Crystalbrook Albion has nailed it. Everything about this boutique hotel is exceptional. Those seeking accommodation in inner Sydney that excels in delivering a well-considered and refined experience need to look no further. Excellent rooms, service, location, and amenities make this establishment a default selection every time I head up from Melbourne.

My husband and I stayed at Crystalbrook Albion and had such a wonderful time. The hotel was quirky, clean, and beautiful. The staff were amazing and helpful. It was close to central station and the trams so it was easy to get around. We celebrated our 1st year wedding anniversary here and we love sitting in the rooftop every morning with our complimentary breakfast talking about what a wonderful year it has been. Thank you for making it extra special in upgrading us for free to the master room. Weā€™re definitely coming back!

I love the cozy atmosphere and feel of the hotel. You don't feel like you're in one of those big chains. The rooms are clean and I like that you can hear some noise while you are in your room. It feels more lived in and alive. The staff is extremely friendly. This is a very dog friendly hotel. They don't have a gym but they provide access to one close by. Great proximity to restaurants and cafes. I'd stay here again.

Lovely staff who are very helpful and friendly. Great position in Surry Hills with an abundance of great bars, cafes and restaurants. A few minutes walk to Central Station. Nice touches abound like gourmet biscuits in the room each day, an honour bar system where you can also get complimentary tea and coffee. In the morning there is a complimentary fruit bowl and delicious pastries. Late arvo there is a gin cart at reception where you can purchase a drink for $10 and take it up to the rooftop seating area which has nice views.

I canā€™t speak highly enough of the staff at Crystalbrook Albion, in addition to the beautiful feel and unique style of the hotel. The rooms are small, but so well laid out to maximise the space. I particularly love their commitment to the environment. Beautiful finishing touches are an extremely comfortable bed and gorgeous Robert Gordon mugs, cutlery and plates. A lovely stay!

Rooms are nice and large and gorgeously decorated. All the staff were lovely and super helpful. Location is great, easy to walk around but also close to Central. Just an all round welcoming and lovely hotel to stay in

An interesting hotel with friendly staff. They have a nightly gin tasting that was fun, and a very pleasant rooftop garden. Itā€™s let down a little by the small bedrooms and the lack of a comfy lobby and comfortable indoor breakfast area. While they do provide these spaces, they are not really that inviting despite the efforts of staff to make guests feel welcome

Exceeded expectations! Beautiful and oh so comfortable. Phenomenal staff: warm and welcoming. Breakfast of delicious pastries, fresh fruit and the espresso machine always available! Superb location: very walkable with many great cafes, and a 5 min walk to the central train station, 3 stops to the harbor. Just tap on and off with your credit card for bus, train, ferry. Sydney public transportation is easy, excellent and inexpensive. Staying At Crystalbrook Albion made our Sydney stay so special and not ā€œtouristyā€ 5 Stars plus!

We loved everything about our recent stay at Crystalbrook Albion. Our room was comfortable and very quiet (even though we were on street level) with a lovely large bathroom. We enjoyed breakfast on the sunny roof terrace and loved the convenient location. Looking forward to staying with you the next time we're in Sydney.

We had a really lovely weekend at Crystalbrook Albion. Service was great. The hotel felt very quiet and calm, very rarely running into other guests. The self-serve honor bar was great and convenient to use, and even nicer to enjoy the drinks on the rooftop. My only criticism is that the mattress was very firm, so had broken sleep the two nights.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and everything was excellent. Location in Surry Hills provided an opportunity to discover this fascinating area of Sydney. The boutique style of the hotel suited us perfectly. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Just a short walk to Central Station. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked a return visit in 2 weeks.

I booked the cosy room this time, Which was fine for us. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. The rooms are quirky and cute. The staff are also friendly and helpful. This was my second stay at The Albion. Iā€™d definitely book again. Can walk everywhere from here.

