I
traveled
to
Adams
Peak
Sri
Lanka
as
a
solo
American
female
with
very
little
information
about
Sri
Lanka.
I
definitely
feel
that
my
decision
to
stay
at
Water
Side
was
guided
by
the
Cosmos
because
Ruwan
(
the
owner)
made
my
stay
in
Sri
Lanka
easy
and
safe
for
me.
He
picked
me
up
from
the
airport
and
drove
us
the
5hours
back
to
his
hotel
and
allowed
me
the
quiet
space
to
observe
the
landscape
in
between
dozing
from
my
journey.
We
spoke
some
that
first
day
but
not
too
much
which
was
perfect.
Upon
arrival
I
met
his
lovely
wife
who
greeted
me
with
the
best
cup
of
tea
in
all
of
Sri
Lanka.
That
was
just
the
beginning
of
my
experience
of
her
kitchen
skills!
Seriously
the
best
food
I
had
during
my
entire
visit
was
what
she
created
at
Water
side!
I
needed
internet
access
and
Ruwan
provided
an
amplifier
for
me.
He
was
available
to
me
during
my
entire
stay
and
took
me
literally
everywhere
I
needed
or
wanted
to
go.
I
respect
his
approach
to
Hospitality
a
great
deal.
I
had
planned
to
return
to
Columbia
for
a
two
day
stay
and
take
a
whale
watching
tour
to
Marissa
Beach.
He
made
a
suggestion
to
go
to
Marissa
for
one
night
then
to
Columbo
He
did
this
without
making
me
feel
pressured
or
speaking
negatively
about
any
part
of
Sri
Lanka.
He
knows
people
everywhere
and
we
had
developed
somewhat
of
a
friendship
over
the
week
so
he
knew
what
I
had
interests
in
experiencing.
He
offered
to
be
my
driver
throughout
the
two
day
journey
and
see
me
through
all
the
way
to
the
end
by
taking
me
to
the
airport
to
leave.
I
had
checked
into
your
guides
before
coming
and
Ruwan
's
rates
actually
beats
the
tour
guides
so
you
can't
go
wrong
with
him
being
your
tour
guide
as
well
as
your
location
to
stay
when
visiting
Adams
Peak,
plus
the
food
experience
from
his
wife
is
unmatchable
and
I'm
a
foodie!
He
called
a
friend
and
got
me
in
to
do
the
elephant
safari
and
it
was
a,
beautiful
experience!
He
also
called
someone
he
knew
and
made
arrangements
for
my
whale
watching
experience
in
Marissa,
which
I'm
so
glad
I
took
his
suggestion!
The
boat
ride
from
Columbo
would
have
been
6
hours
and
thats
alot
of
time
with
sea
sick
people,
lol.
Instead
it
was
a
gorgeous
3hour
trip
on
the
Indian
Ocean
followed
by
an
unforgettable
drive
up
the
coast
to
get
to
Columbo.
Ruwan
took
me
to
a
Dutch
community
and
explained
the
history,
he
has
alot
of
knowledge
to
share!
There
are
turtle
hatcheries
along
that
road
but
he
knew
THE
ONE
to
stop
at
and
I
literally
had
a
life
changing
experience
there.
I
felt
a
deep
connection
with
the
turtles
as
I
got
to
hold
the
babies
and
look
into
the
eyes
of
the
rescues.
Ruwan
waited
for
me
without
complaining
or
charging
me
extra
for
his
time.
He
was
kind
and
helpful
throughout
the
entire
journey,
to
the
point
of
having
the
hotel
staff
ring
my
room
at
530am
after
I
didn't
come
down
to
the
lobby
at
445
am
as
we
agreed!
Thank
goodness
he
did
because
I
had
a
plane
to
catch!
He
wasn't
irritated
with
me
(
although
I
would
have
understood
had
he
of
been)
instead
we
just
through
my
luggage
in
the
car
and
laughed
about
it!
The
rooms
at
Water
side
speak
for
themselves,
stunning
views
with
beautifully
eclectic
furnishings
and
ample
privacy.
They
are
very
clean
and
comfortable
as
well
as
spacious
and
everything
you
could
want
or
need
whether
you're
traveling
alone,
with
a
partner
or
even
children.
But
the
owner
Ruwan
and
his
lovely
wife
were
unexpected
gems
to
find.
I
definitely
recommend
you
stay
here
and
coordinate
all
your
adventures
with
Ruwan!
He
is
a
good
man
and
I'm
honored
to
be
able
to
leave
Sri
Lanka
calling
him
a
friend!
