Very expensive but quantity is too low. When you go to a madurai based restaurant you expect rice in banana leaf with different varieties of non-veg gravies, but here you get only one option which is highly disappointing. The name they have earned in Madurai has been lost in chennai. Worst place. They have valet parking.

NICE EXPERIENCE Visited Madurai Kumar Mess after almost eight years of their presence in Vadapalani. The restaurant was very crowded and we felt that it will take long time to get our seat but got ours in 10 minutes which was quick. Then immediately they took and to our surprise food was delivered very fast. The taste of food was very good and authentic. Special mention of their customer service done with nice smile and polite. Will comeback to explore more of their cuisines.Amole parking for two wheeler and car. Pls do visit and check it out

Very worst restaurant, very crowded like fish market. Very worst infrastructure. Prices are so costly but quality and quantity of food will be very less. Even you spend 500 also you won't get enough food for a person. If we are planning to visit hotel, eat well and then we need to go then only the food provided by them will be enough. No much varieties. Ly side dishes no main food to eat. Hospitality very worst. Ambience very worst. If you feel hungry better to avoid that hotel. Limited meals 100 Rs that only we can consume there apart from that all other are not good.

Madurai Kumar Mess offers simple yet tasty non-veg meals. However, pricing(150/-) seems high, as there is no meat served in this non veg meals. Additionally the Chicken Pepper roast, was way too expensive(300/-) considering the quantity provided. Adjusting the pricing could enhance the overall dining experience.

I went to the restaurant last week with my family for a lunch, with which, I’m writing this review. The restaurant is easily approachable, located at a prime location next to the Lakshman Shruthi Musicals. Parking would be a problem if arriving by car, as it is located near to the signal. Yet, would be sorted out by the staff assigned. Coming to the restaurant, it was extremely crowded and we waited for around 20 mins to grab a table. There is no proper arrangements or space for the waiting area and can hold up to a maximum of people of 6 to 8. But on the other hand, the service is remarkably good. We got our food delivered within minutes. We got the traditional feel as the food was served on a banana leaf. Moving on to the food, we ordered a plethora of items like mutton biryani, chicken chukka, chicken intestine gravy, lollipop, mutton chukka etc. All the items mentioned above were well cooked and flavoursome. To a mention, mutton chukka stands out of the box and it is a must-try here. Thoroughly enjoyed the food here and the ambience was pretty good. The food was as similar and authentic as the restaurant’s main outlet in Madurai. Tremendously needs an appreciation for the efforts. But, the pricing could be slightly reduced as the quantity of the food was significantly low. Overall, if you’re looking for a Chettinad style cuisine this place is worth the try in Chennai.

Best Location and Good Ambience..when it comes to food I higly recommend to try their Non Veg Fish curry meals ,omg the best I have ever tasted outside and and the gravy contains 4 to 5 small fish which tastes awesome..I see everyone going for biriyani and missing this worthy meals and the vanjaram tastes great but costs 300 a piece.. Overall great and I'll come back again for the fish meals

Taste is good. Staff members are very polite and good ambience for a good family/friend food meet-up. I felt prices were at a bit higher end. Easily accessible from public transports. Recommended 👍🏽 I would have given it a 5 stars if the prices were affordable.

Come here to have a very hearty meal. If you are a vegetarian and cannot stand the aroma of meat and fish which is overwhelming, do not come here, even to accompany your non veg people. The chicken porichu leg is fantastic- perfect roast and juicyness. Loved the chicken kozhambu with egg dosa. Mutton kola urundai was decent and mutton chukka is very good. The food sits light on your stomach and you don't feel heavy even after a hearty sumptious meal. The oil is not overpowering. Also chicken lollipop- 👌. Do not try the payasam, instead a good lime water.

The restaurant has a variety of options including mutton , chicken , quail, fish , crab and rabbit . I had chicken chukka , mutton biriyani , and quail curry , each of them was delicious. The waiting time was very less. The restaurant has a decent ambience. This restaurant falls into a medium to high expensive category.

Excellent place for having tiffin items. Their service is very good and fast. The ambience was very pleasant and neat. We tried egg paratha, paratha, idli, chicken chukka, prawn pepper roast and kal dosa. Everything was awesome. Even their side curries were very tasty. So a must try place. They have a branch in tambaram. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the best restaurants in chennai. The rich savouring taste of mutton biriyani and mutton sukka was mind-blowing. The pieces were cooked to perfection. Non veg meals was amazing as well and since I have a sensitive stomach, I can assure you , I was fine after the heavy meal I had. Go for it! Price is same as all top restaurants but, on the bright side they're not stingy with quantity. Always crowded, wait time was 5mins since we dropped by on a weekday. Not the same for weekends and festival seasons. Staff are sweet and tend to all your needs. Bon appetit people!

