We have walked passed by this restaurant for years but never had the chance to dine-in until now. Golden Bull (est 1949) is a fine dine in restaurant located along West Channel rd in Pacific Palisades. They are known serving up fine fare including steakhouse favorites, fresh seafood, and veggie-centric dishes. We came here on a sunny late afternoon as a large group to grab drinks and food after walking at the nearby beach. We were warmly greeted by a female staff and was seated at their outdoor patio on two separate middle tables. We asked the manager/lead host, if we could concatenate the two tables since we’re a large group. He adamantly said we certainly cannot do that. Furthermore, he informed us that there’s a restricted dine-in time limit. In that moment, our group felt that the mgr had to obviate the need from servicing our group. Thus, we informed them that we no longer interested and departed the restaurant. We had a high expectation from this restaurant from the start but sadly we’re very disappointed. I guess a large group such as ours was not ideal for the Golden Bull. Overall, it was disheartening experience for a first time customer.

I was there during happy hour, only a few drinks with happy hour price. Food menu has only a few things for happy hour, but very enjoyable still.

New owners. New review. The new owners have created a great space keeping the vibe. The happy hour is an excellent bargain and the food is delicious. I almost wanted to not like it because I had been frequenting the restaurant for the past 20 years was quite attached. They have done a very good job and I will be returning. Often.👌🍸🍴. I had the flat iron steak. The fries are delicious. And the sundae for dessert was really really good. Our server was a sweet, smart., energetic young woman who speaks multiple languages. The bus boy had a great vibe and was very attentive. So great food great service what more could you want?

Very good food. We ordered the pulled pork and the cheese steak sandwiches and both were delicious. We ate outside in the patio. Definitely coming back for diner inside on the on the typical leather banquets.

It’s a nice steakhouse right off the PCH. The first time I went here I probably had the best steak in my life, but each time I went after it never lived up to that same first time/night quality. The mashed potatoes are to die for. You will see celebrities in this place as well. I actually sent a glass of top shelf whiskey to Martin Short that was one table next to mine. I’ve been here many times and I will be going back. It’s worth a trip if you’ve never been here.

Delicious Wines, like Kurt Russell’s GoGi wines, - Incredible food and Great Times to be had by all. Tell the bartender, Daniel, that Silvio sent you! Cheers.

Delicious food, efficient and prompt wait staff, lots of heaters outdoors, reasonably quick food. Prices are up there but the food was great. One server just plonked the food down and parking was challenging and a little bit of a walk .. but I didn't feel like paying 15 bucks to have them park it.

This is a review for their Happy Hour or "Golden Hour" which is Monday-Friday, 4:00pm - 5:30pm and for a few items from their regular menu. You have the option to sit indoors our outdoors. We chose indoors, which is lovely and cozy with white tablecloths, flowers at each table, and fireplace. The Caesar Salad for $5 was so good, I almost wanted to order another one! I loved the Loaded Potato Skins ( $5) !!! The Calamari was a solid Good ( $10) . My friend ordered a beef Taco( $4) and it was disappointing. He won't order it again. My husband ordered from the regular menu and he loved his Flat Iron Steak with a side of asparagus . We all shared the Smores Casserole ( $14) dessert! I highly recommend sharing this! It comes with warmed up graham crackers! Parking is a bit difficult, but we found parking on the side streets.

I've been coming to the Golden Bule for over 30 years and they have never disappointed me. The Prime rib and Tim's service were excellent. The atmosphere remains unique. I look forward to coming back next time I'm in Santa Monica or staying with friends in Topanga Canyon.

Excellent food. Our filet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The side dishes and salad were excellent. Our server was Daniel and he was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Very cool place. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic meal - one of the best steaks I’ve had in the last few years. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were great. Ordered a martini and got the extra cocktail from the shaker in a glass on the side, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Quiet, comfortable vibe. I can see why celebrities still frequent here.

Ribeye was perfection. Dirty martini was so good and smooth, even the house version. This place is the perfect blend of fine dining and a comfortable, casual atmosphere. It's really a melting pot of young, old, shabby, glossy, and not a scene. A great vibe all around.

