June 23rd At Alex you can't go wrong, you won't be disappointed, you know that you're getting good food with very friendly and courteous staff. Been there several times as a couple or family. Nice interior and the outdoor seating is also comfortable. Oct 23 Today we sat outside again in the wonderful autumn weather. As always, there was a lot going on. The staff was again friendly and polite, there were actually enough employees there but somehow everything took a long time today, even though they were really working and running. We waited over 20 minutes just to place the order, and another 40 minutes passed until the food came. But the food was good and presented to the eye. The flavor of the citrus mint lemonade would be even better if there was less/no ice in it. You pay over €6 for 0.5 liters and then the glass is over 1/3 full of ice, what a shame!

Their treatment is racist and impolite, and it seems that some religions are not welcome. My wife and daughter were abused, and a table was not provided to us and presented to seven people, then two people, then two others without waiting, the absence of reservations, the presence of empty tables, and while informing the manager of what happened, an employee came in the clothes of the kitchen chef and expelled me for any racism in This place is surprising that something like this happens in Germany

I was a bit worried after looking at the reviews, but let me assure you! The bad reviews are 100% correct, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Trust me, we waited one hour for the wrong order. The steak & fries is just taking the piss . I came in thinking that you can never go wrong with a steak, i was right there. But trust me, they showed me that you can go wrong with everything else. We spent a lovely afternoon. Eat good. Service was very friendly and not intrusive, but had to be spoken to twice when we wanted to pay. We'd love to come back

I've had a beer twice now and the waiters are always completely overwhelmed. It takes forever until something comes or you can pay. The drinks are not brought at the same time, which is a bit incomprehensible to me. I already have mine while my friends have to wait another 10 minutes. By then my beer will no longer be fresh. Guys, things need to be a lot better and more coordinated here. That does not work like this!! Food is average. Franziskaner beer is good, but when it comes to the waiting time, no.

We visited Alex on Friday with 3 people, without prior reservation. First of all, it has to be said that the “Mainz shines” event was taking place in the city center that day. The Alex was full to capacity and the service was at its limit (as we found out when paying, there were two absences due to illness). We had ordered pizza rolls as a starter, with the request that we receive two aioli instead of one aioli and one herb dip. I also ordered an aiolidip with my Wiener-style schnitzel, which was then forgotten when it was served. Starter and main course came together, which I don't like at all. The pizza rolls only came with a dip; the missing dip for my schnitzel was added later. Cheeky here: the extra aioli dip was charged even though one was missing from the pizza rolls. The food was of the usual good Alex quality, as you would expect from other cities. Since we are actually Alex fans, we will try again when there is no event.

The food was delicious. Unfortunately, however, the plates were only half full... very little food for the prices paid. Staff was okay to nice.

The location is nice and the food is also good, but the fact that the side salad pictured costs EUR 3.90 extra is definitely a star deduction. Demanding so much money for such a measly bowl of salad is simply an impudence/usury.

We were served by Zafar, we haven't experienced such an attentive and nice waiter in a long time. We were there for breakfast, delicious coffee and generally a solid selection. The warm dishes were a bit too salty, but that's probably a matter of taste.

Nice breakfast/brunch buffet at Alex in Mainz with my brother. But for me there's not much choice if you don't particularly like eating eggs or pork

The "big" baked potato was a joke. The taste was good but not big at all and for 9.60 it was a joke. I have inserted a picture. When I told the waiter this when I asked if everything was ok, he left without a comment and then ignored us. It's a shame that it's not possible to deal with criticism professionally here. The experience was a good one. The place is very popular and the service staff are friendly. Make sure that if you come here that you have some time to spare. We really loved the food here, we highly recommend it.

Nice atmosphere as the design is nice. One waiter was super kind- a very sweet person. The others gave off a rather unfriendly, annoyed vibe - classic German Servicekultur. About the food (İ am a foody and in a pursuit of quality food): it was very disappointing. We ordered several desserts and not one of them was tasty. İt's a quite busy place though- but it was probably my last time.

Colourful place for drinks and/or food with friendly&quick service. Family friendly: place for a stroller, they offered a high chair and support heating up baby food. Would return and recommend this place for families.

Amazingly did not tell us that no cards were accepted. To be honest we would of not come here if we had known as through our card we get credit that we can use at certain restaurants. Without this we really would not come here. In future please inform people if payment with cards is not available. The food is obviously precooked in most cases and warmed up on site....

They tried to make the menu so diverse, not really taken care of the quality of food. The restaurant was too noisy

Dreadful for gluten free The first person was so unhelpful we couldn't believe it, so we waited five minutes and asked another one who said they had no food which didn't contain gluten so we had to go elsewhere. Which we did. Simply unacceptable to have no service at all, they basically couldn't be bothered.

Old and bad quality ouzo. They claim that it is normal that it doesnt get white. The "manager" was very arrogant, not even trying to understand and forcing us to pay. Such a shame, just change your job

We had the Thai shrimp bowl with extra shrimps and a glass of grauburgunder trocken. The food had a nice combination of flavours and the wine was a good match.

Very slow service. Food quality is average. Drinks are okay. Did have problems with a neat scotch. They added ice and let it sit long enough for the ice to melt completely. Staff seemed extra stressed and unfriendly. Plus for Non-alcoholic cocktails and vegetarian food options. Minus for food and service

We’ve waited inside at our table for 20 minutes, all the waiters were looking at us and none of them approached us. Moral of the story: we walked out on an empty stomach. They should be ashamed of this poor service.

Welcoming ambiance with nice music. Service is quick, polite and practical. Food was tasty and arrived fast. Options to seat inside or outside. Casual place with great food selection!

I will never be again in this Café! Yesterday I was there for a breakfast and my sister shared her food to me, but a brown hair waitress came and noticed us! She also did a mistake in our bill and I told her to edit it! The worst staff in the world!

This is a great place for lunch, nice atmosphere to be with friends. The quality of their food was great, the only bad thing is the wait. They tend to get very busy sometimes you'll be waiting quite sometime for your drinks or food perhaps. Other than that it's a great place if you don't mind the wait.

Good food for a fair price. The highlight were the house-made lemonades. Try them! The waiters were very friendly and the toilets are clean.

I was not very satisfied. I ordered Thai Red Chicken curry 🍛 but it was a small portion for 12,90€ and it was not so delicious… I don’t suggest it. But Chai Late was not bad

If there were 0 stars I would have given them. Of course it can happen that ingredients (mint for Mojito) are no longer available. As an alternative, we were offered and served a Caipirinha. After checking again with the bartender, it was served and we were informed that the machine for crushed ice was unfortunately broken. There was a large chunk of ice cube in the glass. As expected, the cocktail didn't taste good at all and we sent it back. The bartender came up to us again and asked what was missing. No idea! Maybe crushed ice and the right mix. When we asked for the bill, the cocktail was still on it and we complained. But that was too late for the waitress??? He could also call the police. Rarely have I heard something so laughable. It's not our fault they can't make proper cocktails. After a lot of back and forth, the waitress took pity on us and waived the price for the cocktail that we didn't even drink... Thank you very much too! Never again!!!