The food here is soo good! But the quantity is crazy less for the amount of price they charge. Service is super fast. Mutton Dosa is extremely small, almost size of an omlette and it's charged 350. And this ain't a place for veg guys, none of the veg dishes were good, but each n every non veg dish tasted really good. Mutton biriyani here is a must try. This place has good parking space.

The first thing we noticed in the menu was that they had mentioned the weight of each item in the menu. When we were served the food only we understood why it was given there. The portion size was very less compared to other restaurants and the price we are paying for the items. We couldn't complain as the restaurant already had done a proactive declaration of the portion size by weight in the menu. Other than the portion size, the food taste and quality was good.

I never had this kind of bad experience. I went along with my friends on 17.9.22 where we planned to eat as much as to fulfil us. But No one returned with satisfaction. I never visited the hotel which cost this high price. We order just 5 items which cost 2.5k. Even though we ordered at least we expected some food quantity. We were very disappointed with all the food items. They cost 350 for prawn fry, but we received only 8 to 9 pieces. We were shocked and ate everything with unsatisfied appetite and mind. If you wanna experience the same, make sure you have 5k per head then only you feel half of enough.

Amazing amazing food.. All Chettinad dishes are yummy. Crab curry to Prawn curry everything was awesome. Best this is their service time - you will have to wait hardly less than 2 mins for your food. Valet parking available.. But the pain point is that the price is too too high other than the non veg meal (180rs) all other dishes cost an avg of 350rs. Quantity is toooo low

This place is a non-vegetarian and seafood lovers paradise. Anybody who loves the unique Madurai cuisine would like this place. While veg options are not too many, the staff went out of their way to recommend veg versions of popular dishes using mushrooms. Very tasty and good service. The staff knows what they are serving and will make good recommendations.

Amazing food and excellent service, parking was good with valet, yet the traffic on road was bad to pull out the car from the restaurant.

Good Place in Vadapalani. Great spread for Non Veg lovers. They have Chicken, Fish, Mutton, Crab, Duck among other stuff. Variety of preparation, with fast service and less waiting time even during peak hours. Price is little on a higher side, but I guess good quality comes with a price. Will recommend for sure!

Messes are known for offering generous portions of food at affordable prices. They prioritize providing wholesome meals without compromising on quality or taste. It's an excellent option for those looking for a satisfying and budget-friendly dining experience. "Value for Money"

Large dining area Most of the basic varieties available Peak hour waiting hour less as compare to other hotels. Kari dosa was the smallest I have had in my life and tastes was not as expected. Other items tasted good.

Awesome place, Best restaurants to have lunch, especially for family. We loved Non Veg meals and Soups. The food was delicious and superb taste. The gravies they provide along with meals are very tastier. The place is usually crowded so we waited for 30 minutes. Rest all are good. Had a good experience.

Uncomfortable seats, costly food. The sodas are past their expiry dates...with original markings rubbed off and different expiry dates on labels.

Visiting this place for past 5 years. Homely food. Perfect taste. Maintaining their quality regularly. Fish gravy and fry items in menu should be must try. Mutton verities are good. Well boiled rice which is rarely seen in hotels. Happy with their service

Yummy biriyani and mouth watering side dishes. Parotta was too good . I loved their Illaneer payasam.

Decent food on a costly tale.. If you're a gang of 5 and order 10 dishes, you end up paying close to 3.5 to 4k..!! Otherwise the taste and quality of the food is decent!

Best place for authentic chettinadu food. Must try mutton dishes and mutton biriyani. Quantity seems less but feel good for stomach to try more dishes. Price is little high but worth it for a family get-together.

Good food..however mood got spoilt when the parking attendants asked me to park the car outside the hotel on the platform while there was so much space to park within the hotel compound. I am uncomfortable giving my car to others, hence I didn't give my car keys to them. I was ready to park it wherever they ask me to within the premises but keep the key with me. But they wanted me to handover the key to them irrespective of where I park. I was made to park outside the hotel on the platform which made me really uncomfortable as it was a congested area and it wasn't good on my part to park the vehicle on the platform leaving no space to walk for the pedestrians. I had to speak to the manager inside the hotel to park inside and finally they agreed. But I guess after my experience i wouldn't be stepping into that place again. I value good customer service. This was outrageous to me.
