A good initiatives but poor maintenance. I have visited the museum yesterday. Entry fee is ₹-5/- per person. Staffs are very helpful. About there are 3000 above sculptures are kept inside the museum but some valuable sculptures are kept without any care just under the open sky. Government should be responsible for preserving those ancient valuable sculptures. I think it's an inspiration for the students and also who like it. I think status are not maintained properly, full of dust there when I have visited. My humble request to the governing body please give attention for preserving our culture. But overall it's a nice place with historic atmosphere. 👍🏻

Must visit place in town that offers a unique view of culture and heritage through sculptures, paintings, woodcraft, etc. The work showcases the culture across a few centuries and a few religions. The 3000+ artefacts are mostly created by students of the govt college. There aren't many labels. Halls/rooms that host these artefacts don't have lights or fans switched on as the footfall is very low here even on the weekends. This is a hidden gem of a place, hence the advice that it is a must visit place. Parking is across the entrance. Ticket price is negligible. Expect to spend at least an hour of you love a good craftwork.

It has many sculptures inside. For Hinduism, Christianity, and other religions related. Many old and new sculpture from various parts of history. When you are visiting Shore temple and Five Rathas then this must be in list atleast to support. Ticket price is just five rupees but it's encouraging for people here.

Sculpture Museum Mahabalipuram is an Open-air museum featuring an extensive selection of ancient monuments, sculptures & Hindu temples. The ancient rock carvings and the intricate details of the sculpture can be seen in this place. The temples, old monuments and their designs are the main attractions that bring tourists from different parts of the country to this place. But walk in without high expectations and you won't be disappointed. Entry ticket is just INR 10.00 so don't expect to experience 'The Louvre of Paris'. Worth a shot.

famous for its elaborate collection of sculptures and images of god and goddesses of Hindu mythology. There are more than 3,000 sculptures can be found in this museum. All the sculptures bear the historic significance and the tales of the by-gone days. In the display of the museum there are sculptures made of wood, metal, brass and cement. There are creations of ancient artists to the contemporary ones. Mahabalipuram is the seat of culture and sculpture. The detailed architecture and the images of god and goddess depict the bounty of the Gupta Empire. Not only Hindu mythology but the Buddhists sculptures and images too, exist in the temple town. The monolithic statues, the Rathas (chariots), sculptured relief and their miniature can be seen in the museum.

It was really beautiful. We reached there around 12 o clk intje afternoon so because of hot we both become fully tired. If anyone planning carry caps, shades. Drink to many water 💧. If we dont drink water body will get dehydrated so drinking water helps to keep us safe. If u like shopping so many items available near by roads like dress, kitchen utensils, necklace, Keychain, stone art. Diffrent foods and cold drinks available like lime soda, tender coconut, butter milk also. Museum timing is afternoon 2 to 4pm morning 9 to 12.30pm. So plan accordingly
