Really rude staff with patronising attitude. I am appalled by the abhorrent treatment and gross negligence I experienced at the emergency department of this hospital. It is truly disheartening to witness such a lack of compassion and disregard for human life, particularly in a supposedly civilized country like England. Firstly, after undergoing a blood test, I was shockingly informed at 1am that I needed to free up the bed immediately. It is completely unacceptable to treat weak and ill individuals, many of whom are barely conscious, in such a callous manner. It is beyond comprehension how a hospital can justify forcing vulnerable patients onto the streets in the middle of the night, leaving them hungry, thirsty, and exposed to further harm. Moreover, the hospital's indifference to patient safety is deeply troubling. Instead of providing appropriate care and ensuring the well-being of patients, they seemingly prioritize convenience and bed availability over human lives. This kind of treatment goes against the fundamental principles of healthcare and undermines the trust that patients place in medical professionals. Furthermore, the incompetence demonstrated by the doctors is alarming. Wrong diagnoses and a lack of communication regarding test results are clear signs of a dysfunctional and negligent healthcare system. I was told that I should request my test results under the Data Subject Request. Patients deserve to be informed about their condition, and it is deeply concerning that vital information is being withheld from them. This level of ignorance and disregard for patient well-being is inexcusable and raises serious doubts about the hospital's commitment to providing quality healthcare. In conclusion, the treatment I received at this hospital's emergency department was nothing short of disgraceful. The lack of empathy, the failure to ensure patient safety, and the overall incompetence displayed by the medical staff are deeply concerning. It is imperative that immediate action is taken to rectify these grave shortcomings and ensure that patients are treated with the dignity, respect, and care they deserve.

I'll give 2 stars for the staff that had 0 empathy for me when I went there sick, without being able to sleep and feeling extremely bad but been told that is not a hospital for cold and cough. Many times you try to treat this at home as we are going through regularly episoded of cold and cough every time in the cold season, this time I started to feel that is not something so easy to deal as I had a chest infection bothering for over a week but didn't know this, I felt that I touch the bottom and I need help from a specialist as I couldn't breath anymore. Georgina, the doctor was amazing, but for the 4-5 hours that you wait there in in pain, you don't need anyone to laugh in your face and tell you this.

Came yesterday for severe abdominal pain and I have been told by the receptionist that period pain wasn’t an emergency. I’ve said I have been referred by 111 after 24h of fever and a severe pain and she told me that most of the time 111 are doing wrong diagnosis. I am now admitted at Chelsea and Westminster for a severe abdominal infection requiring several days of intravenous antibiotics. NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL

I had been here on a few occasions and every time the organization was horrendous. The queue time can easily reach 5+ hours, so, as you can tell, emergency is a word that is greatly misunderstood here. Expect to queue for hours to then being offered to go home or being moved to a different queue. The specialists that treated me were polite and professional, however, I cannot say the same about the rest of the team. Avoid this location if you have any respect for your time.

Referred by 111 waited to register only to be told they can't see me and to go to the GP. Rude staff, clearly stressed, no concern whatsoever for wellbeing, had the audacity to say you look fine. Apparently pain is visible?!? Just completely the wrong attitude. Shameful.

Waiting 5 hrs in A and E. it’s 3am. No information. No clue as to how long it will take until I see a Dr. Why can’t they at least give a good indication of status? They treat patients like pieces of meat. Dehumanising experience.

Emergency area, after 5 hours waiting, blood in urine-possible kidney malfunction: “your life can be compromised today, tomorrow, or in two hours, but right, right now, you are just bleeding. Come back when you know your life is really compromised” Do not recommend this emergency hospital, this is not an human way to treat anyone, or even something to say anyone.

