As of lately one of my friends whom works at the David Jones Level 3 is afraid to speak up after some racist actions were displayed by one of the managers there. One or few of the reviews I have seen, have also brought up this underlying issue. The floor manager who I believe is Lauren or Lorraine? has been racist to many of the workers at this store level. I am very disappointed to hear as this is some where I would usually shop at, and I hate to make purchases from a company who do not respect their own employees as well as customers. A lot of people who work in retail at the moment are casual young workers and to treat them this way does not display a great example as they are future leaders. I usually do not like to place bad reviews as I know this a KPI that is very vital to businesses nowadays, however racism is something I cannot tolerate. I have never experienced this my self but to see employees miserable like my friend is disheartening, this is clearly a toxic environment. If the company cares at all about customers and employees rather than just making money, I suggest asking questions or speaking to this manager. However if this is something the company supports then I am no longer a customer. I am very disappointed that nothing has been resolved from this as there’s been reviews and complaints before.

David Jones even after the latest extensive renovations looks very ordinary and does not offer great shopping experience. I recently visited Yves Delorme on level 4 to buy some bedlinen and the sales assistant, female of Indian origin was extremely unfriendly and arrogant. Hearing her talking bad about me calling me names over the phone to her colleagues is something I had to report to the management. They advised me they can't do much because she is employed by their contractor. I got a verbal apologies over the phone from the manager. However, I have not come across someone so unhelpful in recent years at any store, let alone David Jones. She really showed how one should not treat the customers. It left a bitter taste in my mouth and I would not shop in this department again.

TL;DR: it's a nice, large-in-Australia department store. Don't expect online prices because, well, it's a nice department store. So. How does one review a department store, when the departments vary in quality? Let's try. On one hand, whenever I enter a department store nowadays, a part of me thinks "why do these things exist anymore?". Then I use them and remember. The stylist service and that department is brilliant. With unhurried professional guidance I got multiple good looks that I could have spent five weeks hunting for by myself otherwise. Plenty of stuff was on sale so the prices were reasonable. Other departments don't quite reach that brilliance. The service I got on perfumes was chirpy but completely clueless about the products and generally unhelpful while very hard trying to he helpful. The price match promise of David Jones is also not a genuine one - it's basically only a price match to Myers. Anything else is cleverly excluded in the T&C's, and for some stuff that sometimes incredible premium is just not justified by the service. It's as close to a one-stop shop as you can get in the city, but that doesn't mean it works for everyone or is always a good experience. Use judiciously and in moderation.

I love David Jones and always interested to see what changes they make to store layout and offerings. But note maybe it's an old fashioned thing but I've always felt you need to look your best when entering!

My wife had an appointment today at the Rose Clinic for Breast mammogram at 11.50am. As we are walking inside the clinic there was a lady screaming and yelling at me and my wife pointing the finger to me to go out as if she was telling her dog to go out without asking why we're there? I was very appalled of the treatment that lady did to me today. She needs to be trained on how to treat people or clients of their clinic. David Jones should kick them out there. My wife had a Parkinson's disease and I always make sure she's okay on every appointment.

A beautiful large store with immaculate staff and surroundings. The was an unusual display of fish in the window and flower displays throughout the store. Well done!

Wow. I walked through three entire floors on a Tuesday afternoon and saw countless staff. Not one staff member greeted me, let alone acknowledged me. Every one was either looking down at their smart phone, chatting to each other, or walking past me and actively avoiding eye contact. This did not make for a welcoming, customer oriented service experience.

This is probably one of the most iconic department stores in Melbourne for decades!!!! David Jones is the world's oldest department store that is still trading under its original names...this Bourke St store is so iconic and so exciting !!! This is definitely one of my favourite places to come to when I am in Melbourne CBD!!!!

She is disgusting!!!!!!!! It’s not the closing time ( 3-4 mins away. But she did not let ppl go in!) I just go in and collect my online order, which can be done in less than 5 mins. if she wanted to go home, pls don’t come to work. If you are working pls stay till the last minute. no wonder I prefer next door Myer .