We loved our stay at the Little Albion. It did feel like we were ā€œcoming home.ā€ The room was clean, comfortable and we liked the history of the building. The little touches like the message card in our room, the complimentary breakfast and the service was mindful and friendly. We were close to the restaurants and walked most places. We will most certainly stay again. Thank you!

Great experience. Love the ability to grab a coffee, a drink, a snack without any pressure. Our dog was welcomed very well (besides one staff member who was over the top and didn't notice our dog was overwhelmed and they weren't helping ((he had long hair, skinny)) hence the 4 star not 5) We had one night that was very disruptive with some extremely noisy guests, reception did her best to calm them down. The rooms aren't very soundproof. Disappointing the door to the courtyard in our room wasn't working. (Again hence the 4 stars) Roof top was lovely. Decor was beautiful. Location great, although access to drop of and pick up cases very difficult. Overall we would come again.

We loved our stay - the rooms are clean, well appointed and modern. There is still an old world atmosphere with the heritage of the building preserved and matching artwork to tell the story. Al the staff were lovely and the added bonus of rooftop garden, gin cart and pastries for breakfast topped off our stay. Very close to Central Railway Station and Crown Street for eateries. Cant wait to return.

We just had a wonderful stay at the Crystalbook. Holly on reception started the whole experience off on a delightful note, and things just continued to improve from there. Everyone on reception was incredibly friendly, and the room was wonderful and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Crystalbrook Albion.

Exceptional little find in Surry Hills. Staff friendly and welcoming and efficient. The room was excellent, we had a bath which was awesome. Rooftop sitting area is a very lovely surprise. Light breakfast and complimentary coffee is excellent.

On arriving the styling and dƩcor is gorgeous, and the building was secure. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The rooftop garden and view and the complimentary breakfast were a nice touch. My room location was close to the main street and there was roadworks, so quite loud at times.

We really enjoyed our short stay , especially the extra touch of the staff showing us to our room and all the facilitiesā€¦ the beds were super comfy and it felt like we were tucked away in our own private hotel but still close to all amenities. Loved the rooftop garden and will definitely be back .

This is a very special place to stay in Surry Hills. The location is perfect for starters. The team led by Holly at the Crystalbrook Albion couldn't be more welcoming or helpful. It's like a home away from home. The rooms are very stylish and have everything you need. I absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend you book your next trip to Sydney staying here. It's a winner!!

Really great hotel. I think it has now supplanted the Ovolo as my favourite place to stay in Sydney šŸ˜€. The Albion had it all - friendly staff, self service bar, rooftop terrace and a great location in funky Surry Hills. Canā€™t wait to go back!

No sound proofing- from the lobby, from the apartment complex next door, from the traffic on nearby busy roads. Cute building but need extra glaze on all windows and different materials for insulation. Very pretty and clean but not worth the price.

My wife and I stayed for two nights and it was perfect. A great boutique place to stay and walking distance to all the restaurants in Surry Hills. Could not fault the accomodation in anyway. A big shout to the staff (Holly and Julian) for your very personal service and attention to detail. This place is a must stay if you are planning some time in Sydney.

We lived in the Crystalbrook Albion for around three weeks when we migrated to Australia. The team was so accommodating and friendly that we almost did not want to move out. They thought of every detail and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The room was very tidy and comfortable and had an excellent bathroom! We would not hesitate to visit this place again. Thanks for everything, it truly is a home away from home!

I loved my stay and recommend it. Friendly staff, great decor, walking distance to transport and many food options in Surry Hill. I also loved the ease of access to complimentary brekkie pastries, filtered water, T2 tea, coffee machine (though didnā€™t use it) and extra mugs/teapots/cutlery at the honour bar area. Iā€™m an introvert so loved the self serve aspect :)

I stayed with my partner and my two boys, Cookie and Biscuit - we all had a wonderful time! The Urban room is the dog friendly room; it's small but very clean and furnished beautifully. The pet cleaning fee is almost twice what you pay at other hotels, but overall worth it to bring the babies. The honour bar is such a great idea, and was well stocked. And we loved the cute breakfast spread up on the rooftop! Overall, would definitely recommend for a city stay. And for dog owners - this place is very dog friendly! The staff all seem to love dogs, which is a plus. P.S. parking is available down the road at the Rydges hotel - you can organise it with Crystalbrook, reasonably priced too.

