I absolutely love this place. I visited with my friend who I hadn't seen for a while. It's a similar set up to wagamama, where you're sitting on tables beside people you don't know, but I didn't mind this. The atmosphere is great, but the food is something else. What I really like is that most dishes can be made vegan, which is great because I will be able to come with my brother. I've found that since my brother turned vegan, we've struggled to find places that do more than just one token vegan option, so this place really hits the mark. Strongly recommend

Lovely food and helpful staff. Would recommend the vegan taster menu. My favourite dish off the taster menu was definitely the starter!

I didn’t like my main dish much because of the sauce (but my husband liked it). My husband had green curry and was a bit disappointed. However, sides in this places are amazing. Roti, udon noodles and especially rice with sesame oil and lime juice were absolutely delicious. They have milk in the kid menu, which was great. Their bottled cider was also good. The service was very friendly. The place overall is nice. The location is perfect.

A friend took me here for dinner. For starters we had the prawns with tamarind sauce and pork belly. The tamarind sauce and lime leaves were a good combination and gave the dish the exotic flavour. Pork belly was rich in flavour, loved the extra crispy bits in the sauce. For the main l had duck with pak choi and rice. The tamarind sauce worked well on the duck. I thoroughly enjoyed that though l think the rice needed more water/steaming as it was a tad undercooked. Overall, a lovely meal.

I loved having the option of choosing from a variety of East Asian and Southeast Asian dishes. The chicken Katsu curry was great. The mushroom gyoza was really good, too, but the portion size is appropriate for one person, not for sharing. Good service, fairly priced.

Great food and service. Lots of variety on the menu and not overpriced. Perhaps a little loud, as it wad full and there are lots of hard surfaces, but a good night.

Went on a Saturday night and was very happy with the service. Staff were lovely, food was great and it arrived within 20 minutes of ordering (possibly even less). The prawn crackers look a bit odd (they're like an orangy brown colour?) but taste as good as any you will get elsewhere. Pricing was reasonable and the drinks selection was probably better than most for this style of restaurant, stuck with the cider but there is a cocktail section.

We didn’t book on a Saturday but we tried our luck and they gave us a table so that was good! The staff are really friendly and attentive but the food wasn’t as good as I was imagined. A few vegetarian options which is an extra point!

Excellent noodles and curries. Had Gyoza and Coconut Prawns for starters, which were great. Crispy prawns and nicely soft Gyoza. Beef Rendang for a main was the right side of spicy and the beef just fell apart. Chicken Pad Thai is a classic and Prawn Green Curry was nicely mild. Really nice staff and quick service and the ambience was great at lunch even though it was quiet. Be aware you might have to share a table if it's busy.

We tried the chicken satay as a starter and pad thai + nasi goreng for the main dishes. The nasi goreng was really good, the chicken satay wad ok (we tried it in Singapore before and it was much better there), but the pad thai was really disappointing. Nice to try, but I wouldn’t come back here again.

It was ok for a chain restaurant. I thought the portion sizes were a lot smaller than the last time I visited. I had the jackfruit masaman curry which came in a small pot. My wife had the tamarind tofu which would have been better if the tofu was crispy. Overall nice but not what I would call value for money

Had the nicest sweet potato katsu curry here! The place was lovely and so accommodating when my friend and I were running behind! The vibe is so cute and warm! Hollie, El & Phoebe gave an excellent service and so friendly! Thank you so much :)

First time to this location, have had the food before, equally delicious - ordered the Sticky Wings and Balinese Pork Belly for starters. For our mains, we shared two dishes - Nasi Goreng Royal and the Beef Rendang. The spices were a kick of chillies. Our drinks were the Fresh leaves Hojicha, and Mango and lime mocktail. Great music and atmosphere. Love the coat hang feature available on the wall nearby!

Had a really lovely time there and will definitely return again! Although it was busy on a Friday night, we were well looked after by our server Amel and we didn't need to wait long to be served or for food to arrive. Highly recommend paying this place a visit, thank you!

I once tried Tampopo at the city center and it wasn't the best experience. HOWEVER, this branch at Albert Square have changed my thoughts about this place. Absolutely loved the experience, the food is so fresh, clean and on point. The service was quick and nice, they made sure we were okay with everything. The whole atmosphere was nice. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable, but everything else was perfect.

El was a wonderful server, very attentive, gave great suggestions, and was really lovely to chat with. Laksa was delicious and my partner enjoyed stir fried noodles.

a hidden gem!!! absolutely delicious food with impeccable service. genuinely may have been the best thai food i've had outside of thailand! i got the thai green curry with tofu - the menu stated at the bottom that as it had shrimp paste in it it wouldn't be vegetarian, but my server also checked that i was aware of it when i ordered, which i really appreciated. i also got the sweetcorn cakes and a kiwi and lychee cocktail, and mochi for dessert. all were absolutely delicious and portion sizes were great. tonnes of vegan and vegetarian options which are clearly marked. servers asked whether i had any allergies when ordering too. the servers were all extremely attentive and seemed to genuinely care on whether i liked the food. food came quickly and ingredients were all really fresh.

