Wow ๐Ÿ˜ณ place was amazing and empty... for as good as the food was I can't imagine why there was no one in there. They had a huge menu and plenty of great choices. I had their specialties and I was greatly satisfied. Others have spoken of how pricey ot is but for thee amount of food and the quality it was well worth it. I would definitely come back. I was staying at the hotel close gy but was glad to have discovered this place as I was very impressed they are very decorated with awards and very well deserved. The waiters were attentive and I really enjoyed my experience. Don't listen to the Van reviews this place was delicious. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Three cups chicken is my favorite. I've eaten this dish in Chinatown and skoki's branch respectively. It's a completely different taste. The taste here is the best. It has a sweet basil flavor.

Super tasty fried rice, stir-fried green beans, and lemon shrimp. We had pot stickers and they were good, but the chili oil lacked flavor maybe needed vinegar or soy sauce? It was pretty flat in taste.

All our items were great - the Szechuan chicken, home style tofu, and sesame noodles. Pickup was easy - the food was waiting for us at the front and was still hot by the time we got home. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting Chinese food in Evanston.

The food was delicious. Place was clean and nice ambiance. The ordering was a bit confusing bc it has to be done through a QR code even if dining in but luckily our sever notice we were having a bit of a hard time and gladly took our order the old fashion way ๐Ÿ˜

Ordered a wrong dish without knowing it has beef in it, they took it back and charged us for something that was in the table for two minutes, owner should train the waitress to be nice and figure out a way to solve issues; not just over charge customers! Never coming to this place !!!! More over they asked for tip, I left a saying be kind next time !!

The service and staff here are fantastic! We got the dumplings which I thought had too much meat and did not care for the dough. We got the dry chili chicken which was very spicy and very good. Chicken fried rice was perfect with nice chicken breast pieces. Mango smoothy tasted like real mango and very well mixed. The menu is on the pricey side but they do have a lot of variety.

Lao Sze Chuan is an authentic Szechuan Chinese restaurant. The food is very fresh, well prepared with generous portions. Non-touristic and void of the heavy sauces. The chef was very attentive and came to our table to clarify preferred ingredients. I have visited Chinatown on many occassions and was introduced by a close friend and herbalist to two types of menus, authentic home-style Chinese and touristic American. Be advised, they don't serve fortune cookies in China... I highly recommend Lao Sze and we will return most definitely. We do not agree with the petty comments at all.

The food was good and the amount was enough. I ordered veg rolls and duck meat. I will like the duck more well cooked, apart from that it's fine.

I ordered the combination dry pot from this restaurant through UberEat, and thereโ€™s a beer cap in the food.

Ordered delivery so the food got a little cold. But some dishes were still good. However, wouldnโ€™t recommend the vegetable noodles. The noodles tasted like boiled vegetables

Ordered food for delivery. It was late. When I called the restaurant, they told me the delivery service hadnโ€™t come to get my food yet but that it had been sitting there ready for pickup. I asked what the plan was to get my food to me, and the manager said he hoped the service would come soon. Eventually the food arrived, 40 minutes later than it was supposed to. It was cold, of course. The manager told me there was nothing he could do about it, but offered me a credit toward my next purchase. I asked if heโ€™d just apply the credit now as a partial refund, and he told me nobody there knew how to do that. No thanks.

Lao Sze Chuan is amazing. The dishes are so good. The combination of the sauce and the white rice is the best thing I ever have!

Got the liquor license back so that is a plus. The menu doesn't disappoint. The spicy tofu ..the spicy chicken the sole..everything is good and I really wanted to slam this place as a former employee. But I can't.

Dined in, very attentive service! Really liked having them confirm everything in the order, including the spice level. Water refills were aplenty which certainly helps if you get something spicy. We always get the string beans, and will be back again soon!

This location is too yt washed. The flavors are okay and the heat is extremely muted. If you're not yt, go to the next closest location in Uptown. They'll cook a more flavorful/heated meal for you

Everything about this place was fantastic. The food, the service, the atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious. My friend and I split the honey garlic beef, Mongolian beef, spinach with garlic, and pot stickers. Everything was delicious! As well, I got the matcha milk tea, and that was delightfully flavored. I would almost say too much boba, as it was so much the straw I had wasn't able to quite handle all of it. But, I love boba so, it was still great! I do strongly recommend coming here.

Definitely seen better days. Service was lacking: soup is served in takeout containers and to-go spoons (see photo) and food came out slow (one dish at a time). Food was lacking: Xiao Long Bao were tiny and flavorless; eggplant was bland. Had to eat off of tiny, chipped rectangular plates. So called "bar" was empty. If you're looking for a fancy place with great food, this is neither.

I lived in Evanston from 2014 to 2016 and normally had Friday dinner at this restaurant almost every week. There were free pickles and peanuts appetizer for every table and the dishes were delicious. Today we ordered 4 dishes and only finished one (garlic flavored green vegetable), the rest three were pretty much 90% unfinished because they tasted so bad. The cumin lamb was particularly bad. It tasted a bit sour so I thought they might put too much vinegar, but then I realized that the sourness came from the lamb itself, because the meat is not fresh anymore, or even close to bad. This is a totally different restaurant compared to a few years ago when it had a 4.3 star review. Not gonna come back anymore.

Really disappointed for the dishesโ€ฆ. Not athletic Sichuan food. Especially the maoxuewang. The restaurant play on words. They change the ๆฏ› to ๅ†’, which is not respect the spirit of Sze Chuan Food!
