My family have been with the practice for 25 years and I was seeing the same Doctor, who was a fresh faced young man when he started at the practice when it was in Amwell Street. Don't know what happened but for the past couple of years his been off for whatever reason good or bad his hardly ever there. Dr Upton is semi retired and Dr Ruddy has gone. Now appointments are a joke unless you call in time at 8am and hopefully make the cut, they advise say to do an E-consult but even doing that the day before you don't get help the next day or the day after that etc. Never had a problem, but this gem of a surgery is rapidly going down hill like the rest of the area.

The reception staff are utterly rude and patronising and give you attitude both on face-to-face encounters and over the phone. The Doctors are however extremely polite, considerate and attentive. The main problem, having visited/called the practice several times, are the front desk staff.

Amwell group has provided a very disappointing level of care and consideration mostly at their front desk and ability to schedule appointments. The receptionists are exceptionally rude, especially the male. I have been told it's 'not their problem' when the doctor called and I was in a meeting, which I have because I work, yet when I tried to re-schedule the front desk wouldn't oblige. There is not a way to schedule an in person consult unless a serious emergency. There is not even the slightest basic level of care.

Booking appointments is a pain: * It takes them about 5-10 minutes to pick up the phone. It has happened to me multiple times that I waited on the phone for 10 minutes only to be told that there are no more appointments and that I should call back tomorrow. * You can only book appointments if you call in at 8am on the day, no advance bookings * Their automated system tells you to book appointments through Patient Access, but that is a lie, they don't support it * Interacting with the administrative staff is generally unpleasant. They're rude and impatient. They try to get you off the phone as quickly as possible, so if you forgot something, you have to call back and hold for another 5-10 minutes before someone answers to follow up The real issue is likely that they're underfunded and understaffed so I'm not claiming it's bad on purpose, it's just bad. The doctors (I had Dr. Kent) are great though. If you need 1 appointment every 3 years, they're great, but if like me, you need them frequently, don't come to this practice. They are no longer my GP for this reason.

The GPs here are generally very good and work very hard. It is a very busy inner London surgery. I think what lets the place down are the small number of staff who are rude unfriendly and unhelpful. I can see I’m not alone in mentioning this. This isn’t appropriate behaviour to display towards people who may be sick and struggling. The other negative aspect is the difficulty in booking an appointment. The phone frequently goes unanswered for ages and if you try to book online or through the app it invariably shows there are no available appointments. I know it’s been tough during COVID but the practice really needs to address these issues.

I love them! They are the best GP practice ever. The level of care, the empathetic team, and the human interaction with each GP is something I do not hear from any of my friends about their GPs. In my home, we are all extremely grateful for having them as our GP Practice.

This is a wonderful GP practice. My whole family are fortunate enough to be amongst their patients. We have never had a negative experience there and they have consistently given excellent advice on a range of health issues. If you are a reviewer complaining about waiting times then don't blame the staff trying to manage ever increasing pressures, get a government that properly supports people's health.

THIS PRACTICE SHOULD SHUT DOWN - CRIMINALLY uncaring, irresponsible and outright AWFUL to their patients! Disgrace to be part of NHS!

Very compassionate and hard working. They always try and help in any way they can and to fit you in. I have been a patient for 12 years and hands down the best GPs I have used. I appreciate being able to see or speak to someone when I need to

Some of the reception staff are rude, condescending, impatient, with very poor listen skills. I understand they may have to deal with some non sense throughout the day, however that is in no way, shape or form acceptable to pass that attitude and poor treatment on to others. Having to deal with them is appalling and this is not a one off instance I am speaking of. Will be changing surgeries.

Been with this surgery for many years. All staff are friendly, caring, compassionate and most importantly they listen. Dr Davis is a great doctor who goes above and beyond. I’m humbled by how he treats all patients especially older ones. Thank you.

This is an EXCELLENT GP practice for all involved: GPs, nurses and receptionists (both in person and on the phone). Not only do I consistently receive very good medical attention and expertise but also they are all very empathetic, compassionate, respectful and courteous. I am so grateful to be a patient of Amwell. Thank you for all your hard work!

I am so overwhelmed with the kindness and empathy this doctor’s practice show, not only to their patients but their families, Pam and Michael are my elderly parents, who have several underline medical conditions. However I cannot thank the Receptionist, Nurses and Doctors that provide a first class service to their patients. It’s a credit to the NHS. All my friends live in South London and are absolutely amazed in the service you provide, some cannot even get an appointment, recently my dad has had the Rapid Response and a home visit from dads doctor. I am not sure if l should name those l have expressed my gratitude to, but you all know all you are. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and l know both my parents feel the same. Keep the great support and work up.

I have been going to this doctors since I was a baby and now when I call up I’m told I can’t get an appointment because the NHS is busier than before. I am an asthmatic and need special help but this doctors doesn’t give any help to it’s patients. Do not sign up for this doctors as you will fight for an appointment or even to see a doctor or nurse. This is the worse GP I’ve been too I’m now with the Brunswick centre who are amazing and compassionate to the patients.

This is a very caring practice staff treat you with respect and speak to you well about your worries and explain diagnosis so it is clearly understood. I have met with three medical staff here I haven't felt rushed even though they are a very busy practice serving a universal community. Reception staff are patient and efficient. I am very happy that this is my local medical centre as it meets my needs very well.

I've been with this GP Surgery for 10 years now, during which time I've had 3 GPs. I've been happy with all of them. The reception staff in past years was less helpful than they are now. In the past year they seem to have been changed over. They are more hands-on, friendly and more proactive.

I have been a patient at this gp practice for years and always been given the care and help I've needed. I have to have regular appointments and have found every Dr i have seen very caring, considerate and helpful. It can be hard to get an appointment sometimes but if it's something urgent they will always try to accommodate.

I transferred from another local practice (not great) and the Amwell has been a breath of fresh air. Reception staff have been excellent and so have the doctors though as a teaching practice you might find that a doctor you see doesn't stay long- better to have relationship with permanent doctor there. But overall ethos here seems sound. I have found, though, that telephone appointments don't always happen as planned. This is a glitch that needs to be ironed-out.

This is an exceptional practice - I've trusted and relied on them for many years. Each doctor takes the time they need with you. Each one is thorough and kind. I count myself very fortunate indeed to be among their patients.

Very impressed with this surgery. The doctors are friendly and listen to your problems properly. The reception team don't usually take too long to answer the phone. Getting an appointment quickly is easy. Getting prescriptions is a very easy process too as the chemists is literally around the corner.