Nice atmosphere but pretty ridiculous in terms of prices. $28 for a hamburger/ fries $34 for a small piece of salmon(comes w/no sides!!) Appetizer portions are small but are priced close to what you’d expect to pay for an entree at other places. (Baked potato add on is $16, calamari $24, etc) No easy place to park so you’re stuck paying $15 to valet. Patio seating is nice, staff was pleasant but probably better options for the price. (They have a decent happy hour Menu. My experience was outside of happy hour). $480 for a party of 6(with tip) and we didn’t really feel like it was an exceptional food experience. (5 entrees , 2 appetizers, 1 side salad, 2 soft drinks, 3 glasses of wine).

Good food but the service this day was not great at all. Never got any refills. Had to get someone so I could pay the bill.

For some unknown reason, my wife and I wanted to drink steaks at an Italian restaurant. They were very good but expensive. However, I would get pastas the next time I go to a restaurant. The restaurant was full on Wednesday. I was told that you didn't need to book a waiter table at Jada but the very best tables were reserved for people with a reservation. My wife felt it was too crowded in the row of tables for two on one side of the restaurant. Very good service. Only street parking.

Last night we went to the Golden Bull for my daughters 18th birthday. It was my first time. So much fun. The food was excellent! Had the bacon cheeseburger and steak Frites for my fiancé . The ambience is as perfect. Socially distanced with tables, the heaters were so warm to feel like an inviting summer night. They have valet and the drinks were amazing.

Stopped in here for a quick drink prior to a dinner reservation down the street. The bartender said he wouldn’t serve me immediately after looking at my license because I have a Connecticut ID that was “clearly fake”… as a 25 year old with a real CT drivers license, I tried to explain that I could show my passport as well as I was traveling for work but he was incredibly rude, dismissive and wouldn’t let me explain the situation. My friend grabbed a drink and we sat, me with water, and he pointed at me telling the other staff to watch me. Frankly, I didn’t want a drink after this interaction otherwise I would’ve escalated the situation or contacted the police to validate my identification. A gentleman sitting at the bar even commented on the rash behavior of the bartender. His overall attitude and demeanor was awful and I have never experienced anything like it. Would not recommend this establishment if you are from out of town. I can not speak to the food or the other employees at this restaurant.

We enjoyed the service more over the food. The prices are way too much for the food served. I have better steak at Black Angus. The house steak sauce was not the best. If you like to chat and just drink, this is the place for you.

Once a year on my birthday I go to this place and order a martini, my only martini of the year. This year from my first sip I knew that someone had watered down the gin. I told the waiter, and he said, “That’s impossible.” Anyone who has ever raised a teenager knows that that is more than possible, it’s probable. A great waiter would have replaced it with another, but he stuck to his guns and I drank it anyway. There was absolutely no buzz, and as a one-martini-a-year girl, this was quite disappointing. The food, which used to be great, is now extremely average. I believe I will find a new birthday place. (PS No one wished me Happy Birthday, though I mentioned it on the reservation.)

Extremely unpleasant welcome by the manager because I was bringing a fine bottle of wine that had been decanted before. Apparently you cannot bring your own bottle if it was previously open (it was closed when I brought it). Never heard of such a thing. It might be “the law” but there are nice ways and obnoxious ways to enforce the law. The food, the hostesses and wait staff were nice and professional but could not make up for the cold shower going in. I will spend my money in a more hospitable place next time.

Phenomenal food. I honestly had low expectations going in and we ended up LOVING every single dish. There’s clearly a chef with a unique vision behind each item. Indoors ambiance is classic and so warm/cozy. Almost feels like you’ve stepped back in time to the 60s or 70s when restaurants were their own entity and not part of some nameless, impersonal franchise.

Great vibe, friendly servers, and our food came out lightning fast! The prime rib and mashed potatoes were excellent, and my friend enjoyed the broccolini. Can’t wait to eat here again soon! I will say that parking can be a little tricky though

Steak was $104 and came with nothing. $44 you could throw in some damn french fries and coleslaw give me a break. Glad my boyfriend paid for it I'd have a fit. Dinner was $200 was worth perhaps 130 I would not eat there again. They do have a happy hour maybe that's better but I didn't experience it. Food was not worth the money. Service was good but this place is overpriced.

Stoped here late at night for a bottle of wine and an appetizer. The server was very good and kept the waters full and candle lit! The bar area where we sat has a cool vibe and a good crowd.

The patio deck built during pandemic is a beautiful and modern addition. Golden Hour is 4-5:30pm Monday - Friday and has fantastic food options. Take a stroll onto the beach before or after for a perfect date.
