Such an amazing location. Wild, loud and delicious. The food is great, the atmosphere special. It seems to be the local visited place itself. Its so simple, but great.

A tiny bar with a huge customer base, La Farola de Orellana ( The Lamp Post of Orellana ) found on Calle Moreno Monroy a tiny street in Central Malaga , about 3 minutes walk from the beautiful Cathedral of Malaga . It’s loud, with orders and requests shouted across the bar for TAPAS or MEDIO RACIONES ( larger plates ). The staff are fast friendly and efficient . This is definitely NOT a tourist trap and all the prices reflect this . It’s full of locals and altho we’re not locals we were warmly welcomed . La Farola has quite a wide range of traditional Andalucian food on offer, well prepared and served steaming hot . Delicious and rustic too . We all enjoyed , so much so that we’ll be returning several times over our next 6 days. Be brave , step off the beaten track , you won’t be disappointed by La Farola de Orellana. .

First time I’ve been there I enjoyed, service was good but then the second time I saw the major flaws. The food comes in pieces so if you order separately you will eat while your friends are watching which is not a nice thing. Getting the order sent or the bill takes ages so better go inside and pay. The food is acceptable in size, the price per person will end up somewhere at 10€+ per person. The meat dishes tends to have quite a bit of fat on them which is not my personal favorite. Overall it’s an okay place.

We spent several weeks in Spain, and we ate our first and last meals here. The gambas pil pil are a religious experience...I didn’t know prawns could have such a texture. The atmosphere cannot be beaten. Skip the line by eating at the bar, and just ask the owner (Juan, pictured) to bring you whatever he recommends. About two or three tapas per person if you are hungry. We just left, what a good time.

This place was so good that I went three times in the weekend I was in Malaga. Its cheap, you can combine the dishes, everything is worth trying but the things I remember were so good was the papas a la mala leche, solomillo al rockefort, los pimientos del Patron, los callos, la berenjena frita and the so damn good sombrerito! The beer is so cheap too and it feels traditional af to be there. Its gonna be squished thats for sure and gotta fight to be notice tho!

Amazing authentic tapas bar, a real hidden gem that won't disappoint! The Iberian sausage was unbelievable, as was the chorizo and goats cheese. Drinks are cheap, service is quick and the staff are great! Although the staff didn't speak much English, they still gave us a warm welcome and we communicated as well as we could! Highly recommend and I will be going back there whenever I get the chance!

(Translated by Google) A CLASSIC MALAGUEÑO. Orellana is one of those places in Malaga that, in addition to having good food, has a very particular charm. They have as many tapas and very good portions, and with an excellent product. I love their farolitos (an asparagus wrapped in ham and with a delicious cheese sauce). Also its crests, its pilpil prawns, sirloin, flamenquín, goat hats, stuffed mushrooms ... And the potatoes "a la mala leche" are tasty and spicy, hey! Hence the name, of course ... Personally, every time I've tried something new, I've liked it. Anything on the menu is worth it. And it already depends on what you want the most: whether a general tapas, fish, meat, Iberian ... And the prices are very good. It is one of those typical places that I like to take people who come to visit me from abroad. It seems to me a very authentic place and worth knowing, because it shows you a lot of our gastronomy, our lifestyle and our character, because our sympathy and good humor can be seen in its staff and in the same coexistence that exists between diners . A nice place to stand and drink your beer or your wine, while enjoying some delicious tapas, talks and laughs. Hopefully COVID returns us to normal one day, and we can continue to enjoy this site as we used to. Meanwhile, we adapt, because the truth is worth it.

It’s very rare to give 5 stars but this place deserves them. It was recommended by my landlord as her choice when she goes out for tapas and I went twice. It can be hectic on Fridays/Saturdays as it is very crowded. I actually found a nice spot on the bar and I ate a lot of tapas. They are just amazing. I spent two weeks in Seville with terrible food in many different places. This tapas bar is a hidden gem at the heart of the historic centre. The staff is amazing, lots of locals eating there , the vibe is superb. You eat amazing food, drink great wine and socialise with people around you! Highly recommended!

