By
the
time
the
owner
finishes
reading
this,
he’ll
know
who
I
am.
The
vast
majority
of
poor
reviews
are
coming
from
people
who
lack
the
knowledge
of
fish
keeping,
but
want
all
the
benefits
of
wanting
to
buy
a
fish
of
their
choosing.
What
people
don’t
realise
is
that
once
the
fish
is
sold,
the
responsibility
falls
at
the
hands
of
the
customer
of
keeping
live
creatures.
There
is
a
lot
preparation
and
well-informed
decision
making
that
goes
towards
keeping
fish
keeping
and
a
lot
of
that
knowledge
base
comes
the
internet
and
YouTube
-
Gain
that
knowledge
first
before
you
blindly
make
any
sort
of
purchase!
Trying
and
failing
to
understand
why
you
don’t
remove
fish
from
your
aquarium
and
cleaning
it
with
fairy
liquid
and
rinsing
out
gravel
by
hand
under
a
tap
is
all
the
better
reason
why
you
shouldn’t
keep
fish,
believe
me
I’ve
heard
some
horror
stories.
If
you
understand
what
nitrates
and
nitrites
are
and
how
beneficial
bacteria
colonises
in
your
tank,
then
you
won’t
have
to
worry
about
an
imminent
death.
You
will
also
find
that
there
are
treatments
for
tap
water,
which
makes
it
safe
for
your
fish,
treatment
which
breaks
down
chlorine
in
tap
water
and
lowers
the
pH
equivalent
to
their
wild
environment,
so
that
fish
have
a
good
quality
of
life.
I
have
purchased
2
Royal
plecos
(L191
and
an
L27)
and
an
L81
Gold
nugget
and
they
are
doing
extremely
well.
I
do
a
weekly/bi-weekly
water
change
and
regularly
overstock
on
food
and
aquarium
treatment.
I
vacuum
the
gravel
and
I
remove
80%
of
water
(absolutely
necessary
for
plecos),
I
retain
some
of
that
tank
water
in
a
bucket
to
clean
the
filter
sponges
and
bio
media
(never
rinse
filter
sponges
and
bio
media
under
tap
water)
and
before
I
let
fresh
new
tap
water
enter
into
my
tank,
I
add
the
appropriate
amount
of
aquarium
treatment
in
to
the
remaining
20%
of
the
water.
I
also
add
some
aquarium
treatment
into
my
filter
sponges
and
bio
media.
Failure
to
doing
this
is
absolute
death
sentence
for
your
fish.
Your
well-established
tank
will
need
bogwood,
which
lowers
the
pH
naturally
to
allow
fish
to
thrive.
Plants
are
optional/dependent
upon
the
species
of
fish
and
water
temperatures
and
feeding
intervals
are
essential.
I
have
visited
Wholesale
Tropicals
for
all
my
fish
keeping
needs
and
requirements
and
they
are
very
knowledgeable
and
will
answer
your
questions
(if
you
ask).
I
couldn’t
recommend
these
guys
enough,
they
have
absolutely
brilliant.
Terry
the
owner
is
a
brilliant
guy
and
I
can
tell
there
is
a
lot
of
passion
in
his
craft.
You
either
have
the
passion
and
the
heart
and
soul
of
wanting
to
keep
fish
and
responsibilities
of
fish
keeping
or
you
don’t.
Just
don’t
buy
fish
blindly
without
doing
your
homework
first.
And
for
those
of
you
who
think
that
race
is
an
issue,
I
am
that
big
Indian
guy
with
glasses
who
visits
that
shop
every
couple
of
weeks
and
I’ve
had
nothing
but
good
old
banter
with
the
owner.
He’s
a
good
man
(I
did
say
he’ll
recognise
me).
