😐 First off, wifi is weak. Which isn't great since a lot of us use music streaming services. Seeing as you can’t get phone signal you are stuck for options. Some lockers are dodgy. Hope this feedback is taking on board and I'll change my review. Other than that over the years it's had improvements.... People often mention equipment, staff, good, friendly, machines, great, people, work, time, clean,

First off, wifi is weak. Which isn't great since a lot of us use music streaming services. Seeing as you can’t get phone signal you are stuck for options. Some lockers are dodgy. Hope this feedback is taking on board and I'll change my review. Other than that over the years it's had improvements. The new machine that does your weight and measures your muscle is fantastic additional. Syncs with your account online. The gym gets super busy so try go super late or super early. The residential parking is Monday to Friday 10am to noon so you can park the rest of the time easily.

    1. Incredibly clean. Even the locker rooms and showers 2. Equipment in top condition 3. 24/7 access 4. Low price and no contract 5. Great app & software where you can see the gym capacity I went to look at the local Virgin Active. They charge £95 per month and honestly I'd prefer this gym even if they were the same price. It's much cleaner and more convenient. It might be smaller but there's also fewer people so what does it matter? I'm not a bodybuilder or a personal trainer but I like to work out and this gym has everything I need. I can't see a downside or a reason for any rating lower than 5 stars. Edit: Unfortunately, due to severe overcrowding I’m no longer as happy with this gym as I used to be so I’m lowering my rating to 3 stars. It’s a pity because this branch is otherwise well run, but they are just cramming in too many members and it’s way too crowded now.

The gym should do a lot more to be COVID secure. Only one anti-bacterial hand sanitiser in the entire gym. Gym users don't wipe down machines after use.

Some of the "PTs" are a joke, very unprofessional/rude to clients (experienced it myself) and could do with getting into shape themselves first, very immature little children.

They offer specific deals, then overrule them, taking extra money from user accounts monthly; i.e. they change contract pricing without consent. Upon querying, one might be met with excuses such as "we don't hold T&C for each customer as we didn't have provision for that at the time" or "the member of staff who confirmed the deal made a mistake" or "you misunderstood the offer". This is corrupt and this is fraud - stay well away from this organisation. Edit: they also broke the Direct Debit protocols; when they falsely increased my fee, they didn't inform me and the original DD agreement made no mention of a price increase. My bank and BACS have verified this is a breach but the bank asked me to liaise further with The Gym Group. My next step is likely contacting head office.

The gym is spacious but a bit messy as most people do not follow the rules of putting the kit in the original place. There are just two squatting points for quite large gym (e.g. Caledonian Road has 6). Toilets and bathrooms are also a bit messy. However, it is 24/7 which is positive.

I have been a member of this gym for almost two years and it has gotten worse day by day. I'd like to say that I've been to four other branches of the same company and my experience was always great. This is the only branch with many issues that can't be ignored. The equipment is ok but it's not looked after. The management and staff allow the customers to leave the weights and equipment all over the place. The gym is super messy and not tidy at all. Some big groups take over the machines for ages and the members of the staff - when they are not chatting girls up - are just playing around with each other or they hide in the office. Also, in two years they haven't managed to sort out a decent wi-fi. Terrible. Now I just go to another branch close to my work place and it's a shame since the West Hampstead one is only 5 minutes walk from my house.

The gym has just reopened, after 10 days of a refresh, probably the 3rd or 4th time it's been closed in a year. we have probably lost a month at least of gym time and are not receiving a refund for the time the gym is closed .. from what I can tell, the machines and weights have been replaced after 6 or 7 years, however, the deco has not, the same flooring same paint on the walls, and far fewer pieces of cardio equipment .. the new running machines installed, are around 1/3 faster than the ones they have replaced with the same setting, leading to a nasty shock at the increased speed when first used .. the staff are unaware of this and have not been trained on the new equipment, despite the gym being closed for 10 days and offer no help on how to set up the machines to get the same work out as you would have on the old machines .. the cardio machines even though they are new, seem to be of a lower spec than the ones they have replaced, and have lower functionality and information .. the running machines seem to be set up in the measure in miles only, no obvious way of changing to Kms, all buttons have symbols and not labels, its anyone's guesses what they could mean ... there is no automatic cool down mode on the running machines as there was on the old machines, haven't as yet used other equipment, which I will do with upcoming visits, but the first impression is not a good one .. *****update****. the cross trainers are still the old machines as are the rowing machines as are the step machines ... some of the weightlifting equipment has been replaced but it is a like-for-like, most of the equipment is still the same .. the equipment has only been replaced if it was worn out/broken and beyond economic repair ... the price of the gym goes up, but the actual gym equipment is of a lower spec, which means we are now paying more for less .. don't fall for the marketing hype, this is not a complete gym refresh, and upgrade this is a replace broken and warn machinery and equipment exercise ... very poor health and safety standards, very poor customer service today...

I was surprised by the ignorance of some members asking to share the equipment in these times of c19. Some people still think this's a joke... Amazing! The mangement should start cutting some memberships bcs it's getting busy like normal times before C19...hurrendous !!

