting experience for us. There is a set menu which was 62 pounds per person. The food, especially the starter, which was a fermented haddock with celery mint and beetroot sauce and the pasta dish were the highlights for us in taste and creativity. The third dish with tomatoes and sourdough crisps were okay. The main meat dish, a 60 day aged steak, was cooked perfectly, but otherwise a bit standard and the eggplant main dish was also tasty but nothing extraordinary. The pre dessert and dessert were delicious and different, but the overall food combination was slightly worse than some of the other Michelin star restaurants. still, this is a great restaurant with a very cute garden and great service that I would recommend for anyone living nearby.

We really loved our experience here, especially because the chefs were able to cater for coeliacs with other allergies/intolerances. In some restaurants you feel like you're putting people out by asking if they have gluten free options, but here they were so accommodating. The vegan/gluten free courses were beautifully put together, and don't make you feel like you're missing out. We loved every course, especially the peas (took me back to eating peas in the pod as a kid in the garden) and the fish course (took my wife back to surfing as a kid in Cornwall). The flavours were really inventive and creative, and also felt sustainable/conscious. Also have to mention the general atmosphere. Our table was in the courtyard, which was lovely and relaxing - you could almost be in someone's back garden. Super laid back, but extremely special at the same time. 10/10

Absolutely loved our visit here. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course and wine pairing was described clearly by the staff. They also took into consideration our dietary requirements which was really nice. We sat outside on a warm summer evening and had a really special experience. I can't recommend the place enough.

I came here with my girlfriend for her birthday and I can’t fault it. We went for the tasting menu and wine pairing, which is incredible value for money for what you are getting. We were sat in the front dining room by the kitchen so we could see the chefs assembling the beautifully crafted, seasonal dishes at the pass. We had a wonderful waitress who made us feel very welcome and talked us through the dishes and the paired wines in an understandable, non-w**ky way. The bread and butter was a spongy sourdough with a thick, crisp crust, which was a perfect vessel for mopping up sauces from a delicious and varied tasting menu. The highlight dish for me was a small charred onion which was sat in a silky duck sauce. The taste very much reminded me of Peking duck from a Chinese takeaway - salty, warmly spiced, rich and moreish! Go here, you will not regret it.
