Finally somewhere has got it right! 100% Amazing "pub" food, better than what you'd expect without trying to be something it's not. Prompt friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. Comfortable seats! Simple ingredients blended in such a way to make amazing dishes. After talking to one of the waiters, we discovered everything is cooked from scratch. one of the best meals ourt we've ever had. If we return to Manchester again, we will definitely be calling here.

I had the pate to start which was nice, the pate it self lacked a bit of seasoning. Vegan Wellington was very pleasant. The head waiter was a lovely man, who was coping with a lot when I visited, lack of staff and no gas in the kitchen.

Incredible. Waitress is one of the friendliest and most considerate I have ever met, and the food is to die for. We had the artisan bread with dripping, and spicy chipolatas for the table. The bread is wholesome, full of grains and perfect for swiping through the dripping. The chipolatas (6 in a small bowl) burst with flavour and juices and pack a fiery kick. The chicken and leek pie is THE single best I've ever had, undescribably delicious. My partner ordered the fish and chips and was kind enough to share a bite. The haddock is large and flaky, very pleasant, while the batter is light, crispy and perfectly compliments the fish. The chips are delicious, crispy outside and fluffy inside and by no means dry. The portion sizes of the mains are exceptionally generous and the prices are very reasonable, given the quality of food. The atmosphere is friendly with the restaurant being downstairs, a perfect temperature and a grateful escape from the sudden heatwave we are currently experiencing. It's rustic, heavy wooden tables, leather booths, and wood panelled ceiling. Soft lighting, not quiet due to the bar upstairs but muted enough to hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. They have found the perfect balance here and I would absolutely recommend for a couple, or a group of friends.

Came here on a busy Friday early evening, sat in the bar area, was a lovely atmosphere inside, nice and warm, and I must say, some great tunes playing in the background! Had mixed selection of bar snacks, all delicious! A couple drinks and cocktails (got there for happy hour where cocktails 2 for £12), shout out to the 2 lovely Barmen Lewis & Paul, always serving us with a smile. Thanks FH, we’ll be back soon!

The trouble with setting high standards and expectations is that you have either meet or exceed them. In this it was good but only close to excellent. Close, but no cigar. Ordering on the website is easy and the frequent offers in my email inbox are appreciated. Having left an Easter weekend order until late and not being sure of my plans, I opted for collection over delivery. A call received shortly after to confirm acceptance and agree a collection day, then radio silence. On the day and as previously, any attempt to call rings out until a recorded message advises that the mailbox is full. From previous orders I have the mobile number of one of the staff so text him to make final arrangements and again when I arrive at the Albert Square location, parking outside Red's True Barbecue in a meter bay. Last time, they brought my order out but this time I'm waiting on the steps until my presence is acknowledged, then El Jefe trots past me and in. He reappears with my order in a box and I'm home to squeeze it all into the fridge. I don't check the contents or recipe sheet. On the day of tucking in, I get it all out of the fridge and loom at the recipe sheet. It's for a different menu. I've got the Easter lunch special for one and the pork belly and sticky toffee for another. The website helps me with some of these but it's then that I also realise that I should have Yorkshire pudding and two gravies. I have one, large, pot of gravy and no Yorkshires. A bit of trial and error and the meals are cooked and served. Once on the plate, it's all good albeit that desserts don't come up to the same standard on size or quality as the starters and mains.

I went here for a Sunday roast after looking for a vegan one online. The Sunday menu is very vegan friendly and quite interesting unlike most non vegan restaurants! The roast itself was really nice, parsnip purée and the potatoes were the best part. The meat alternative was a wellington, which I could tell was filled with Beyond meat or burger. Normally this would annoy me that it is bought in however, I did enjoy how well it went on the roast and the pastry was perfect. I would expect something made in house as a gastro pub and given the price of £17.50 which is slightly disappointing but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The presentation was also very good and made the dish very appealing. The actual restaurant was really nice, clean and modern but there was one other table so there was no atmosphere and the service I seemed a bit shaky. The staff were very friendly and the food came out very quickly. I like seeing food being plated up in an open kitchen in view of the dining area and I noticed the kitchen looked very clean and organised. Overall I would go back and recommend to other vegans but I’d hope it would be busier next time I go!

