Twice I’ve been to the rooftop bar and I can definitely guarantee you good views, friendly staff, and really good cocktails! Okay, I only got one kind because I got hooked 😂 the jalapeño margarita is a special for a reason! Highly recommended. Good selection of beers as well, not just the locally mass produced beers.

Great hostel. Rooms are clean and nice. Only negative is that if you’re on floor 7 you’re directly beneath the bar which makes them almost impossible to sleep in. If you check in and they give you a room on floor 7 immediately request a different one. Breakfast is average and there’s better choices minutes away.

There was one barman who just had to create and enforce as many rules as possible. Twice told off for eating strawberries, and then the next day for having beers on my person. He put the beers in a fridge and then disappeared so we couldn't access them. I watched him also tell people off for chilling with feet on chairs, but in the most patronising fashion. The place is nice, but stuff like that reminds you it's not a hostel, it's a hotel with stupid rules for rules sake. The place is too nice that it feels somewhat isolating - people don't talk to each other, and it's too commercialised. Not for me

All in all we enjoyed our time here. He are not the people who need luxury rooms since we are outside exploring stuff anyways but the room was a little bit too small for us and it was also quite loud during the night. Rest was very nice. Good location, friendly and helpful people, nice rooftop with pool.

I went there to visit some friends only, so my review is about the venue and the bar: The concept built in this hostel is amazing. I tried to book a private room but they didn't have one available. The rooftop bar is very organised and the view from there is awesome. They also have a swimming pool for guests. I would definitely stay there in the future. One of the waitresses wasn't very friendly when I ordered some drinks.

Hostel experience to the next level! What an amazing place to stay if you are into hostels. The place looks amazing. The rooms are super nice and clean and each bunk bed has its own electric power, a small fan, and a blackout shade. In addition, they have an amazing rooftop bar and pool. It is located in one of the best neighborhoods for tourism. You will also have your own huge locker.

I didn’t stay here but I met some friends at the rooftop bar and the views were spectacular! The music was good and the drinks were a great price. Great place to start or end your night.

I didn’t lodge there but I went there for drinks and the view. It was beautiful and I enjoyed connecting with other travelers. They were hosting karaoke night so I performed a song and had a blast. I would definitely go back to stay and work remote as a digital nomad.

One star because it’s clean and has hot water. Otherwise it’s loud, the kitchen has two spoons, no knifes for cooking and three forks. If you want to drink something you have to buy it at the bar - can’t bring your own drinks. It’s noisy. For one of the two nights we stayed, they closed the only common area and kitchen due to a privat event… There are far better places for half the price… such a joke 😂

This hostel is amazing! The rooftop with the amazing view of Medellín, the spacious rooms and the chilled and social vibe made my stay here perfect. The location is also great and you will find a great spa and language school just next door. But the best thing is for sure the staff! They made me feel welcomed from the first moment on, no matter if the people at the reception, at the bar or in the cafe, everyone is super friendly and will make sure that you have a great stay in the city of eternal spring ♥️ And very special thanks to Manu and Luis, you are just amazing!

Is an amazing place! It’s nice, peaceful and friendly. The place is so comfortable. The customer attention is so nice and respectful. Especially Laura Cruz! ❤️ she wins my heart for her incredible attention with the customers. I leave this place very happy 😌

The rooms and rooftop are nice, but this review is for the restaurant. I waited for 30 minutes just to order after asking the waiter to order twice. I had to clean my own table. After waiting for an hour for my food, I asked them what’s the status and they said the kitchen is closed, meaning they forgot my order. Everyone who came after me got their food before me. They eventually brought out the chicken wings I ordered, and they were raw! Absolutely avoid eating here at all costs.

Great hostel with many places to relax, have a drink or chill. Live DJ in lobby or on roof almost every evening. Good coffee, drinks and food for decent prices. Great Cafe next block for breakfast/ brunch called Urbania- must try. Room layout (even for 8!) is great, with small private cubicles for beds. Felt safe most of the time. Would not recommend going in hot tub, as it is secluded all the way upstairs and seems to be an area for people to get into trouble.

One of the best places I've been to. The hotel is huge. Lots of sleeping options like dorms and private rooms. The hotel have a few restaurants too which is totally apgrade your stay. The hotel is in great location near the center. The hotel have a large rooftop with swimming pool and jacuzzi. I really like it.

Masaya Medellin absolutely exceeded my expectations. The location was great, cracking restaurants, cafes & nightlife close by, the rooftop is absolutely spectacular but perhaps most noteworthy were the incredibly hospitable staff. Perfect mix of helpful, friendly and super fun! Ronal & Laura at the rooftop bar were absolute stars!

Stayed there for 2 nights in a 4 bed dorm. First of it’s insane hot in the room. There’s no AC. They have small fans in your bunk, but they make more noise than an aircraft taking off. The whole place has a cool and industrial look and feel, but there’s no soul. It’s a sleeping factory for tourists which functions on auto pilot. The facilities are clean, so that’s definitely a plus, but for the same price you can find better places in Medellin (which we did).

