“New life from war’s destruction proclaims man’s immortality and hope for peace” Eight thousand two hundred and ninety one Americans found their final rest at this serene spot in the Netherlands. One thousand seven hundred and twenty two others are recorded missing from the period leading up to September 1944 when Germans troops used the nearby highway to withdraw from countries occupied for the four years leading up to that point. It is beyond touching to walk amongst my fellow veterans, myself about to return to a land they will never see again. Standing among visitors as the only English speaker in earshot it is humbling to see the appreciation shown for the memories of an allied force with no one knowing I’m the lone American and it’s my country they are respecting.

Americans gave their lives to defeat the Nazis and the Dutch have never forgotten. A beautiful and peaceful memorial to the fallen, and an inspiration that local families are grateful for the honor of caring for a gravesite. As an American, I am thankful for sacrifice of our soldiers and the dedication of the Dutch people to their memory. We all should be...

Recently visited this impressive place. The parking is free and toilets were available. First, you pass the Court of Honor, where all the names of those who were never recovered are inscribed. Some names have a bronze star which means they were were later found. After passing the chapel you enter the cemetery where the numbers of the fallen soldiers are really put into perspective. There is a small visitor center with the stories of those who received the Medal of Honor on display, there is currently a new visitor center under construction. Everything is well attended to. Everything is wheelchair accessible. This place is really worth a visit to pay our respects to those who fought for freedom.

I was at the Netherlands American Cemetery this past week. A beautiful tribute to our fallen soldiers during WWII. It was special seeing this with snow on the ground. Beautiful chapel. Thank you to all the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces. We owe our Freedom and Liberty to your sacrifice.

My uncle is buried there. It's a beautifully solemn place. I'm stunned by all the people upset over their dogs not being allowed in. Some of the most selfish comments I've ever heard.

One of the essential experiences for an American traveling Europe, aside from all the native cultures, is to go see an American cemetery from the world wars. No picture or video of the iconic field of simple white crosses can possibly do justice to the enormity of the sacrifice that you realize when seeing them all laid before you in person. We came to visit a relative on the Wall of the Missing, and left feeling gratitude and pride at the dedication to their memories exhibited here. The grounds and structures are immaculate, and the staff is outstanding. Thank you again.

An absolutely beautiful cemetery that is the final resting place for over 8,000 Americans from WWII. If you are in this area of the Netherlands, I wholeheartedly recommend that you place the cemetery on your itinerary.

A somber and beautiful reminder of many of the great men and women that lost their lives during the war. Thank you to all our US Veterans. Excellent map and explanation of movements during WWII.

A very beautiful American cemetery that is also the only American cemetery in the Netherlands. And where more than 8000 fallen soldiers are buried, there are also 6 soldiers who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. And there are even 40 sets of brothers buried next to each other. This cemetery is well worth a visit

An extremely sad place that shows the magnitude of World War II devastation. A place where the souls of many a man roam in despair as they will never make it home to their families. An apology to wars that doesn’t show enough how devastating this war really was for everyone in Europe.

Went to Margraten to be the first visitor to my uncle buried there. There is a family who adopted his grave in 1944 and have cared for it ever since. I had no idea that graves were adopted. Met this wonderful family there. It was a humbling yet amazing experience. I found myself unable to adequately thank them. Robert Gale
