I recently visited Matara Rest House, and unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The staff were not friendly at all, and the service was subpar. It was clear that they didn't care about their customers, and this was reflected in their attitude towards me. Throughout my stay, I found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful. They didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome, and it seemed as though I was inconveniencing them by being there. Additionally, the service was very slow, and my requests were often ignored or forgotten altogether. Overall, I would not recommend Matara Rest House to anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming experience. The staff's lack of concern for their customers made for a disappointing and frustrating stay.

We had chicken fried rice, fresh watermelon juice and an EGB. Atmosphere is wonderful. Great place to have lunch. We waited around 20 minutes for our lunch. Staff is ok. Washrooms are not that clean. They didn't even have soap or handwash. Prices are cheaper compare to other places around Matara. Satisfied with the quality of food. One portion of chicken fried rice good enough for two people.

I'm doing only a review of the Lunch Rice and Curry Only as I have only visited here for lunch. 1) Lunch buffet spread is good 2) Food is good quality and tasty 3) Customer service is good 4) Ambience is good 5) Value for Money Recommend this place highly for Business Lunch for Executives. Visited today. Very unpleasant situation. Waited half an hour but no one came to take our lunch order. We asked few times how can we order and they said us to wait but no care at all. Customer care is 0. We left the place and ate somewhere else.

Foods are expensive than I thought but they are delicious. They charge a 10%, service fee but offer a good customer service.

Wow what a nice place for relax and tasteful foods..... and of course drinking...... privacy is no 1 there's...... keep going dr...

A prime location in Matara which is under utilized. Nice view. Food is good. Buffet is available. Take Away is available. Don't know much about rooms. Customer service can be improved further if they prioritize it. This place can be converted to a star class hotel.

When i called to make a reservation for lunch for 8 packs, 3 people took turns answering the call and finally said no! This is the worst place ever in matara where i got this kind of experience.

We went there for dinner, food was really great and the portions were quite reasonable. Prices are generous and unbelievable. They're spread was good. Lovely atmosphere. Greatly enjoyed.

Food was absolutely disgusting full of artificial flavors and sauces. The staff was not friendly at all. I had a chocolate milkshake too which was the worst milkshake I had ever had in my life.

Food was not good. We ordered sandwiches and 1 sea food spaghetti ,taste was really bad. not recommend.

We visited here sincw their food is supposed to be tasty. But what a horrible restaurent! Please don't go to this place. We had to find our own table. Had to ask twice to be shown a menu. When asking for a 2nd menu as we were a crowd of 5, completely ignored us. Another family came after us and were in the waiting area. Our apparent waiter ignored taking our order and started asking them for theirs while they weren't ready. ALL WHILE WE WERE READY TO ORDER and had been waiting for a while. I hate to pose this question but is it cos we were tamils? Never sighting this place again ! Horrible customer service.

One of oldest rest house in matara, love that place, it's located infront of the beautiful matara beach 🏖, they have bar if anyone who like enjoy their eve with the liquors. Also need to mention about there delicious foods to the reasonable prices👌, they are serving buffet also. Their services are fine. Recommended. 👌 💪

We went there for dinner with a group of friends and the service provided by the rest house staff was excellent 👍 Indeed food was fine too. Loved the cozy vibe of the rest house which was clearly mingled with a touch of historical elegance.

Great place to relax and get some food. The service was nice and the food was nice. The portion sizes were pretty good too. Definitely recommend going here if you’re looking for a place to rest a little after a long drive. They have nice chairs out at the front and on the side. Highly recommend! 🙌

Nice and clam place in front of matara beach. The person who served us was very kind and attentive. There is a lot of antiques which are from the Dutch rule I think. There was no fan for the tables outside the main dining hall and that's the only thing I disliked. Editing in 2022 after 3 years. Great place! Nice and calm atmosphere with a nice relaxing music in the background. Clean and tidy. This place has got great improvements since my last visit. Keep it up 👆

Nice place, location, much noisy and food get delayed, so had to leave the place after waiting long without any attention, but later on learned that they were supper nice they contacted the person who stayed overnight and forgot his laptop charger, and they were nice enough to call him back.