I want to share what happened with me here so all people will be prepared, it can save your life. It had a very big temperature (39) and very big pain in my breast. I barely could stand abs speck this is how weak I was. I called immediately to NHS emergency and I asked what should I do. They recommended me to go to the hospital. I also was with my 8 months baby and I was without my husband so I took him to Emergency service at St Thomas. I arrived to the reception around midnight. Woman from reception gave me the form and then I described all my symptoms she said I SHOUD go home and take paracetamol. Because I only have cold. I told her I have very big pain in my breast and I am afraid I will fall In the floor and I could not take care of my son since I m completely alone. She said again it is just the cold and not a big deal. I said to her I have to see the doctor and with big skepticism she asked me to wait. She put in my form note that I have just cold that’s why I was waiting my appointment around 5 hours. After that time I came to doctor to said I can’t wait more I m littrely dying and my son was crying , I asked for help. Doctor did analysis , she checked my temperature and my Breast she said I should take antibiotics immediately and it’s not cold at all it is mastitis. Thankfully I did not listen that receptionist from emergency service and I forced myself to fight with her to see doctor!Meanwhile it could be too late and I will need to do an operation! Doctors was really professional and kind! I appreciate their help to me. But that woman from reception just crazy person!

I had an absolutely shocking experience at St Thomas Hospital's A&E department on Saturday morning. It was my first time in 10 years visiting A&E as I do understand that you should only go there if you have serious health issues. The reason for my visit was complete numbness on the right side of my body, no sensitivity to pain and burning in my right arm followed by nearly fainting twice. I waited for 5+ hours, which is fair enough knowing how short staffed they are. After 5 hours of waiting, they done some general tests to check if my arms are sensitive to touch, but they were not able to help me further. However, the worst part of my visit was the nurse loudly expressing to her colleagues that "That girl is winding me up. She should go home". I was absolutely shocked by her words and felt extremely uncomfortable. Under no circumstances should someone speak like that.

Yesterday evening I have been brought by an Ambulance to the St. Thomas Hospital, A&E section, in a severe condition. A definite "A*", 10 out of 10, or a clean 5-star to the entire team from this amazing hospital. Everyone made me feel very well-taken care of, as a patient, extremely polite and showing a genuine care and empathy, trying also to encourage me on the way. There was no waiting time, I straightaway have been welcomed and explained what will the sequence of investigations be about, and with good reason, I started to calm down and trust the whole team of professionals. Wonderful people who visibly LOVE THE PROFESSION they have chosen for. Thank you to all of you. A hospital where you will be treated with respect, empathy and professionalism.

The wait is really something you need to prepare for, but they are very responsive and prioritizes critical situations. I entered 8:30pm, got my consultation at 2:30am, then had my CT scan around 3:15am. Since they have only 1 radiologist, they need 30+ mins for the final results. Good enough facilities and caring staff 👌

HORRIBLE HOSPITAL. We had a taxi accident and my mother broke her ankle. The cast they put on her was very bad. It was obvious since the cast was damp even after 24 hours! They kept insisting to have surgery although my mother was very tired and didn’t eat anything for a whole day they can’t sedate it when she’s in that stat! So we decided to go to another hospital, and they were shocked how bad the cast was. The cast was so bad she had big blisters all over her ankle and she can’t have surgery until the blisters and swelling fades. I don’t recommend this hospital at all. They kept stalling and giving me excuses so that they don’t give me the x-ray images and reports WHICH IS OUR RIGHT! I keep emailing them about and they keep stalling and ignoring. I’m going to sue them for what they did to my mother.

Took my disabled son to this A&E as Evelinas childrens A&E is linked together to an adult. It’s embarrassing that reception staff making disabled children wait in the same queue as adults. Only after you waited with all adults in the same queue then they will let you to join to one more queue for the actual Evelinas A&E queue . Question goes to the staff. Does it really makes a sense to make kids/disabled kids to wait twice? Also we had some kids taken inside to join second queue without any wait. How do you prioritise the importance of the emergency? Staff is careless and disrespectful. It’s against childrens rights.

Had to go to St Thomas's hospital A&E yesterday and despite doctors strikes happening they gave me an incredible level of care. Had to wait a few hours in a busy waiting area as you would expect, but all staff were very kind and professional. I felt very looked after and they checked me over thoroughly. I can understand why this is one of the best A&E's in the country.