Amazing little hotel in a great location, Holly on check in was very informative and bubbly making the experience all the better. Little pastries for breakfast were delicious and the decor is stunning. could not recommend this place more if you want to be in a central location with plenty of dining options surrounding.

Had a great stay here for my birthday last month! Fantastic location in Surry Hills, nice little inclusions like espresso coffee and morning pastries, luxurious rooms, and the rooftop terrace was a beautiful place to start off our mornings.

From the moment we checked in the hotel the staff were nothing but charming, friendly and helpful. From helping us with our bags to advising on local delicacies Emma,Holly,Shakthi and Sunil were all a fountain of knowledge. The room was great, the shower was brilliant and little touches like a dog biscuit and treat upon arrival were really nice. The cleaning staff were polite,it was super clean and the pantry area was well stocked with fresh pastries every day. The bar was well stacked and the gin happy hour was a great concept. The bed was super comfortable and itā€™s very quiet as well. The recycled room door keys and large shampoo and soap bottles were a good idea too. It is also a beautiful heritage building and the rooftop views are really good. The coffee machine works a treat too. This is what hotels and service should be about and we will have no hesitancy in staying there when next we are in Sydney. Hats off to you all. Lyall Zazryn

We absolutely loved our stay at Crystalbrook Albion and can't wait to stay again. Loved the interesting architecture, looking out over the old church roof and down on the stained glass window and the beautiful courtyard of the hotel, the breakfast pastries were fab and we made use of the rooftop space for a gin and tonic as well as morning coffee. We felt like we'd been on holidays in another country after wandering the interesting streets of Surry Hills. A really great place to stay and highly recommend. Service was wonderful also.

Lovely decor, great location and great service. The room was a bit on the small side for the price and we were glad we didn't have full size suitcases. A few things missing for us, a small blue tooth speaker, plenty of drinking water (only small carton in fridge), coffee making facility in room (like a pod machine) somewhere to lounge (there were two chairs but by the time you had your luggage in the room, you couldnt get to them) and somewhere to put toiletries, I ended up using the floor, having a bath was at the cost of a decent sized vanity. There service was great though.

From the moment of booking the ā€˜Masterā€™ room accommodation to celebrate my ā€œBirthday Eveā€, John and the team were so friendly and helpful as I had a few queries prior to checking in. When I got my ā€˜things to know checking inā€™ text the day before I arrived, every detail was laid out including a 24 hour parking deal down the road at Rydges, which I used. Everyone amongst the staff clearly knows what a special place this is and it shows. From the staff at reception to the smiling housekeeping staff, everyone just seemed so happy. It really was a delight to stay here! My room was gorgeous up on the 4th floor and everything felt so luxurious, from the marble and tiles in the bathroom to the brushed gold taps and rain shower to the large bath with Himalayan bath salts provided and skylight above. The glass-walled lift was great to ride in as well, as you surveyed the scene and imagined what that closed off door in the middle of the historic building next door was once used for! The Crystalbrookā€™s own bespoke amenities line in scent ā€˜Rosellaā€™ smelled amazing which they provide in environmentally responsible large bottles for use. The key fob to the room is made of recycled wood, another environmentally conscious touch. The sheets were crisp and fresh but not too overpowering of laundry scent and you have a choice of 4 different pillows. The bed was so comfortable, I couldā€™ve stayed for a few more days, no worries! The roof terrace is the jewel in the crown, it was raining when I visited (okay, pouring with rain!) but the next morning the sun shone for a brief while so I could enjoy the complimentary danish, fruit and coffee up there overlooking the rooftops and city as I welcomed in another fabulous birthday. Magic! I will definitely be back. Thanks again for an incredible stay!