Very affordable and a great value compared to other gyms in the area. Spacious layout and a wide range of equipment / machines - most of which are generally pretty good quality considering what you pay for membership. The facilities are also open 24 hours which is great for people with difficult schedules. My main con (and reason for a 3-star) is that there is severe overcrowding during certain times of the day. If you plan to work out anytime in between 5:00pm - 8:30pm, it’s very likely every machine in the building will be occupied with a line of people waiting to use it. Most people working out in groups tend to grab equipment (esp in the free weights section) and hold onto it for 30-40 mins at a time to the point where you end up changing your workout schedule just to accommodate whatever you can get your hands on. I terminated my membership after a few months since my schedule only allowed me to visit during peak hours and the overcrowding made the experience more frustrating than productive. If your schedule allows you to avoid coming between 5:00pm - 8:30pm on Mondays through Fridays, this gym is an absolute steal.

For those of you who weight lift like myself you won’t be disappointed. Apart from savages not putting the weights back where they belong this gym has everything you need. - If you are into cardio as I am not then this gym is also for you with plenty of running machines, step machines and other things I don’t really pay attention to. - There’s also a stretching and moving section with padded mats that again I’ve never used but it’s nice to know it’s there. - The lockers are clean and large with plenty of space to ignore others and mentally prepare to go workout in front of strangers. - There’s also vending machines incase you forgot a lock or need that protein hit randomly during a session. - There are also clearly marked out safety things such as defibrillator and fire extinguishers. If you are reading this and go to a gym make sure you know where these are and how to get them out! Safety first kids!

Recently the Gym Group closed my home gym (again) which meant I had to go to another Gym Group location. I chose the one near my work. This apparently is more expensive than my home gym, so The Gym Group are charging me an extra £8. I’ve mailed them three times about it requesting that I not be charged and have not had a response to my last two emails. Ultimately, I wouldn’t have needed to go to another location if they hadn’t closed my home gym (again) and it doesn’t seem fair to be charged for the inconvenience The Gym Group caused by closing my home gym (again). This is poor customer service and the initial response I did get from a customer rep was very ‘computer says no’. Haven’t heard from her since. Be aware that The Gym Group will charge you for using other gyms they deem as more expensive when they close your home gym for ‘refurbishments’.

I am deeply disappointed by the unprofessional behavior I experienced at The Gym Ltd's West Hampstead branch. As a disabled individual with specific health needs, I rely on accessible facilities for my well-being. However, my recent encounter with one of the staff members, Ms. Mica Nicols, was unacceptable. During a visit on February 27th, 2024, I utilised the disabled toilet due to the unavailability of other facilities. Following my use, Ms. Nicols approached me in a confrontational and derogatory manner, loudly questioning my choice of facility without providing any legitimate reason. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but also discriminatory, undermining my rights as a member and causing me significant distress. Despite my attempts to address the issue, the branch manager was unavailable and inquiries were ignored. This lack of accountability only adds to the frustration of an already distressing situation. I urge The Gym Ltd to take immediate action to address this matter, including disciplinary measures against Ms. Nicols and comprehensive staff training on disability awareness and professionalism. As a member, I expect to be treated with respect and dignity, and I hope that The Gym Ltd will take steps to ensure that incidents like these do not recur in the future. In light of this experience, I cannot recommend The Gym Ltd's West Hampstead branch to others.

Enjoy the environment (minimal meatheads) and staff are very friendly (they actually appear to help members and do things around the gym rather than other gym's staff who sit on their phones).

Has improved to be top notch since my last review, most likely thanks to the new manager, Natalia, and her dedicated and super friendly team. They keep the place neat and tidy at all times that is quite a bit of a challenge. The most organised facility in the country over this chaotic period.

I re-joined after some time and see a definite improvement in quality and offer. It's definitely cleaner and tidier than it was (at least 2 years ago), with pretty good choice of equipment. Becomes overcrowded during busy peak time, so be aware you would not have an immediate access to a desired area or equipment. I use it during late morning or early afternoon hours so it's fairly quiet. The only major negative I can see so far are... members, unfortunately, and their lack of manners and gym ethics. Don't expect people cleaning equipment or bringing towels. Sadly this place is still associated with cheap gym but in fact the basic services they offer are not worse than e.g. nearby Virgin Active but much cheaper and good value for money. Do not expect anything spectacular, however.

Good gym, not very big and has its busy times such as early evenings. Great that it's 24 hours and weekends are generally quiet. Just wish some of the members would remove their plastic water bottles and put equipment back. Toilets could be cleaner and changing facilities are adequate. Weight training area usually very busy but other than that, good monthly price for what you get.

No internet happy 1989, staff not really helpful. They are good to tell you if you are breathing or if you want to be sure that you can move. If you want to improve your exercise they are incapable. I was a little bit hard with my critics to be honest. There are some people happy to help you and give you constructive feedback for your exercises and it seems that interest issues have been fixed.

