This place could have been straight out of Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares. Went here for a quick coffee and toastie, and saw a long line. This place was a logistic mess, with the staff frantically trying to catch up on orders. It was bizarre - there was absolutely no customer service. The staff made no eye contact or acknowledgement of any of the customers. The barista behind the counter looked incredibly stressed out and kept saying to the other staff that the coffee would take a while, but there was no communication to the long queue of customers. The cashier was a young child who clearly didn’t want to be there (and I’d guess was roped into this by the owners), and literally didn’t say a word while taking orders. We ended up leaving after waiting 30 minutes for our coffee, having paid but ultimately deciding to get a refund was more trouble than it was worth. To the owners, I would suggest: - don’t force the kid to work here when they clearly don’t want to be here. - designate someone to actually talk to the customers - reduce the number of menu items when understaffed to simplify operations There are plenty of great cafes nearby, we just got unlucky with this one. We ended up going to Bird the Word a block away, which served us coffee within a few minutes of ordering.

Not sure how the reviews here are so good. The staff seem to have no system of organization whatsoever to keep track of tables orders. drinks came out only after I went to ask about them. Hash browns are a Macca's style frozen hashbrown. Eggs Benedict was also basically an egg McMuffin with a poached egg instead.

We have walked past here a few times and it always seems a little quiet (especially next to the busy ‘fat dog’ next door). Don’t let the piece and quiet put you off - the food here is lovely, good value for money and the staff are very friendly. This place is great for a quiet spot to eat.

We stopped in for breakfast and are pleasantly surprised by this little cafe. Breakfast was great. Food was cooked perfectly and tastes great! The customer service is also phenomenal. This has been our favorite breakfast stop on our trip. Recommend the eggs Benedict and the eggs my way.

Delightful Cauliflower Tacos Bursting with Flavor, lovely staff and a wonderful hot chocolate! I just had the pleasure of trying some incredible cauliflower tacos, and they were just amazing! The cauliflower was perfectly roasted, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning to enhance its natural sweetness. Topped with fresh ingredients and a delicious creamy sauce, these tacos were simply amazing. Kudos to the chef for creating such a tasty and satisfying dish. If you're looking for a flavor-packed option, give these cauliflower tacos a try—you won't be disappointed! And the hot chocolate was just a cherry on top. Highly recommend! Ps. I had forgotten to take the photos before eating, you get 3 tacos which are just the right amount.

Sooooooo yummy! Love this café. And we actually asked for Mac and Cheese (kids' meal) to be adult sized. The chef did it and it was amazing! Best Mac and Cheese ever. The oreo thickshake was so creamy! Lovely staff too. Always feel welcome. Good quality napkins too (which is a must!). 10 out 5 stars!

Great service and amazing food!! We ordered the French toast, eggs your way (scrambled) with added rosti and soup of the day which was pumpkin soup. All the food was amazing and definitely recommend adding the rosti on the side!

My family and I recently visited Rotorua for a quick business meeting and some quality family time. We chose to stay at the Pullman Hotel, which turned out to be the perfect choice for those looking to try out Citron Cafe. We decided to visit on a Sunday morning at 9:30 am. I ordered the famous Eggs Benedict with salmon, and I must say, the overall experience exceeded my expectations. The pricing was reasonable, the taste was exceptional, the presentation was on point, and the portion size was just right. And let’s not forget about their delicious coffee – it was the perfect complement to the meal. If you’re ever in Rotorua and looking for a great dining experience, I highly recommend giving Citron Cafe a try. It’s a fantastic culinary gem in the area that won’t disappoint.

Came in for brunch. Warm and thoughtful service 🙂 Coffee is top notch and the food has got to have been some of the best we’ve had. Generous portion sizes, tasty and generally delicious. Hidden gem of Rotorua, we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Waited for ever for our coffee. One poor guy was supposed to run this whole place by him self. He did his very best, but it’s just impossible to keep up. They should improve their organizational skills!

This lovely cafe is run by a delightful gentleman who is always polite and smiling. We went in several times during our three night stay in the Pullman a few doors down and can’t understand why there were so few people in there. The coffee is great, Eggs Benedict exactly right and the crispy dumplings just right for a snack. We loved the classical music played at just the right volume. Such a nice change from the clatter and noise of many cafes and restaurants these days. Please give it a try and support the owner to make a success of his business.