Highly recommended. Offers the comfort of a big name hotel but the friendly and welcoming sense of a small boutique hotel. Staff are friendly and engaged which makes all the difference. A special mention for the rooftop area and the free light breakfast offerings.

Partner and I loved our stay at the Crystalbrook Albion. We stayed in the Master Bedroom which was small but beautiful. It was cozy and perfect for a 2 night stay. The 'honour system' bar and complimentary pastries was a great idea as well. The staff were friendly and accommodating, no issues whatsoever. I definitely recommend this place for couples and for short stays, as for some people maybe the small room would get old after a week or so. But for our 2 nighter it was brilliant. Perfect location only 600m from Central Station.

Do not stay here for work. Rooms are tiny. No gym. No water. No ironing board or iron and when you do managed to get these from reception there is not enough space in the room to use them. Well over priced, there are much better options that have more space and better facilities

Outstanding and my favourite place to stay when Iā€™m in Sydney. Service is outstanding and itā€™s a little piece of heaven in Surry Hills

We were completely delighted with our stay at Crystalbrook Albion. Having stayed at other Crystalbrook hotels previously, our expectations were high, and this gorgeous boutique hotel delivers in every way. The service is so welcoming and gracious and genuinely friendly, from our early arrival until our (regrettable) departure. The Crystalbrook impeccable attention to style and comfort abounds throughout. Every little detail feels like so much thought and love has gone into creating a beautiful place that is a pleasure to be immersed in. We absolutely will stay here again. Can't wait!! Thank you Crystalbrook ā¤ļø

There are many things to recommend Crystalbrook Albion, from the fantastic location in Surry Hills, the very comfortable and well equipped rooms, the relaxed atmosphere and cool rooftop terrace to the honour bar system and gin oā€™clock. However the best thing about it was the amazing reception from all the staff who really made the stay. Iā€™m just sorry I was only there for one night, I would loved to have stayed for longer.

I had such a lovely stay at Crystalbrook Albion. It's a hidden gem in the heart of Sydney. I was really impressed by the level of attention to detail on the small things to help minimise the hotel's environmental impact whilst keeping an air of luxury and sophistication through the entire hotel. I would happily stay here again when I'm in Sydney.

Boutique style hotel that had all the amenities you could want at a fair price. My husband and I visited Sydney from overseas and were warmly welcomed by reception immediately upon arrival. The check-in process felt like a small B&B experience - a staff member gave us a thorough tour of the hotel and its features. It is clear theyā€™ve put a lot of thought into the design and personality of the hotel. We loved the great smelling bath products, light dimmers in the bedroom, in-room iPad for guest services and the free pastries in the morning. As other reviewers stated, the hotel benefits from its quiet, neighborhood location because you can walk easily to many excellent restaurants. While they do not have a gym, the James Hilder Reserve is a short walk away and has outdoor bars and mats. We would love to return in the future!

  • 5/5 Laura C. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely beautiful! Such a wonderful stay and totally exceeded our expectations. Wonderfully helpful staff, gorgeous rooms and finishes, very comfy bed, quiet and clean. Way better than a standard big name hotel. The gin and tonic trolley was also a real treat!

We stayed here just before Covid and returned because we had liked it so much. Last time we rated it 5 stars. This time we rate it lower. It still has all the pluses we liked before (location in a vibrant neighborhood close to the city, friendly staff, nice building and atmosphere), But it significantly downgraded breakfast. No more cereals, orange juice or rolls with butter and jam. Just pastries and coffee. Disappointing and the cost savings per room for the operator must be minimal. This unnecessarily spoils an otherwise great experience.

We had an amazing stay at the very stylish Crystalbrook Little Albion. A small hotel but with generous rooms, and very well appointed. The staff are wonderful and friendly. We loved ā€œGin Oā€™clockā€ and taking our drinks up to the rooftop as the sun set over the Sydney skyline. Cute breakfast and coffee all day. Loved it. Canā€™t fault it. Will be back.