Perhaps one of the best ramen that I'd ever tried. I chose katsu udon soup and it was amazingly delicious! The place is pretty nice though it was quite crowded. Prices are reasonable for the centre. Ps: unfortunately they didn't have laksa soup

The temperature of the Ramen was not hot; the spicy salad with rump beef was very salty; both of the cocktail Singapore Sling and Piña Colada were quite sweet. We didn’t finish them.

Tasty tasty food and really fast service. They also seated us as a very large group very fast. Food arrived and was fresh within ten minutes. Everyone had different dishes and all looked very appealing.

Shared seating style. Attentive staff. Food was good. Had rendang which was tasty. Not Malaysian authentic style but nice adaptation with overall good quality meal.

Hands down one of the tastiest noodle soups I’ve had. Jampacked full of flavour and quality ingredients. A unique array of Asian specialties on the menu that you wont find anywhere else in Manchester. Brilliant service and a great restaurant.

Great food and friendly service. The jackfruit rendang was really good

I really like its menu, it has a great variety of choices, not just restricted to one particular Asian cuisine, you can order Thai, Japanese, Chinese whatever you fancy. That’s the reason it attracted to us trying Tampopo out. While the food and service is quite good, it’s actually not too bad at all, however this restaurant is really small and tables are all long benches, so everyone has to sit together, it could be quite crowded, I was actually sitting right next to a stranger without a seat apart, which is not very nice.

Great place to eat We found this place when were exploring Manchester after a Uni open day. The place was buzzing. Very lively with a great friendly atmosphere. Our waiter was JamesB. He was great, very chatty, very knowledgeable about the food, was happy to chat about Manchester too. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. We ordered a few starter dishes and shared them tapas style. Couldn't fault the service, the food or the restaurant. We will definitely return when we next visit Manchester. JAMES YOU WERE AWESOME 🙂

I like this restaurant! They prepare high quality meals, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that restaurant is an expert, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The dishes are always fresh, the attitude towards the visitors is helpful. I visit often this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend this place.

I ordered the Nasi Goreng and it was delicious! Used to get this in Bali when I visited and this tasted just as good. The restaurant is nicely laid out and the price of food is cheap! Chicken is also halal.

Nice environment and very attentive service. The meals were fresh and yummy. Will surely recommend this place to friends and family. Fair rates and big meals. Keep it up.

Efficient staff. Delious Asian grub and plenty of it. Fully licensed, clean & spacious. The shared long tables gives it a feeling of inclusiveness and community. Would definitely visit again. A different experience from the norm!

Very good restaurant lots of choice and excellent service. I had the the green curry which was excellent. Starter also good, had the coconut prawns, very tasty. Well recommended

Nice selection of food from east Asia asked for my ramen extra spicy and extra chillies and wow they delivered on the heat, had chicken gyoza for starter however they were lukewarm and had to be sent back no issues they were replaced for dessert I had mochi I’ve not had them before but would recommend them. Good selection of alcoholic drinks I had a couple of cocktails and a few beers.

The first time I came here the staff were really attentive and the food was delicious. Good big servings of authentic asian food for a good price. Cannot understate how good the ramen soup is!! The sweet potato katsu curry was also tasty

Got the vegetarian and meat platter to share for two. Was a 50/50 experience with some food items ok and others not very tasty. Also VERY small portions, we had to eat elsewhere later as we were still very hungry. The servers were friendly and attentive, but one of them kept hoisting up her very small crop top/bra so maybe some attention to the outfits as was not very professional to see when you're being served food.

  • 5/5 Rahul A. 1 year ago on Google
I usually get the nasi goreng which is really yummy but this time I got the chicken ramen and asked for it spicy and it was one of the best ramens I have ever had.The spice level of the broth was perfect and it had a lot of depth in flavour. It's definitely something to order to warm your belly up in the winter, the Mrs got the usual chicken katsu curry which is never disappointing.

Lovely little place for some incredibly tasty Asian street food. The quality was exceptional and value for money. The staff were attentive but not in your face. Will be coming back on our next visit to Manchester.

I absolutely loved tampopo! The vibes, the staff and the food. Everything is a 10/10. We ordered chicken satay & green curry. When i tell you the curry is spicy it’s actually super spicy. 🌶️ They’ve got a halal menu as well. ⭐️

Really good visit to Tampopo, my first since the menu has been updated. The crispy pork belly was delicious and beef rending was lovely and tender with vast array of accompaniments. Mike, our waiter, was very efficient and made a cracking raspberry cocktail.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