Great, authentic and original tapas bar. Comprehensive range of food served by a very happy and helpful staff who, even without English (I have no Spanish) were easy to communicate with. I can say no more - excellent tapas bar but don't expect a comfortable seat!!

Wonderful experience!! A pity that we didn’t take any pictures. We ordered small portion oxtail, scallops, shrimp skewers, fried eggplant with honey and a pork skewer, all very delicious!! It is a small and crowded bar, mostly for local people so they don’t have english menu, but the food quality is over our expectation, and the staff was also very kind and friendly! Highly recommend.

I love this little tapas bar. It can become very busy and getting served can take time but that's what makes this place special. Its authentic tapas, the staff work hard and will get to you. Find a seat, sit back and enjoy the atmosphere on a busy day, grab some amazing tapas and a beer or wine and enjoy a real authentic tapas experience.

Nice little tapas bar, tucked away into a street. Full of Spanish, so had high hopes being the only tourists! Did not disappoint, very tasty dishes and filling too. Very small bar so limited seating, and others were standing up at side bars to eat. Only dropped a star, since we didn’t receive one of our dishes and got charged twice!

  • 5/5 Lucas Z. 5 months ago on Google
Small tapas place with very limited seating. Definitely worth visiting, although will be hard to sit unless you're lucky or wait outside for it to open. Large selection of tapas - all that we tried were great, with the ox cheek and the callos standing out. Normal prices, friendly staff.

  • 5/5 Leonardo Hirsch P. 6 months ago on Google
Vibrant atmosphere, busy, people queuing by the door before the place even opened. The service is great, I don't know how they keep track of orders but my bill came out perfect. Then we get to the food. I just wish I had a bigger stomach to try more things or someone to share more tapas with. Truly outstanding and authentic food. No wonder this place is a gem mid touristy area. Lots of well informed tourists but lots of locals as well. I'd definitely come back there!

  • 5/5 Paul B. 6 months ago on Google
Decided to pop in for a glass of wine and some tapa after walking passed and seeing it wasn't too busy (not something I'd normally do in Malaga) Sat at the bar looking at all of the incredible seafood. The white wine was delicious and very cold which was appreciated. For food the pinchitos were excellent, loved the Langoustine and Jamón one, as well as the lamb one. Had a few delicious mini scallops too, bathed in a garlic butter, luckily I had plenty of bread for dipping. Service was friendly and there were English menús available for those who need them.

  • 5/5 Lisandra Y. 6 months ago on Google
This bar deserves more than 5 stars as the food and service by the waiters are top notch. We specially enjoyed the wines, potatoes in spicy sauce, iberico ham, eggplant and cheese pinchito, and champiñones.

Busy bar for the locals in Málaga center, really busy all the time, the locals never move for you to get a drink .... the idea is to shout and get the attention of the waiter behind the bar... no table service.... all self service... The food comes fast and hot, snails and boquerones are the quick snacks that the bar is famous.. The staff have seen it all and move really fast.. you have to ask or you won't get...

This is a really buzzing place full of locals. It is tucked away down a narrow passageway just off the main shopping street but could be a million miles away in terms of character and atmosphere. We went for a last drink one evening around 11.30 p.m. and it was still busy and people eating tapas. The following lunchtime we tried to get in for something to eat but very busy and no seat (seating only at the bar). Food looked fab and everyone tucking in and chatting away. Mixed ages of people - one to definitely find again when we go back

This bar was an excellent place which was busy with locals for tapas and wine. You will find some unique tapas in this bar, for example, patata mala leche that we had for the first time. This place is in the centre of Malaga, the tapas selection is diverse and it is very popular with locals, kind of a meeting place for locals to catch up and socialise too, the delicious taste ambience and friendly staff all provides a very nice tapas experience.
