Really great vegan ramen can be found here! Of course, they have more traditional ramen, which I am sure is just as amazing. Beverages are a bit disappointing, and a place like this needs draft beer, but the whole dining experience was amazing!

Mediocre ramen place but stays open late. Ordered: Miso ramen and pork gyoza. + Stays open until midnight + Convenient location, very close to Metro station * Ramen is just okay, nothing memorable. The soft-boiled egg was a little overcooked than I like. * Gyoza is deep-fried, not shallow-fried like in most Japanese places. - My ramen bowl had a chipped rim. - Server didn't offer to refill my water until giving me my bill.

It’s 5 steps to be seated inside and I was told I cant be seated unless I wear a mask and can’t use my shirt. I was told to go to the dollar store down the street to buy a mask because it’s not enough to use my T-shirt even though other people in here are using cloth masks. Servers and hosts are efficient but rude as hell. Food was EXCELLENT. I really want to give the five starts for how good this ramen was In comparison to the others on the same street but the attitude is extremely off putting. I had lost my appetite until the food was served.

RAKKAN Ramen DTLA hidden jewel restaurant. The friendly service is impeccable. The restaurant small but quaint. The Spicy Garnet ramen is cooked to perfection with a slight bite and comes in a somewhat thick miso vegetable broth full of sesame and garlic flavor. The crispy veggie gyoza is crispy on the outside full of delicious veggies in the inside. The tempura shrimp handroll is stuffed with a crispy and succulent tempura shrimp and lots of fresh avocado rolled with plump rice in a nori seaweed sheet. Will definitely be back for other dishes that caught my eye. PS: Come early as it fills up fast.

I love everything about this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere. It brings you to Japan when you enter the restaurant. The ramen was great with tasty soup and the pork. The fried chicken was yummy. They even refilled our iced green tea. So recommended!

What sort of trickery is going on here? How can a vegetable based ramen taste better than 99% of its Little Tokyo competitors? If you haven't tried this place out, now is the chance. I got the Pearl Ramen and my girlfriend got the Spicy Garnet. While both ramens were good, I preferred the Pearl much better. The only downside to this shop was the lack of AC. It wasn't hot that day, but due to all the heat that's generated inside the restaurant, I was sweating quite a bit and couldn't enjoy my food as much as I wanted. Hopefully they can get it fixed so that I can come back even if the weather isn't cold. Finding street parking is almost impossible so I always park at the Aiso Parking Garage on 1st St & Judge John Aiso St. It's shaded and most importantly, very cheap.

Service was great! Staff was very friendly, respectful and responsive to our needs. Food was very delicious and enjoyable! It’s different from other ramen places since the broth is vegetable based. The broth was still very enjoyable and savory and didn’t leave me with that “heavy” feeling you get from meat based broths. Got the spicy miso which I would get again. They have lots of vegan options. Shout to the staff for holding onto my friends’ mobile phone when we lost it! When we realized we lost a phone and pin pointed it back to the restaurant the staff immediately recognized us and gave us back the lost phone. So thank you!!!

My first time at RAKKAN Ramen DELTA and my taste buds were blown away! I ordered the takoyaki, instantly melts in my mouth! I’ll definitely come back for seconds with the Californian roll and Spicy Quartz ramen on the side. It’s not all spicy if your use to eating spicy foods! Service was top notch, friendly servers and warm atmosphere in such a small, yet quaint resturant!

Quick service, friendly wait staff, excellent choices, including vegan. I’d recommend an off time as Little Tokyo can get busy on the weekends but we called ahead and we’re able to be seated relatively fast. The gyoza was absolutely incredible

Overall: 4.3/5 (dine in) I always wanted to try vegan ramen and Rakkan Ramen looked like a great place to start. We came around 6 PM on a Friday night and were seated right away. The restaurant did start to fill up while we were dining there. My friend got the Garnet ($15.50). She let me try her broth which I thought had a stronger sesame than miso taste. I got their limited special creamy truffle vegan ramen ($17) which is available until 07.31.2023. This was recommended for people who love mushrooms since that is the dominant flavor. You taste the truffle as well but it's more subtle. The broth is creamy but it just doesn't hit the same like pork broth does. I added hot sauce which was actually spicy and gave my broth a kick. I also added a seasoned egg ($2) which wasn't as soft as other ramen places so I wouldn't get it again. They gave a good amount of vegetables too - loved the fried broccolinis. It was filling and I couldn't finish it all so I took ~40% home for my husband to try.