K-Club hosted a lunchtime event in the Memorial Hall earlier this year and everything was great from start to finish. We were well looked after by the team on the day in our private setting with separate entrance, bar & facilities; they were flexible with our requests on service times and we we didn't feel rushed at all. All IT worked as hoped which is always a relief!! Food and setting were lovely - lots of positive feedback from our guests. We're already looking forward to returning in early next year.

Attended fountain house for lunch to take advantage of the January 50% off deal. Hadn’t visited before. It’s a lovely venue and the food is reasonably good, staff were friendly and polite. However, unfortunately the service showed room for improvement. On arriving, I was given food menus, but not offered the vegan menu or the drinks menu. When the food came, we were not offered any condiments or salt/pepper/vinegar and one of the parties food was cold, thought they did change this and made a fresh portion, although it meant everyone else had finished eating before she got her meal. Then we asked for dessert menu and one dessert was ordered. After ordering, we were told that this dessert was not available and so chose something else - the waiter returned saying there was a problem with this too, so the dessert was cancelled. When the bill came, we had to ask for the discount as it hadn’t been put on, and then we realised the dessert we hadn’t had was there too. Then the process of paying became complicated and we were left feeling that the whole experience was just hard work. Some of these issues alone would have been ok as I know it’s hard to remember everything, but it was just a bit much on this occasion.

Past here earlier on in the year on a visit to Manchester and said we should try it. There were 6 of us eating. Booked table without any problems for the time we required. It was a very hot Saturday afternoon and most people were sat outside. We had a table inside and for the most part we were on our own. Service was ok...dri ks seem to take an age (4 cocktails & 2 pints of lager) one of our party found a bottle top in his drink....this was quickly dealt with and swapped out. Food wise I chose the gnocchi and have to say it was amazing!!! Some of the party hadburgers anc said it was "just ok nothing spectacular" the rest of the party had fish & chips and said it was nice. To be honest I think I got the best plate. Prices i thought were steep for an average meal and a 12.5%service charge added to your bill...so be aware of that! Not sure I'd go back...

We provided the DJ here for a wedding on the weekend. Really impressed by the venue as a whole - lovely staff, awesome food and a great party atmosphere. We'd highly recommend here if you're after a venue for your private function.

Delicious food and drink. Friendly, pleasant staff. It was a quiet one but I'd love to come back for cocktails sometime when it's buzzy. Kudos to the new assistant manager Mikey too!

Great pub and nice food. We came on Thursday night and at one point were only ones there (surprisingly) which was nice, though music was very loud. It gave gentlemen’s club type of vibes. Some good deals on cocktails. We had sirloin steak and it was tender and soft.

Went on our Works Christmas Meal here. There were 18 of us and we had a private room and it was really nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and efficient. Food was good too. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best roast dinners we've had in town and I think we've nearly had them all. Highly recommend!

Nice pub, visited early on a Friday evening, there was a DJ playing music which was ok. Pretty quite, for a Friday. Friendly and nice staff. Had a meal, went for the beef bourguignon, was ridiculously sweet, didn’t seem balanced, might have just been my taste buds. I was charged a £4 service charge, bearing in mind I just had a main and a beer, which seemed excessive as it was only me. Its not the best value for money. It’s ok, for the price I’d expect a little bit more I guess.

We had a lovely meal at The Fountain House! Highly recommend on a week day for a quiet meal as there is a bar upstairs that has music on during the weekends. We had the beef bourguignon and the lamb belly chops as mains which were both delicious as well as the potted beef and bone marrow starter (very yummy). Lovely selection of cocktails as well and service was excellent! Will be returning soon!