Please re-train your customer service staff as this is the third time I have received the most horrible customer service. The first time was the Asian woman at the La Mer counter who was so rude, I left without buying what I came to purchase. The second time was around Christmas where I wanted to purchase a Marc Jacobs gift pack. Customer service woman told me to go to concierge to pay instead of at the counter. I took it to the concierge and the price was higher than what it was online. The concierge told me to go back to the counter to sort it out. I showed the online price to a tall guy at the counter, he would not honour the price until I add it to cart and put in all my details as if I was to purchase it online making me waste my time whilst a line was building up behind me. I was very frustrated and advised I will not purchase if he was not going to honour the online price. He finally agreed. And earlier this week, the older short blonde hair woman at the Clarks kids shoe section. She disappeared into the store room over 20 minutes when we got there. When she came out I asked if she could do a measure for my daughter's school shoes. She told me she can't fit my daughter's shoes because of covid. She gave us the shoes for me to fit for my daughter myself. I asked for different size but did not get it and I looked on the shelves myself, she then told me she already gave me that size and argued with me even though it was for a different style. I would not bother visiting David Jones again Bourke St any time soon.

An iconic Department Store ideallt located in the heart of Melburnes CBD. Offering a broad variety of Brand Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Kitchen appliances, Perfumes, Make up accessories, Brand watches, Sound equipment, Smart phones and much more. The ambiance is welcoming and staff offer prompt and helpful service. Definitely a great place to go to when visiting Melbourne, if it's either for Shopping or simply to browse.

As a former employee, i have found working at this particular department store very disturbing. Some of the staff there are extremely rude, racist, condescending and discriminating. Especially the older staff who have a problem with the younger staff just because they are younger in years. As a person of colour who has tattoos and takes pride in my apperance, I have been discriminated against certain people that work there and therefore I do not recommend working there at all. Certain memebers of staffhave made the working environment a very dissapointing and unenjoyable experience for me personally to the point where I litterally want to puke when I think about the experience. Too much gossiping, bullying, and discrimination. Extremely dissapointed.

I ordered a product 57 days ago. Nothing received. I have sent multiple emails. Found out that the item was stolen from an Auspost van. Informed David Jones of this and that they would receive a reimbursement from AusPost. Still nothing. I understand that times are difficult but I have been without the product or my funds for two months. Please respond.

It's a stand out! Whilst the structural interior hasn't exactly changes in decades, the service is still top notch. The selection of clothing is very good, whilst they understand they have limited spacing they seem to pick out the best outfits for each brand per season. In comparison to Myer, you will notice they share many of the same brands but the array of clothing is very different. I will always shop cosmetics at David Jones versus Myer, unfortunately beauty is very superficial and you want to be serviced by someone who looks like the goals you want in skincare. It's also far less chaotic then Myer and I think that's what has set David Jones apart from it's major competitor.

Overall it's not too bad. The new menswear section is nicely laid out as is the rest of the store. The homeware and luggage departments are pretty average. Always missing stock or the items are only on this display and you have to purchase it else where. I miss the old building with the food court on the basement level. Though it was beginning to look a little dated.

Having been unsuccessful in buying a pair of Julius Marlow patent leather dress shoes from Myers store which were on discount I ventured into David Jones. Here I was served by a very cheerful and helpful assistant who found a pair in my size. When I queried the possibility of price matching the 25% off at Myer he was more than happy to oblige when shown the ad on my phone. A great experience.

Love David Jones. A classy Department store in Melbourne with a better selection of retail goods. Great range of Xmas decor during Xmas- sells out fast. We went to the shoe section as it was listed as a Castener distributor but unfortunately they don’t sell them there anymore. But the customer service was friendly and helpful offering alternative options.

David Jones Bourke Street: Christmas Cheer Amidst City Grandeur Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, David Jones Bourke Street shines as a beacon of elegance and variety. Stepping into this grand department store is like entering a festive wonderland, especially during the Christmas season. Easy Access, A City Staple: Its central location makes it effortlessly accessible, eliminating the need for long commutes or awkward parking searches. Whether you're a seasoned city explorer or a tourist on a shopping spree, David Jones is practically at your doorstep. Festive Feast for the Senses: Walking through the doors was like stepping into a Christmas cornucopia. The air buzzed with holiday cheer, the decorations sparkled, and the shelves overflowed with tempting gift ideas. Finding something for everyone on your list felt like a breeze, thanks to the sheer heap of variety they offer. Whether you're searching for designer fragrances, luxurious homewares, or a cozy jumper for grandma, David Jones has it all. Christmas Spirit in the Customer Service: Christmas shopping can be stressful, but the staff at David Jones made it a joy. The cashier, despite the holiday rush, was helpful and friendly, making sure my checkout experience was smooth and efficient. This personal touch added a layer of warmth to the already festive atmosphere. Big Store, Bigger Impressions: The sheer size of the store might intimidate some, but I found it quite navigable.