Rakkan has the best veg ramen! The noodles tasted so fresh and the broth was flavorful but not too salty. The vegan gyoza and bao were also excellent. The ambiance was nice as the restaurant itself isn't very large, so it wasn't super noisy or crowded. We parked in a nearby garage and walked over. Wait time wasn't too long for 2 people on a Sunday evening.

May 28th 2021: Great service, no complaints here. The inside is pretty small and they only 3 tables. However, there are a couple of more tables outside but they're only allowed to sit six persons per table and there's a waiting list. The food was good but I think there was something missing in the soup, it seemed a little bland or it needed some veggies. Parking may be a problem due to the location, but overall there's a slight possibility of returning here.

I came here on a recommendation from a Japanese friend, and he told me it was one of his favorite spots. I wanted to try their vegetable broth ramen, and wow, I was very impressed. I didn’t know it was possible to get that level of depth in a broth with just vegetable ingredients. Friendly service as well!

I was looking for some good ramen and this place was so good! I took the train so idk about parking. It was small inside so there was a short wait. Wait wasn't bad although I wish you didn't have to wait there because I felt like I was in the way on the sidewalk. But it was worth it. Workers were nice and the vegan ramen was so good. Good portion and price and really tasty. Highly recommend.

Is it the best vegan ramen in LA? No. Does the menu have a lot of vegan options? Heck yeah. The waitlist moves fairly quick and it’s a short walk from several parking lots, including my favorite, Aiso Street Parking.

These are some of the best noodles I have ever had! We called our order ahead of time and by the time we got there it was ready, so I cannot speak about the ambience of the restaurant. However, the food is SPECTACULAR. The ramen were delicious and fresh. It was also very filling. The pork buns were out of this world!! Definitely recommend.

Great late night ramen spot in Los Angeles' famous Little Tokyo District. I was able to order a vegetarian version of their "GARNET Ramen" and it was delicious and very filling. They're open past midnight, and had surprisingly fast service despite it being 1AM. Definitely check out RAKKAN for any late-night ramen cravings if you're in the area!

Five stars for vegan ramen, vegan shiitake buns, vegan gyoza. Garnet vegan ramen is the best. Five stars for Justin who has become our regular server - always has inside tips on what's new to try. Has outdoor seating - would be nice if more than three tables but the wait isn't usually that long. Has sani at the table for cleaning hands before eating. Very nice noodles - not at all mushy like some of the other places in the block. Perfect dinner directly after a happy hour at Far Bar.

Great ramen and gyozas as well as tasty sake, for a really good prices (when sharing). The staff was very friendly as well. For me a solid 4.6. Keep in mind that the waiting time can be up to over an hour tho, specially when coming in groups with more than 3 people.

I ordered the Amber Ramen and the crispy chicken. The Amber Ramen appears to be their main dish, and is a shoyu based broth (soy sauce) with an umami sauce blend of dried bonito and dried sardines. This means that this Amber ramen broth is not vegan. The dish is also served with thin noodles, bamboo, egg, and chashu. I think the broth was tasty for what it is, but doesn’t come toe to toe with a tonkatsu broth. The noodles and chashu were decent, and the egg was okay. The bamboo shoots and other toppings were sub par. If you are looking for a ramen restaurant that can accommodate both a vegan and a non-vegan, this can do it. For those looking for a rich tonkotsu ramen, this is an easy pass.

delicious ramen 👍🏻 I wish spicy garlic ramen is not a season only menu because it was so good. It’s one of few restaurants open afternoon around this area, runs happy hour too.

We had a wonderful time at Rakkan yesterday! It is located so close to the Japanese American Museum. The service was wonderful ! We tried the vegan gyoza, the buns, the hot brussels sprouts salad (SO GOOD!) and, of course, the amazing ramen. I really liked the Curry Ramen special with veggie noodles. It was all excellent! We arrived before the busy hours and enjoyed a lovely quiet early dinner outside.

