In total it was a decent hotel, with very friendly personnel, a great host and most of the hotel looks nice. We have some minor downsides - the rooms open up directly into the breakfast area, people have breakfast and may peek into your room. Also the rooms are not amazing when judging on the interior. From my point of view a little bit too expensive, but still nice.

Excellent location for visiting the Sassi. Lovely room and service was very good with a warm welcome and a complementary coffee on arrival.

Communicated our needs to the front desk which helped us locate parking and said they would accommodate our dogs. Price quoted was €135 total for 1 night. €105 for the room, and €30 for the dogs. I agreed to this and walked to the parking garage to meet my wife and dogs. We walked back to the hotel on foot with dogs and luggage. Once back at the hotel we provided our passports and verified again that it was for 1 night stay. As we were being walked to our room with the front desk staff she informs us at that moment that it was actually €60 for the dogs, not the €30 that I was originally quoted. We left then and there after having wasted so much of our time. I realize that our experience was unique but because of it, I cannot recommend.

Service at front and staff in general were great. Location is perfect if you looking to explore the sasi and matera in general. The shower was terrible can definitely use an excessive amount of bleach and there was no hot water at night. In the morning there was hot water but there is no middle or hot burn water or frizzing water. Also the stream of the water was very weak. Lastly horrible WI Fi connection.

Interesting experience. Keep in mind that you have to go down stairs to get to the rooms, but it is worth the few calories spent because when you enter the room you feel the traditional energy of Matera. Cave. More of a modern cave room, worth staying in. A big minus was that there was no hot water due to a problem. As for the breakfast - it was nice.

I work in the hotel business for 30 years and I never had such a terrible experience. I didn’t knew the check in ends at 11PM. We arrived around 11:30 PM and the hotel is closed. After a few calls I talked with a lady that told me she would speak with the hotel manager in order to help us. After that I called back more than 10 times and she didn’t answer! What a disrespectful atitude with a guest that already paid for the night! This is not a 4 star property. This lady should not work in hospitality. I am now with no place to sleep. Very very very bad.

The location was perfect for our stay. The staff accommodating. The rooms were representative of the era. We enjoyed their characteristics. Our dedicated staff host for our exclusive area, "Ms Celeste" was superb. She provided us with excellent service throughout our stay from breakfast offerings to room servicing. Her attention to detail, hospitality in provision of service with a warm and inviting personality will ensure our return. The Ascenzo group.