I went in to DJs to waist some time, walking around. Shop assistant greatest with a smile , asked if I needed help. Saying everything is fine I asked about a item they would not have Well they had it the only tshirt I loved and they had the last 5 on the country. Well I took all 5, see what happens when people are nice and smile . The Ralph Lauren lady's deserve a nice shout out.

What a gorgeous place to shop! The beauty and luxury concessions look immaculate. I visited the men's department and was really pleased with the selection of tailoring, streetwear and upmarket casual clothing. Everything was clean and organised too! Kudos goes out to the everyone in the Men's footwear department (Lin especially) with her charming, friendly and helpful service. I felt comfortable and looked after but not pressured or unattended which I appreciate. I visited twice and am satisfied with my purchases. Keep up the good work!!

Visited store on Black Friday after work on Sunday 26 November 2023, I received great service from Sahar and her Manager Chloe with Glasshouse fragrances and candles, and both went the extra yard for me, unfortunately they were out of stock with the promotional gift but found me something, thanks to both of you, then Thomas helped me with my Chloe purchases and gave me some samples, again great service, I work in retail and times are tough, but with Sahar, Chloe and Thomas they are 3 great ambassadors for DJ’s and provided me with great service, again thank you very much, DJ’s membership rewards member.

Wondering if David Jones executives would be comfortable eating their lunch over a nappy bin? If not, why do they expect babies to be fed next to them? Of all the breastfeeding rooms I have fed in, have never seen a breastfeeding room that has even one nappy bin in it, let alone this many.

Menswear department; David Jones, 5th floor,; Bourke Street, Melbourne. I was extremely grateful for the assistance of Eddy this week (Wednesday Jan. 3, ‘24). Mine was only a single purchase, not expensive, but important to me. Eddy gave me the benefit of his great experience and considerable product knowledge. My favourite place to shop when I need a new dress. Has all the best brands, always high quality and latest trend. Super well stocked with sizes and plenty of new products each time I go. Lots of fitting rooms available, rarely ever need to line up. Also has bathrooms available.

I ordered a few items from David Jones on 20 August and still haven't received my order. On Aus Post website the status hasn't been changed from "We've got it" on 20 Aug to anything new. It is impossible to get through to Aus Post line to find out what is the status of delivery. When submitting an inquiry on David Jones website I only received a respond saying that it "may take longer than expected for you to receive your parcel". How much longer? Is it possible to collect the items? Very disappointed with David Jones's service and no updates on online deliveries

I must share my very good experiences recently at DJ City store. I purchased a belt last month from men’s department, it has reversible buckle. After a month use I found it was perfect on one side, but when I use the other side of the buckle I noticed the corner was a bit too pointy. So I went back to the store last Saturday to check if it was common on this product. It was. I was a bit disappointed. When I mentioned my observations to the sales lady (Lin if I remember correctly), I received outstanding help. She listened to my story and did her own check, then she found another belt of same brand, same price and offered me exchange. Moreover she said she’ll give feedback to the buyers so customer voice can reach supplier. It was such a nice experience. Thanks Lin (?), thanks DJ.

I recently ordered a full price dress online Shona Joy Clemence The dress that was sent to me was the dress I ordered however it had been worn, had a hand written tag attached saying it was marked down to $249 (I paid $360) where there should be 3 buttons at the back, all 3 are missing, the inside tag shows sweat marks/makeup & the inside stitching has come apart where it is supposed to hold in place part of the dress. I purchased it to wear to an event next weekend. DJs won’t reorder a replacement without me paying again & I do not have time to reorder directly through Shona Joy as they cannot guarantee they could get it to me in time. I am so disappointed with this experience as I spend a lot of money at David Jones Very very disappointing DJs.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have been trying to get an item of clothing that arrived faulty replaced for going on 2 months now. Their responses are useless and provide no help what so ever. I am TRYING to drive all conversation as I want this sorted. They have even tried to give me a $17 refund on a $200 jacket that arrived faulty instead of sending out a replacement before they get their faulty one back. They have seen the photos and are aware of the problem yet have taken almost 2-3 months to still not have anything sorted.

