I'd heard about The Golden Chip from my sister. This was the first time I went on a very wet rainy ☔ Saturday night. The line outside did not break 2 or 3 people outside and 2 inside. I believe the owner was taking orders, very well organised and getting through the queue as quickly as they could. Now for the food, firstly was very pleased to see they had some veggie options. I bought the veggie burger for my mother and she enjoyed it. I bought a small and large fish and chips. Very pleased as neither were oily. My father said the chips were nice and crispy, he felt there wasn't enough fish though. That was the only negative. Overall the food and service were excellent and I'll definitely be going back to try other food.

This is my reference fish and chip shop which I compare to all others. Fish fresh with crisp dry batter, chips soft inside with good fried coating on the outside. Their bread rolls are propper tasty not the cheap burger buns other shops sell. Friendly service. There can be a wait but worth it. Spoke to the main cook who recons the shop is about 150 years old, so I took a picture of the old shop front that is on display inside (permission was given to post it). I actually look forward to getting my supper here. They also sell gherkins (nice with fisn n chips) and a few cakes.

Having done the rounds of the fish and chips circuit in London and Ealing, I can most definitely recommend The Golden Chip. Not only do they have a decent choice of fresh fish (including Rock which is delicious), their portions are generous, their batter is not stodgy or oily and their service is impeccable.

Came here just before the new year. Ordered about £60 worth of food for the whole family and I have to say it was all delicious. Chips were nice and crispy and fish was perfect with lovely batter. Chilli sauce and curry sauce complimented the food nicely. Chicken burger and battered sausage were also spot on. This place is always busy because you know you are getting good quality fish and chips! Also the owner was very polite and helpful and double checked my order to make sure everything was in the bag since it was a big order. They take cash and card which is good since a few chippies in the area only take cash. Highly recommended chippie and probably the best in hanwell/southall/ealing area! A bit more expensive than other chippies but definitely worth it!

My mum and I don't often get fish and chips, and when we do we've noticed the place we used to go to went downhill some time ago. With my mum's birthday tomorrow, we thought of going somewhere with great reviews, and wow they are not wrong! I thought I had to take pictures, to show my friends. Just look at how white this cod is! Absolutely delicious, so meaty. We only had enough cash for a medium cod, but we definitely will be back: this time for a large! The chips were hot, and soft. Just as you'd expect, but without being very oily somehow. Good stuff, if you want quality fish and chips look no further.

One of the best fish (haddock) and chips meal I had. My second time there. Apparently, the business has been going a long time in the very spot and passed to generation to generation in the family. It can get very busy with upto 3 dozen waiting outside. The shop floor is quite small. Not cheap, £13 for my meal but very tasty.

I have lived in West London for more than 45 years and i have witnessed the borough change over time, from being known as the Las Vegas of west London with all its Bars and Nightclubs, to being the fast food capital of west London. Food as a whole has evolved over time thanks to the offerings predominantly being restaurants that offer a take away service to the traditional chippy on every corner. However as our tastes evolved thanks to the exposure to the many cultures that now live and work in the borough of Ealing, and the introduction of fast foods from around the world, the more traditional of fast foods that is quintessentially British have all but disappeared. The humble chip shop is now more elusive than ever. However today i stumbled across The Golden Chip in Hanwell. A small British oasis in a desert of fast foods nestled in the heart of Hanwell at 33 Boston road, W7 3SH. the staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel like you belong on the set of East Enders with the nick name they give you so that they remember your order to the amazing quality of the food. Amazing battered Cod that was crisp and the chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. All in all an amazing fish and chips on a Friday night. If there is one thing that i would say to anyone that wants to visit, be prepared to queue as they get busy. They are very efficient and to get through the queue pretty quick though. Can't recommend highly enough. A must visit if you like your fish and chips. An incredible asset to the borough and its community.

One of the best fish and chip with high-quality food hard to find. Exceptional friendly owner with welcoming smile to make you food tast even much more delicious. This place has been there for very very long time and has always been run within the same family. Chicken nugent and the Cod are my daughter's favourite. 🙌🫶🙏

I love these guys, it's like the chippy I remember growing up, decent fish well cooked and proper fresh cut chippy chips..the type that stick together just a bit. Gravy, mushy peas, tartare sauce, picked onion, pickled ehh and roll/bread to make a chip butty if you want it, there's even scampi and some decent pies. Keep up the good work guys.

Absolutely great! Just popped in for mine & my partners Friday fish and chips. Highly recommend, I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl and it’s so nice to see that the family still operate the business. Customer service has always been 10/10. Keep it up guys! ☺️

Great food with fresh fish from Peterhead in Scotland (not far from my home in the NE of Scotland). Best fish around. Chips are perfectly cooked. Friendly owner and staff.

The best fish & chips in London! The fish is extremely fresh (delivered daily from Scotland) and delicious. Chips are very good also. Highly recommend— such a local gem here in Hanwell.

The large haddock was great and massive. The cod tasted great but we paid for 1 large and 1 medium and both cods were medium (alot smaller than the large haddock).

Went in to get chips, walked out with a fish and chips, cheeseburger and a sausage. Very accommodating, friendly and honest service, thank you.

I was on vacation and was in search of the best fish and chips. Me and my wife tried probably 8 other places, and there were some good ones, but this was the best that I have had in London! It brought back childhood memories of perfectly cooked fish with malt vinegar and perfectly cooked chips with the salt and vinegar wrapped in news paper. It was sublime!

Been coming here for years and the quality has been maintained to a consistently high standard during that time. Compared back to back with other fish and chips around the UK and this is up there with the very best. Great selection of fresh fish with moist and succulent flesh, crispy batter that’s not oily at all, decent chips, friendly staff who remember you, very reasonable prices and always a small queue so you know there is good throughput.

This was my first experience to have fish n chip. We were passing by the shop, long queue caught our attention and we had to stop to try it out. The taste of the cod, haddock was amazing and the same clubbed with batter made it just perfect. Staff was very gentle and they helped me to place my order as I was unaware what type of fish to have. So far the best experience.

Next level chips. You know it's good when you see people queue for 20mins outside in the winter rain on a Friday night. Nice Boss Man as well. Slick operation inside for such a tiny place.

Brilliant fish and chips. Family run and by a lovely family at that. Best in the area. We loved sitting down outside and finishing our plates.

Hands down the best chippie in Ealing. The fish is super fresh, batter is light and not greasy. Don't be put off by the long queues, they clear quite quickly and is well worth the wait.

Golden Chip always gets great reviews but on the occasions we tried it we have been left really disappointed. Soggy chips and very average fish. Not good value for money. Shame as it's so local to us.