  • 3/5 QUETZELQUOT 11 months ago on Google
For the price and hype it’s kinda mid. They have a nice coworking space, but that means nothing when their special coworking wifi is 5-15Mbps. They have a nice rooftop bar, but close the pool at 9p and stop letting people up at 11:30p. Same thing with their restaurant, they shut down at 10p. A lot of the bathrooms and showers have those weird latches that are unusable to people with long nails (and half just won’t latch outright). If they fixed those things it’d be pretty good.

This place is really great. Awoseme dorms. Everything looks new and clean. Great facilities and friendly staff. 100% would recommend

Wonderful place to feel secure and mingle with other tourist visiting Medellin. The location is perfect, the guys and girls at the reception are amazing human beings as they helped me with everything I needed. The cleaning staff is also very attentive to any request and my room was perfectly clean. I stayed in a shared room and in a single room, both were above my expectation. Not to mention the terrace that has amazing view, pool and hot Jacuzzi!

  • 5/5 Jackie J. 4 months ago on Google
Love the free activities they have for guests. The shower/bathroom is amazing (hot water and good pressure). The main negative is the bed is quite hard/uncomfy. Obviously rooftop pool/bar is a major plus.

  • 3/5 Andy L. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing view in the rooftop but service sucks. The bar was dirty, you have to get up scan the menu, they tried to charge us more per shot and we had to ask to change the bill. Only had one drink and left. We are expats and it’s a shame that business owners in Medellin don’t have management to provide guests good experience. For the prices they are charging, the service and experience needs to be better.

Nice place to stay since it’s close to everything But, they need to clean the sheet and the bed more And most of the reception staffs are nice, but one girl with glasses and blond hair is so rude! She doesn’t try to pronounce customers name correct, when I nicely told her my name, she was just like whatever And when I said can I check the bill before I pay? She was “shhhh” and I asked her what was that sound? What was that manner? She JUST stoped being rude. I think that girl should learn how to be a polite person

Superb hostel! Very social, well located hostel in Medellín. Everything you would expect when staying Masaya: clean rooms, beautiful rooftop area, great atmosphere, etc. Service is a little impersonal, but it would be hard changing that given the size of the hostel.

  • 4/5 Benjamin P. 8 months ago on Google
Cute rooms although small. As other reviews mentioned, if there is live music happening on the ground floor or the roof it is very loud so bring ear plugs.

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Nicest rooms and lots of activities. Great pool upstairs. Restaurant is really nice. Staff is super sweet. Lots of areas to chill and relax.

Did not expect such an amazing time at a hostel! The rooftop has stunning views. There was a free salsa class going on when we went. There’s multiple levels with bars. The first floor has a restaurant. Very clean, spacious. They seem to have daily events going on like language exchange, free dance classes, yoga etc.

Stayed here a few nights along with other hostels, and this hostel had amazing customer service and friendly staff. The front desk staff always available and attentive for requests. Rooftop is active, and bartenders Ronald & Laura treated us like family. Will definitely come back!

We went to the rooftop pool and bar which is amazing. The drinks and the food were good and there are amazing views. But the service is really bad. I forgot my bathing suit and went back to ask about it. Nobody seemed to feel responsible about it and I got sent down to the reception then back up to the bar. When I insisted they at least look for it they were annoyed and half hardedly looked in a closet and just told me no. Really dissapointed by this.

wow! The rooftop is the best in Medellin. Great vibe, good music and good place to start off the night! Wish i could have stayed here for a few nights but they were fully booked. Plan ahead. The views from the rooftop are the best in the city

In Few hostels I've felt like home. The experience was amazing, the coffee, dorms and the pool on the rooftop were beyond what I was expecting. On top of that, the service, especially from Alejandra the receptionist, was simply amazing. Everything was simply fantastic.

This was such a cool place to stay! From the 2 bars, the multiple restaurants, the rooftop pool, and the city views, this place had it all. It also has clean rooms, friendly staff and is located around a lot of fun places to visit and relax. I would definitely stay here again if I'm able!

Accomodations are very nice. Could have done without disc jockey who just seemed to annoy crowd as everyone was trying to have conversations or work on computers.

Absolutely amazing hotel. Super nice, well located, all the food options on site or nearby. Hot showers, warm pool, great nightlife. Amazing coffee and drinks.... just an awesome hotel/hostal! Only drawback is the noise at all hours of the night. But have learned that's just how city life is in these parts. Can't fault the hotel. Just come prepared with ear plugs. Dorms are nice, and private rooms are great! (Stayed in both)

  • 2/5 Daniel V. 2 years ago on Google
My locker has no key so it was always open. Pool is nice but the glass walls are so dirty. Breakfast was a bit rotten and not with the real colombian food test.

Hostel price with hotel perks! The best stay in Santa Marta.

This is a nice hotel with dorm rooms. I stayed in the private and the room was excellent with high ceilings. My favourite part was the excellent food options right within the hotel (amazing burger joint, and amazing cafe/restaurant in the back). Salsa and bachata lessons on Wednesdays were also super fun. Wouldn't really recommend for someone travelling solo, I think it's better for groups and couples.

