Probably the best dinner and conversation with a local we had on our trip. We had the fried garlic as a starter (so good!), fried rice, fried noodles and coconut rotti with banana. Food is super fresh and delicious. Therefore takes a while to get prepared which was no problem at all because we had a very good conversation with the father of the cook. Was so interesting to hear his perspective on so many things. Really inspiring and also funny. Just an amazing experience.

We went there for Dinner on a Friday night. Loved the vibe of the place and the staff were super helpful. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a mixed fried rice. Both dishes were tasty and portions were enough. They welcome locals as well. We don’t mind going there again.

I first came here four years ago and the meal was unforgettable. This time we ordered the large fish and it was delicious! The whole family joins in to make everything from scratch. If you get the fish like us, place the order early because they go to the market to see what’s fresh. Another table got the curry and it smelled wonderful. The owner made everyone feel at home and talked with us in depth about Sri Lanka. I can’t wait to go back.

If you don’t come here for food you are missing out!!!! Lovely setting and the best freshly prepared home cooked meal I have had in Sri Lanka so far so you may need to wait a little longer for food. We watched them grind a coconut for our dish & pick the curry leaves from the tree, That’s how fresh the meals are! The photos do not do this food justice but I couldn’t wait to eat this delicious smelling food any longer! 😋 Honestly it’s amazing here!!!!!!

Having been in SK Town with a few friends for the past couple weeks and frequented all of its restaurants - Uprising is by far the best food and family run restaurant.

The food is amazing! The rice and curry is the best we had in Sri Lanka. They always make different types of currys so it never gets boring. I can also recommend the vegetable soup. The owners are super lovely and we always have a nice chat. In this restaurant you feel very connected to nature. Definitely come by if you are in SK Town!

This place is an experience. The cook Rasika is an amazing chef and most chilled out person. Ask him to make you some rice and curry, you won't be disappointed. The food is a rollercoaster of flavours.

Cute little hippie place with nice staff and good people just hanging out. It’s nothing fancy, but special in its own way. Coffee is also good!

Although we ended up here by accident, we were quickly welcomed and served two meals of quite decent food. The people working there were very pleasant and the whole place had a very relaxed and family friendly vibe.

After visiting with a friend in 2020 I was so happy to return to Uprising this year. Absolutely delicious & super fresh food, everything is made from scratch. The coconut roti with vegetables was so delicious! Really lovely family that run this place, definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

We thought of this place as a hidden gem. Tucked down a side street, at first we thought it was closed till we were greeted with twinkling lights in the darkness, and a warm welcome. The place is beautiful, woven coconut leaves above, smooth wood twist furniture, funky lights and splashes of colour - you just know when you are surrounded by someone’s passion and creativity. The food was just fabulous - everything we ordered was good, so much so that we ordered some more to takeaway! Uprising felt friendly kind warm - like home but with better food. Definitely worth a visit.

When I came to this area, I immediately noticed this place. It's got a very chill vibe, owned by a local rastaman (named Rastika) who really knows the taste of good food. Now it's ran by his daughter and her husband who is a lovely hard-working lady. They also make handmade beauties from coconut and other local materials, and offer handmade spices from their grandparents' village ❤️ Overall, the place has a special energy that I come back for every day while I'm here. As a cherry on top - it's just 50m away from the ocean, so when it's quite you can literally hear the waves 😇

I dont understand how this place has such good reviews? Rastafarian vibe perhaps? Obviously went here based on all these lovely words and ended up disappointment. And we did go there TWICE to give it a fair chance. Both times were same. To sum up: very less food, expensive and takes way too long. 1. It takes over an hour for the food to be prepared, not just because it is fresh (and it is) but because chef doesnt really hurry to cook. He does some work here and there and then you have to remind him you kinda ordered something (even though you are the only one sitting in there). 2. The portion size is funny, we ordered same dish twice and got not even a single whole portion from a normal restaurant! 3. F*ng expensive for this amount of food! Paid over 2000 rs for 150 grams of gravy! The second time we went was absolutely same, for the amount of money we paid you can totally have a dinner at Doctors house!

This was definitely one of the best places we've eaten in Sri Lanka. All home cooked right in front of you (not a microwave in sight!). Fresh, fresh, fresh. And lovely owners. We will be back. Maybe the music could be a little quieter tho!

Nice family, cute place Food is normal But the wait is too long The portions are small (not typical for Sri Lanka), the price is too high for this combination (In 3-4 times higher than on pics on previous reviews)

Best food in Sri Lanka so far. We’ve tried coconut roti with Dhall and tomato onion sambol - I cant even describe the taste, it was SO amazing! Then we came back for breakfast, had cheese omelet, banana honey pancake, tomato onion sandwich and coffee. Everything so so good! Can not recommend more 🙏🏻

We really enjoyed our meal here the other night! First I had the mixed fruit juice which was the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The prawn noodles were tasty and all of the different vegetarian curries were excellent!

(Translated by Google) We were there at lunchtime atmosphere is super very relaxed Restaurant looks very nice even if we had to laugh a little at the TSV Munich flag. The food was very tasty and in an amount that was just enough. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it but the Kottu had it. It took about 1 hour because they didn't have everything there and bought something first. But all in all a very nice restaurant (Original) Waren Mittags da atmosphere is super sehr entspannt Restaurant sieht sehr schön aus auch wenn wir über die TSV München Flagge etwas lachen mussten.

Tourist trap, prices are very high for what you get. People are friendly but kitchen is poor. Avoid the rice

(Translated by Google) They chose a place in the absence of a number of others and, seemingly, with a decent rating. Apart from a very long service (more than an hour, but for Sri Lanka it’s ok, we don’t find fault). They took an order for squid for 1200 and garlic soup. As a result, they brought fish for 1500 * 2, referring to the fact that squids are not fresh. As a result, the fish was generally not tasty and not dairy at all, as promised from the rainbow descriptions of the waiter. The feeling that several times frozen. A very dirty table and chairs were removed only when they paid attention to it. The check was reluctantly lowered, it was only possible to bargain 500 rubles for the fact that you actually had no desire. Not recommended.