We went there on a Saturday afternoon after reading their Facebook page that they were doing 50% off à la carte menu excluding drinks. We even asked the staff if everything on the à la carte menu was 50% off and he said yes. We ordered Seared Scallops, Potted Beef & Bone Marrow, Crab Bisque Linguini, Crispy Lamb Belly Chops and Beef Dripping Chips. - The Seared Scallops were great. - Potted Beef & Bone Marrow was average: we weren't sure where the bone marrow was and the Yorkshire pudding was dripping oil. - Crab Bisque Linguini was below average: disappointed for the price you'd pay even if it's half price: it lacked presentation, flavours and texture. The linguini was overcooked. - Crispy Lamb Belly Chops were good but lacked sauce or glaze. Only the mains were 50% off which we had to contest and ask to speak to the manager. We didn't really speak to the manager, she quickly amended our bill without explanation. Days later, their Facebook says 50% off à la carte mains and their website says the same but only on Mondays to Fridays. Very confusing January promotions....

The food here was incredible - the smoked mackerel arancini was delicious - and our waiter was really friendly and attentive. Unfortunately we still had a poor experience because, when we had finished eating, we were told it would cost twice as much as we had been told at the beginning of the meal. Because we only wanted soft drinks with brunch we were told it would be half price (£17.50 each) but then, after we had finished, we were told this discount wouldn’t apply because we were walk-ins (no mention of this before we ordered). All in all we paid £70 for a tea, an orange juice, toast, arancini and 2 fry-ups, which felt like very poor value for money. This was a nasty surprise and really spoiled our experience.

Service - excellent and friendly Food - delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection! Very reasonably priced Atmosphere - great effort in preserving original furnishings. Real British Gastro Pub vibe! Definitely visit again - especially for the hot lunch sandwiches!

Went yesterday for the soft launch of the bottomless brunch / toast n' roast. Some little teething problems with less attention than I'd have expected in regards "bottomless" and other bits but overall a very good experience. Staff are so very nice (apologies for impatience in gaining access to the disabled access BTW) 😉. Food is amazing! Had the prawn and lobster cocktail, roast porchetta and chocolate mousse. Ambience is also very good. DJ had the best tunes going on. Definitely worth a try.

Lovely food and service, Chloe helped arrange my wedding meal with a week's notice as my other venue cancelled. The food was brilliant, the décor was lovely too. Couldn't have asked for a better day Thank you Chloe and team!

Sunday lunch. Ordered roast beef with horseradish cream and glass of Cotes du Rhone. When the beef arrived I sent it straight back without tasting it - I love rare roast beef but this was raw, like jelly. I don't know how anyone could send it out of the kitchen like that. When the plate reappeared, sadly it tasted of nothing. I couldn't taste any horseradish (!) , I couldn't tell whether I was eating potato or parsnip, the Yorkshire pudding batter was unseasoned, and what should have been a perfectly decent piece of beef had unfortunately died in vain, being devoid of any flavour. The only reason I ate it was that it was the only meal I could have all day as I had to go to work. After I complained again at the end of the meal, it was deducted from my bill without me asking, and I have to say that throughout all the staff were excellent and dealt with the issues as best they could. Unfortunately the problem is the chef, which is why the restaurant is empty on a Sunday lunchtime...

We have just returned from a wedding in Manchester Fountain House. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the venue. Every little thing was considered for my daughter's big day. These Guy's especially Nora went above and beyond in organising and ensuring everything went smoothly. The team on our day were superb and ensured Every little detail was covered. Excellent venue and absolutely fantastic staff.

I will admit we weren't the easiest customers as we had issues with the wine. However all the staff handled it amazingly and the food was superb. We were all extremely happy and had a great evening. They went above and beyond to make it special for my mother's birthday. Would definitely recommend, and would go again if we visit Manchester.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
