This is one of my favourite nature reserves in Nottingham. It is absolutely lovely all year 'round. It's particularly beautiful after a heavy snow or on a warm sunny day. It's home to a vast amount of species of birds, fungi, mammals and amphibians. It's also littered with numerous species of plants and trees. To the west lies Martins pond, with a gentle stream running through Harrisons plantation to Raleigh pond in the east. Perfect for a light morning or afternoon walk with opportunities to feed the ducks and other birds around the ponds and woodland. You will often see birds building nests in the spring time. The Robins are very friendly at this location and will likely fly to your hand if you have some seeds or suet to feed. A fantastic place to unwind and relax as you take in some of Nottinghams finest natural beauty.

Stumbled across this small nature reserve that has a muddy path that surrounds a lake. I visited on a day when it had been raining and it was impossible to avoid the mud and large puddles. I can imagine that in summer it's even more picturesque and enjoyable. There's small decking area on the edge of the lake to observe the ducks/geese. On the entrance to the reserve, it notes a few rules to abide by when visiting. One of the rules, lists no motorbikes in the area and sadly I came across a guy who had bought his dirt bike in. As I was walking round, I could hear him opening up the throttle making lots of noise and causing a disturbance. Sadly there's no designated car park, but there is sufficient on street parking when visiting.

Lake in the middle of town. Wildlife reservation with trees, birds and other animals. Calm and serene atmosphere for your relaxation. No fishing allowed. Easy to get to. It is free to access.