I’ve visited this place a few times now and it’s consistently been an outstanding experience. Their menu offers a fantastic variety of vegan options and I’ve had the pleasure of trying both the spicy vegan garnet and the spicy vegan quartz ramen. While both are great, garnet ramen stands out for me - it’s just a touch spicier and the flavors are well balanced and satisfying. I’ve also enjoyed their vegan gyoza, both steamed and fried. The liked the steamed version better because its spicier and more robust flavor profile. Their service is also very efficient. Even during busy times when there’s a wait outside, their quick service means you’re seated and enjoying your meal in no time.

This place right here! OMG the service here is amazing and the people were super kind. The food so delicious and filling. Price is good also. Would eat here again if I lived in town.

On Sunday afternoon the dining room was 3/4 full and there was no wait. There seemed to be only one server working, and it seemed she was struggling to keep up with everything, and it was difficult to get even water served. The limited menu Spicy Curry Ramen was very salty and otherwise not quite spicy. Seems all the ramen we ordered were on the salty side. Takayama was decent.

  • 4/5 T C. 4 months ago on Google
The vegan ramen was delicious but the Takoyaki arrived Luke warm, was mostly batter and the little octopus that was in it was hard. I ended up giving them away to someone that didn’t want them going to waste. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. They have a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating for a small place in the epicenter of little Tokyo.

Got their Pearl bowl with a side of rice karage, so good. The fish broth punched me right in the mouth in a good way. Chicken with a touch of lemon and Mayonnaise to dip was a nice touch and complemented the ramen bowl. Service was good and food came out quick and hot. Highly recommended!

We got in late to LA on the 23rd. Rakkan was one of the only restaurants open in Little Tokyo that night and it was pouring down rain. We didn't have long to wait for a table. They check vaccine cards and IDs at the door before they seat you. Servers were awesome and the food was tasty! We all ordered the combo which was a bowl of ramen of your choice and another item of your choice. It's a lot of food! I enjoyed the spicy garlic pork ramen bowl and the spicy pork rice bowl. Will definitely visit again!

Unsatisfying. Ramen broth lacked depth and flavor. It has no smoothness, and was definitely not creamy. The egg was overcooked and cold ☹️. What saved the experience: pork belly was well executed, and the noodles were delicious.

This ramen store on across the street of the little tokyo entrance is cozy and fun to be. The ramen was good and the prices are acceptable. Sitting inside is a little bit hot. We sat outside with a little breeze during sunset.

Love this ramen spot. It’s vegan friendly. I had spicy garnet and my bf had vegan spicy garnet. The broth was rich and flavorful. The pork slices were soft and juicy. The portion was big. We also had the brussels sprouts salad which was bomb and shareable for two people. Food came fast too. Will be back :)

I live around 5 minutes away. This place is quickly becoming my favorite soup spot. It's such good ramen, and they use veggie broth. First off the vibe is very Japanese, the spot is small and always full of people. The waiters are fast and efficient. The soup itself is so good and they have a chili oil to add. I always get the spicey garnet, she's a favorite. I would end it with their green tea. mochi desserts

Wonderful late night experience at this cozy DTLA Ramen spot. I had the Creamy Truffle Vegan Ramen, which is only available till July/2023. It was creamy and rich with flavor😋 Super nice and informative waiter, and overall amazing service. Will definitely be back🙂

I really liked this place! It has a warm and cozy vibe and a small and wonderful crew of people running the place. Service was pretty quick and the food was quite good, I really liked the spicy garnet ramen and would totally recommend it. We went during lunch time on a Monday (a holiday though) and there was no wait.

Very tasty veggie broth. I had a spicy vegan ramen, which was delicious but I do wish it was a bit spicier or had a spicy paste I could add on my own. Very good!

The line is long for a reason! We were there at 9:15PM, waited around half an hour but it was worth it. They have quite a few vegan options for a small menu. And after the first few bites, I thought of applying to work here to steal their recipes.

  • 5/5 nichole w. 1 year ago on Google
Truly some of the best Ramen I’ve had. Wasn’t too pricey and the staff was very kind. There were vegan options. Tried the garnet is a good option for those who aren’t great with spice. If you get a chance definitely stop in
