Footprint of fishing cat (හඳුන් දිවියා) in uragala. Katuskonda is very dangerous place because rocks are slippery when wet. Therefore travel safely.

Urgaala is adjoing Katusu Konda and is the highest point in the Hanthana range. There are two ways to arrive here, I took the entry from Mahakanda. You can drive up from there to a kovil where you can park the car. From there on, to the Uplands Estate houses is about 500m. There on will be the climb. It's technically a straight climb up. There might a small footpath opened up from the trees for you to go, if you can't find one, you can make one as long as you reach the top. At one point however you will have to trek a rock that is at a 60 degree angle and then eventually make your way to Uragala. Katusu Konda is adjoining Uragala. Urgaala has a decent viewpoint where Hanthana and many other landmarks can be seen. It's a wonderful place to take pictures but you have to be mindful of your steps. There is a cave underneath which can be accessed and that gives another perspective At the end of the rock, you will find the entrance to Katusu Konda. Untouched nature and it is one experience you should not miss. Do's Carry at least 5 litres of water per person. It can get hot. There are no sources of water or food on the way. Wear shoes (ones with good grip), long sleeves and pants since there are thorns and bushes that you need to go through Carry food to the top. Buy the supplies from the shop adjoining the kovil, else you won't find anything on top Don'ts Don't climb the rock it it is raining. It is going to be slippery Bring back what you take up. Don't leave anything Avoid lighting flames since it can cause fires.

This journey was organized within 2 days. For this journey Adeesha, Sanjeewa, Pramoth was joined with me😎. Unfortunately, Daham, Darshana, Dilshan, Chinthaka, Mahesh, Salik were doesn't joined with us🙄. We planned to start the trekking in the early morning but weren’t😁🤣. I met Adeesha & Pramoth @ UOP, then I went to pick up Sanjeewa ayya from his house😉. Here after strait away we went to my cousin sister’s home to park our motorcycles😎. Then we get in to, Mahakanda bus🤭. The bus is only to Mahakanda🤭🤣, so we hired a tuk to travel Sarasavigama🙄. We've got down at Sarasavigama & started to walk😉. We walk toward to Uplands Tea Factory road. After walking about 1300 meters we saw a Hindu Kovil in that area🤔. If you willing to travel by Motorcycle you can ask Grama Niladari Lady for parking facility😊 (Her house is located next to Kovil). Some of Adeesha's friends were coming by scooters and above-mentioned Lady provided parking facilities at her home🤨. So, we have still more 1100 meters to go🤨. Actually, you can travel this using a motorcycle or by a 4 x 4 jeep🤔. (A car can be managed) The road ends near 2nd Division Uplands Line Houses🤨. From here you have to travel by foot🚶‍♂‍. So, we started our trekking around 11 o'clock🙄🤨. First, we headed through Mana bushes. Highly recommend long sleeve shirts & trousers😂🤷‍♂‍. There is a slightly visible path to Uragala Mountain😉. After 400 meters the path becomes to paths🤨😂. We chose which is suitable for us. Around 11.45 a.m. we reached the first 30-degree angle slope of the rock. Due to harsh sunlight, the rock was heavily heated🤷‍♂‍😣. We started to climb that too, it was a bit too easy😋. but There were occasions when the slope of the rock was increased🧗‍♂‍. We reached Uragala Peak @ 12.45 p.m.💪 We had our lunch & Got some photographs. Then we reached to the Summit🧗‍♂‍😊. After that we went to seek what we came for. The 45-degree angle Rock Platform🤗. To reached there you need to trust your Confidence😉😎. After tacking some Photographs, we started to climb down the Uragala Peak. Climbing is much easy than climbing down it😋🙊 Over an 8.4km hike we reached to Sarasavigama town and we hop in to a CTB bus. We get down @ Doluwa Junction to get our Motorcycles from my cousin sisters’ home😂😉. FYI - 01 - There is No Water in the Uragala Mountain. (Bring as much as you need) 02 - Don't Hike Uragala Peak on Rainy Days (Rocks get Slippery & you'll end up your life if you fall) 03 - Don't Hike alone. (Green Leopards and Bulls live in the area) 04 - Please leave only Footprints & Take photos much as you want 05 - Don't use Alcohol while hiking & don't Destroy the Nature (Some of the idiots use Alcohol and smashed the bottles in the rocks. Beware of sharpie glass shatters) 06 - Please leave your Portable sounds system while traveling nature. (It’s Annoying to wildlife in the area) 07 - The hike difficulty is Moderate (in case of emergency pack a medical kit - including bandages, Betadine, Gauze, Jeewani, Knee guard, Ankle guard)

Great place to spend some quality time with nature. It is surrounded by mountains and the view is serene. You have to reach the Peak through an abandoned estate area with a small hike of around 1.5 km from the road.

Don't hike during the rainy season. It's really dangerous. Ideal period is from February to August. You can see the whole Kandy city on the top.

This is the highest point of Hantana Mountain Range. You will enjoy the panoramic view of this Mountain at Lanka Peter's House Tourist Guest House and Restaurant. It's about two hours hike from Lanka Peter's House.
