This is the most amazing type of zoo I’ve been to. The fact that animals are not in cages, some are of course, like lion and puma and leopard and monkeys, but all type of birds are just flying free, and choosing to stay there… Unbelievable! It is so big, with so many animals, we enjoyed our time here.

The zoo was very clean and well organized. They have bear claw prints on the ground that lead you around the zoo. There is a wide variety of animals and they all looked healthy and well fed. The butterfly exhibit was a large enclosure that you entered and there were different species of butterflies everywhere. The cost was $14,000 Pesos ($5 U.S.). What a deal. Further more they want to concentrate on rehabilitation of trafficked animals that have been rescued. There are many interesting exhibits, and with ecology at the forefront of the business plan, I applaud this business.

Some other zoos always are like "under construction" "lion is eating" "zebra died" but this zoo had on display all the species they offered. The animals seemed to be in good condition. The green areas were super well treated and clean. We met a kid named Jacobo, he served as a kind of mini guide and he knew everything about every corner of the Santa Fe Zoo. It was a beautiful experience but I'm always sad to see wild animals enclosed. I promise to myself that I'm never going to visit a Zoo Park but I didn't kept it .

I can't believe how close you can get to the animals you also have peacocks wandering around freely. The whole place is a bit outdated but definitely recommend a visit. You also have a butterfly House and a bird house which you can walk in and have them around you.

The park is not big but if you follow the route (there are signs on the floor), you can see many exotic birds and animals and it took us 2 hours to finish the route. There are small eateries on the way but the price is way higher than usual, as all the touristic locations. There are few options for food outside the park so get prepared.

Nice zoo, it would be better if they had some elephants and giraffes! Plan on about 3-4 hours to walk and see everything. Also there is a restaurant with basics.

The initiative to protect rescued animals is remarkable, even though the main issue here is clearly the unstoppable disregard of humankind of their natural habitats. I expected a sad display from some reviews I had read but was pleasantly surprised. I think they upped their standards. A well kept zoo, with lots of trees and plants providing shade. Not too many animals, some rescued and given a safe home, as they could not be released anymore in their natural habitat (for instance the aras). Good, educational information panels. Also an informative exhibition about the Andes condor, and its conservation status.