Level of care is to be questioned by some nurses namely one called Lisa which is a sister nurse having a passive aggressive attitude when she moved people to the front of the queue with less an injury which wasn't even in the queue but in the waiting area. My friend had a head injury from a fall and just to get to checkin took an hour, i do understand its not a easy job and the NHS do a lot but attitude like that has no place in the NHS regardless how hard one works. Should A&E ever be required again I will take myself/friend to UCLH at least no passive aggression there from nurses. Such a shame as St Thomas's used to be a great hospital 30 years ago.

I went there yesterday after a metal block fell on my head and let me just say they weren’t helpful at all. From the nurses to the person taking my info to the doctors. They barely checked my head and I had to wait 2 bloody hours to get the medicine which i ended up not taking. It’s so sad to see that this is what the UK healthcare is like.

I wish I could have given a minus 5 review. If you have an actual emergency, expect being asked about your details 100 times, find your NHS number and fill out numerous forms. Basically you will die in at the reception there. Amazing service, also they don’t allow anyone to come in with you for support. Worst place.

I suffered a nasty accident and was not really myself for a few days but the doctors and nurses treated me with kindness and respect even though I was having a rough time. Thank you to each and every member of the healthcare team who were involved in my care.

I recently had two experiences of being treated here and in both cases I found the level of care to be outstanding and all the staff incredibly helpful and reassuring. I was also treated very quickly but I recognise that I was lucky to be attending at a relatively quiet time (if you have a choice about when to attend, you can google when they are least busy).

Very attentive and polite staff. They wellcomed me with smiles during all the process. I went there after suffering an ankle sprain and was out after only 1 hour and 30 minutes of waiting, which I think is a very reasonable time.

Everybody was lovely, very nonjudgemental and got me through to the correct department really quickly. I was in three waiting rooms but never in one of them for more than 20 minutes. My X-ray came back really quickly, too. Thanks so much!

I was not very happy how i was treated today by the male nurse with a beard at the check in of A& E desk. I was challenged by him by the fact that i shouldn't come to A&E if my GP refused to book an appointment . I will never walk to A& E unless strictly necessary and as i my pain increased day and by day and the anti-inflammatory wasn't doing anything , i thought this was not the really the appropriate professional approach anyone should get. On the other hand, luckily the doctor was professional and careful and listened my symptoms although i walked out to A & E without knowing what is the diagnosis for my T spine pain . A special thanks to Andres, the male nurse in the urgent care unit who has been exceptional very professional and caring. Michela

I had a very good experience with the staff of the emergency area. They were very professional and emphatic with my mum. During the process, they answered all of our questions making sure that my mum was well treated. As any hospital, it could be a bit crowded, but once your information is taken the process to follow is clear. Thanks to the NHS for the reactive help. Of course, I hope no one else have to live any emergency experience.

Phone called for an eye emergency and was told they just dont have doctors because of covid and I should seek else where. In the end I went to a local optician who urged me to go there for A&E eye emergency. Staff at the reception was so rude. Lady called Linda doesnt say Hi, doesnt explain what she is doing, then left me twice in a waiting room with no information about what was going to happen. Nurse and doctors however were lovely. I was scheduled for a follow up appointment the week after and was told I would receive a text with appointment time. Never received it. Called and was told I’m on the list but I should come back to emergency and wait the whole day again?! I do not want to take a spot for emergency it is just a follow up! This is so ridiculous.

I visited a&e and all the staff were absolutely amazing. Although i was there for 7 hours they took my issues seriously and did full investigations. We are so lucky to have access to such amazing healthcare and it was really inspiring to meet all the staff that dealt with me. I wish I could thank them personally.

6 hours here and still waiting to be seen by a doctor. Arrived at 20:37 and now the time is 03:25. Still waiting. Apparently I'm the next on the list for almost an hour and a half. What a disgrace. My condition according to the NHS is life treating if not treated but no one cares.

Very good. I have been treated really thorough, respectful and quick where another hostile Hospital in Lewisham failed miserably. The staff here is sincere and works beyond there means to make you feel safe and respected. Thank You St Thomas! I have gained new trust in the NHS because of this.