I tried to sign up, went to see the gym and I was standing for 10 min ringing, no one came out to let me in. At the entrance they have 2 introduction monitors that also were not working(I was hoping to find answers to my questions maybe on these?). No luck, so I've send an email, no reply. Been a member for a while. It’s below ground level, so super claustrophobic. I can only go on weekends and after work, but it’s getting more and more packed in the evenings, hard to find space to workout. When you do find the space, the air in there is just heavy, maybe needs better ventilation. The price keeps increasing. £30 per month just doesn’t seem fair or deserving for the amount of times I can use whatever machines I want. It was my first choice as it’s closest to my home but if I’m going to spend £30 a month, I’d rather take a bus to go to a gym that’s more airy, have more space/equipment to serve to the gym-goers and doesn’t close every 3 months for maintenance and doesn’t refund your money for the time lost while they’re doing the maintenance. (Meaning you still pay for however long they’re closed for) I was offered another branch, but again, we may not be able to regulate our schedules to travel to a different branch just because you decide to close up every few months. Not worth it. Better gyms out there for the price.

COVID UPDATE: can you please inform your staff that the mask needs to be worn ABOVE the nose. 7 staff members here this morning, only 1 wearing the mask properly. Either do it correctly or don’t bother. At the moment you are just making a mockery of the safety advice and your customers. Also, cleaning a whole piece of weightlifting equipment is not possible with a simple wipe down!!!! At one point you’re just transferring things from one place to the next. Use the spray bottles honestly. It’s ok as far as gym goes. They keep shutting it down for days on end to “renovate” but mostly nothing changes overall. Also they keep increasing the price or making one off “extra” price payments to make a “higher quality work environment” but not much actually improves. If you email about an issue they’ll just respond rudely and passive aggressively.

Read further for internet issues at this gym... Budget reasonably well equipped basement gym. Cheap membership. Good visiting personal trainers but minimal company staff and zero management at weekends. Internet extremely unreliable and usually doesn’t work (I’ve complained about this to everyone I can think of for several YEARS so consider this a permanent problem with the gym, which sucks as it’s in the basement away from any reception. Bizarre that they can’t fix this in the year 2020.)

Very crowded place to go for a gym. Sometime it looks like the gym is flooded with the people and it’s overcrowded and you cannot use any machinery especially when people comes in groups and never leave the equipment for other people to use but nevertheless I change my timing and it still busy but surviving. the most shocking is you will get no network signals in the basement and their Wi-Fi never worked and I think it’s fair for anybody who is paying that amount of money and gym cannot even provide a good signal in the basement very pathetic. Sometime I need to go in between my work shift to avoid the crowd but I need to keep checking my phone for the email so I can I will be connected with my work but seems like another challenge in the gym because you hardly get any signal and certainly network and the Wi-Fi never worked so I urge to put the new Wi-Fi signal there otherwise We will leave.

I scouted all the gyms in the area and this is the best that I found. 24/7 Access and all you need is a code. It has all the equipment you could need including a turf field with a sled. Staff is friendly and there are plenty of classes to get involved in if you’re not interested in solo workouts. Look on their website as they often offer great discounts as well!

The facility is great, with a wide variety of machines, and really great value. Thanks, Kate, for changing my life!

Best PT is Mica, she helped me achieve my goals with such efficiency and effectiveness. She gave me so much advice as to what to eat, the proper ways to burn fat and gave me a schedule too to keep me organised. I definitely recommend people to go to Mica when looking for a PT

Always felt very comfortable coming into “the gym” and isn’t a judgy place at all with friendly staff. Would also like to mention Paul in particular who is always happy to help with any queries I may have.

Been a member for over 10+ years. Cheap and Open 24 hours. What more can you ask? The staff is always friendly, Ioana quickly helped me sort out a workout on a erg machine today, and has been helping me out with tips, she's been here as long as me and always been super helpful

Very good gym, more weights than other gyms which I prefer. Some gyms have too much cardio machines. Staff very friendly and it’s 24/7

When gym was renovating, I got an email stating my pin will work in staples corner or Paddington gym and it doesn't work. No, staff was present and customer service number doesn't work.

Have been a member for just over a year and always enjoyed working out here. However, since the refurbishment I have not had anywhere near as nice an experience. My biggest/only complaint with the old setup was that there were only 2 squat stations. There are now 6 which is great but this appears to have been at the expense of losing a number of benches. I haven't counted but that's what it feels like. As a result, I can no longer just turn up and get on with my workout without having to wait for equipment to become available. I was going to cancel my membership soon anyway as I am moving away from the area, but I have now cancelled it a fair bit sooner than I was planning to. I don't want to go to a gym that makes me more frustrated every time I go when a large part of why I work out is to de-stress and unwind. Have given 2 stars instead of 1 because the new setup isn't the only reason for cancelling, but it was the deciding factor in cancelling earlier than planned.

Great gym, always clean and tidy, could do with sanitising stations for equipment but other than that no complaints

Thrilled with my experience at The Gym Group in London West Hampstead! The atmosphere is energizing, the equipment is well-maintained, and the layout is spacious. What sets this gym apart is the supportive community vibe; it feels like a place where everyone is encouraged to succeed. Whether you’re a beginner or a fitness enthusiast, you’ll find the resources and encouragement you need to reach your goals.