Great location in the middle of the action. Always have activities at the restaurant downstairs and the poolside bar. Air conditioning is not necessary but would be nice to close the windows and shut out the noise. Nice rooms but water is not hot and beds are hard.

Truly an excellent Hostel. Clean, hip, updated, comfortable. The hostel had comfortable beds, nice rooms and great amenities. The roof top bar was one of our favorite spots in the city and Manu was a wonderful host. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone and plan to return on my next visit to Medellin.

Stayed at Masaya Medellin for 6 nights, overall the dorm experience is great, comfortable beds, spacious, good storage, bathroom etc. The soundproofing is very poor, hence the noise travels. Also the dorm rooms can get suffocating with poor ventilation. Would be a good idea to have small fans for each bunk bed. The common area restaurants are great, good coffee shop and burger bar

visited the rooftop bar. it is amazing nonguests are welcome. there are really 3 levels to the outdoor terrace one on the pool level with seating another level up offers seating and better views and a large hammock, the final level is small but offers great views and there is jacuzzi up there. cocktails were delicious. this is the best rooftop to visit in medellin

  • 3/5 Richard S. 1 year ago on Google
Really great location with nice rooms! Has all the facilities you could need. However it is expensive for Colombia. It has much more of a hotel feel than a hostel. It's not great for meeting other travellers compared to most hostels. Rooftop and restaurants are open to the public so there is a mix of people.

Hola! We stayed at Masaya Medellin for one week and it was a splendid. The rooms and the facilities made the hostel look like a hotel, and felt one of a kind. What stood out the most and deserves credit about Masaya Medellin are the staff. A hostel can be cool, but there are the staff the makes the place feel great and welcoming. They made us feel like being home and helped us a lot. We came in some difficult situations during our stay, but they always gave us the necessary help. They even did the extra to make us feel comfortable and were looking two steps ahead at any time of the day. That was really important for us as we were in a different country and didn’t know everything. We want to especially thank: - Laura V: for always being in a good mood, giving us awesome restaurant and club tips, and as well as learning us salsa. - Gustavo: for helping us when we needed the most, at any time of the day and for always being in a cheerful mood. - Mr. Valencia (the security): for giving us guidance and helping us with different questions. - We also want to draw attention to Alvaro, Laura and Laura. We will highly recommend Masaya Medellin. It is probably the best hostel we’ve stayed at so far during our backpacking in South America. Gracias!

Really recommend Masaya. Good location, very stylish, the dorm was HUGE and very nice. I slept in a 8 persons dorm. The bed was the most comfortable bed I slept in during my trip. It's very big and you have your own fan, light and cabinet. Also, you have a big locker where you can put in your whole backpack, the room is very big and light and there is a shower, sink and toilet inside the room. The people who work there are so so nice: especially Alvaro & Gustavo are very willing to help you with anything. Would definitely come back here!!

An awesome and very unique hotel. Two restaurants on the first floor and a bar, shared kitchen, pool, and jacuzzi on the top floor. Lady at check in took pictures of our passports with her phone, with seemed a little odd, but besides that the stay was great. Location is right smack in the middle of the best part of the city.

  • 5/5 Aboubaker S. 1 year ago on Google
I am very happy with my stay at the Masaya Hotel. I love the service and the price. One of the things that caught my eyes was the excellent customer service I’ve gotten from Laura V. from the second I stepped in the door she’s been very helpful and very enthusiastic about her job. Excellent customer support from Laura. If I ever come back to Medellin I hope to come back to Masaya Hotel. Thank you for the great customer service and the great stay .

A bit more expensive but for good reason. Quality all around, basically a hostel resort. Great volume of people, but the atmosphere is much more fragmented. Some people are mostly co-working, others are lounging in the café or at the pool. The sheer size of this place is impressive, so I can understand how some atmosphere is weakened. I treated it like a weekend getaway from some of the other cheaper hostels in Medellin. Don't get caught staying here too long, have a plan out or you might be a while.

  • 5/5 Brian K. 1 year ago on Google
We arrived late at night and yet we were still greeted with amazing smiles from the staff! The rooms were beautiful, comfortable and quiet. The entire staff were amazing and helpful. This isn't just a hostel, this is an amazing energetic getaway experience. The best part, in my opinion, was the beautiful room top party room/lounge and pool with gorgeous views! Will 100% be come back! Thank you to everyone working at Masaya Medellin!!

  • 5/5 Lian B. 1 year ago on Google
Simply the best hostel I ever stayed in. I can’t even call it a hostel because it feels like a hotel. Staff is super nice and helpful. Comfiest dorms I’ve ever been to because you get like your own cubical which feels very private The place itself is amazing, very clean. You have a pool and a Jacuzzi on the rooftop. And everything at such a fair price

  • 5/5 Sebastian T. 1 year ago on Google
Rooftop is pretty amazing. Has a few levels to it and a pool that you can enjoy as well w/ nice views to most of the city. The cocktails are also very good and fresh. Went on a Wednesday night and to my suspense they had 2 for 1 mojitos as well as free salsa lessons so made it fun among all the tourist that were present.