I walked into the A&E very unwell and I have been taken under the wing of the most amazing Team in Major Triage. I have been seen so quickly and everyone was so caring and kind, respectful and genuinely concerned about my health I was overwhelmed. I spent half a day in the Ward, I was offered food and water, monitored and assisted by Nurses and a young lady Dr I couldn't have been in better hands. I was 10 miles away from home and anxious about getting the last tube back but I have been sent home by taxi, door to door and I couldn't believe how thoughtful the Staff were. I wish I could hug them all because I thanked everyone more than once but I don't think it is quite enough. This Hospital is as good as gold. And so are all the Staff working in it ❤️❤️

I’ve been there for a check in after a bike accident and since I get in I was impressed for the high level of professional care I receive during the time I spent there. Big thank you to all amazing team from the receptionist Stuart to the nurses, radiologist and doctor. 🙏

Had my doubts but had no choice but to go. Was in some considerable pain. The reception colleague and training member of staff were both very professional and helpful. Once I was checked in I saw MJ I waited for over an hour. Took my symptoms and off I went for another check. Waited for another 45 minutes in total. All persons I spoke with and engaged with were all very courteous and empathetic. I think I was out the door within 3 hours and was told to come back if my symptoms worsened given my personal feedback. Overall it was above expectations but time will tell. 5*

Can't praise the Urgent Care Centre staff enough. Having been unable to get a doctor's appointment at my local surgery earlier than a week ahead, I decided to go to St Thomas's UCC as the pain from my shoulder injury was so bad. I was clearly informed on each step in the procedure, was given painkillers, examined after a short wait and linked up with a physiotherapist appointment going forward. Prompt, efficient and most importantly, kind staff. Thank you to all!

ended up in A&E after I cut my hand. the staff were so great all the way through, and Cristina in urgent care who stitched me up was amazing. i'm not great with blood and she was so great and I really appreciate how she looked after me when i was not at my best! Im so glad St Thomas is our local hospital as they have treated me and my family with compassion every time one of us has ended up there.

A big thank you to Dr Lewis and Beth the nurse from Evelina A&E, they were, reliable efficient and sincere. I appreciated the follow-up phone call on Wednesday 01/12 from Dr Lewis to see how Gabriel Rocha was doing, this gesture makes all the difference. Thank you very much indeed for all your help and attention.

I am terrified of illness and hospitals, and called in because I was concerned about some symptoms. The receptionist who picked up kept yelling at me to calm down when I asked her to please give me a minute to breathe because I was stressed about my illness, and she kept yelling to come in to the hospital or call an ambulance which only terrified me more because I wasn’t sure my symptoms would be something serious. Awful service, sent me into a panic attack more extreme than what I already was in. I’d give less than one star if I could

This will be a full honest review as a Tourist in London. After experiencing some ear and sinus pain, I went there at about 5:45 in the morning. You will first go to check in, where you describe your symptoms which the nurses will evaluate if it’s valid for your visit. After getting checked out to, you will have to fill in your personal information. After a while (15min), you will go to Registration, where they will enter your information in the system. After that, you will be asked to wait in the waiting area until a nurse calls your name. It was pretty busy, so there was a long wait time, but for Emergency Rooms, that’s normal. There will be a long wait time, depending on what’s going on. They saw that I had some pain, and they then gave me a mix of pain relief before I could see the doctor. It was 2:30 hours of waiting before the doctor called my name. The doctor I had really took her time and answered all of my concerns. After I was released (8:50 am), they described two medications I could pick up at the pharmacy at 9 am on a Sunday. For tourists, any medicines from the hospital will cost about 9,50 pounds. There was no cost for my visit to the emergency room. Just the medication that ended up being about a little under 20 pounds. The staff was also lovely and friendly throughout the entire visit.

Was referred by the GP as fever not coming down for the last 7 days. I was told to get the blood test done and proceed from there. Checked in at 19.30 but no nurse, doctor or blood test done for the next two hours. However after 2 hours was seen and the care was fantastic and a number of quick tests were.done and explained. So be prepared to wait....