Bought something on line after going into Southland but not stocked. Had to get a DJ account to buy the item. A little while later after taking the money - can't fulfill the order. No reason given. That's about 2 hours of my life I won't get back.

They always have mad cool stuff and how could you not love the David Jones experience. The smell, the fabrics, the elevators, the food court, the beep as your debit card declines cos you maxed it out TT

5 stars for the lovely Italian girl called Linda working in Chanel with the red hair. I went in to look for some products that i wasn't sure about and Linda went out of her way to help me and find the right product!!! I was so happy with her service!!! She is an incredible staff member and you must be lucky to have her! I left with the things i really wanted and so happy with my perfumes too. I will be telling all my friends to go here and see her! Thanks Linda :) xxx

David jones is going through an exceptional revamp. The women's clothing floor looks stunning and I'm excited to see what they do with the other floors as well. Great range, although sometimes sizes can be limited especially if popular. Overall, a great shopping experience

My husband and I went into David Jones to find a suit for an upcoming event. We found the perfect blue plaid suit from Hugo Boss and experienced amazing customer service from the manager, Troy. Thank you so much for your incredible assistance - looking forward to picking it up next week after alterations and of course, wearing it in a couple of weeks time😄

I went to the men's section of the David Jones Mall Store. Very well laid out and welcoming for all types of shoppers. The range of products is quite impressive too.

Dinosaur display on the 7th floor was awesome , ( it's only there for a short time) was a good free event . Spray lots of expensive perfume on you on your way out !

Visited this store with my friend on Saturday 23 July. He was buying facial products and aftershave. Had the most enjoyable conversation with 2 female staff members who made us feel very welcome and answered our questions without making us feel like a burden. Thoroughly recommend this DJs wish I knew their names to send a thank you to Head Office. Great customer service is really refreshing and much appreciated (and seemingly rare...I'm looking at you Burberry). Recommended for great customer service and revamp of store.

A visitor to Melbourne. After our trip by train into Melbourne then walking the lane ways and streets we stopped in at David Jones for a well earned cup of hot chocolate. Service was very good and we had a table and chairs to rest our weary feet. Food coming out of the kitchen looked tasty.

Boutique mall 🏬 along Bourke Street, Melbourne ❤️ If you want consistent, top-grade customer service or if you’re the type of person who spends $300 AUD on dinner over the weekend without blinking an eye, then you may find this place more in line with your status 👍🏻

Ladies fashion on levels 1 & 2 is exquisite. I was only there 20 minutes late Saturday arvo so planning to go back and take it all in!

sad to see David Jones, Australia prime shopping retail turn into what happen today. what was happen is I was in David Jones Melbourne City store. and I pick a Tommy Hilfiger top and the price mark as 79 than extra 20% off. when bring to casual the cashier told me that is $119. I let him know is not the price marked as 79 and 20% extra. he himself checked on the system also walk to the rack and check than came back told me maybe the price wrong but if wrong can't be all wrong, because after I went checked all the same design marked as 79. so he asked me to wait he checked online so I think only few minutes wait. but he actually went into the website and start scrolling one by one. 10 mins or more later he still checking, than I ask how long should I wait? coz this is ridiculous that I have to wait there to go into their online website to check one by one. so I suggest him should he ask the higher authority to see what can they do or say. than he say oh ya..later on keep looking for manager and still couldn't find the answers. he refer to a senior staff I believe than they both discussed and I still wait patiently. after 20 min I give up and say that is ridiculous and walk away. I went back to the rack to check all the price and is all price as 79. the senior staff came to me after all the hassle and say they can do the special price for me.but I just refused to take anymore. very sad to see our high premium retail store turn into this scenario.. After I posted the review on their Facebook review someone actually ask to provide details and the bourke Street manager will contact me. But unfortunately After waiting for 5 days unfortunately it hasn't. I strongly believe if the company can't do what they promised I strongly think they shouldn't promise what they can't achieve. Unfortunately on my review title on Facebook I press the wrong button by saying that I RECOMMEND David Jones but actually I'm not. No wonder DJ have to sold the empire kingdom coz under this poor management I believe there are more shopping options out there

I went by the store this morning to buy a gift for a co-worker. I was immediately assisted by a lovely woman (I believe her name was Espacia?). She went above and beyond tracking down the item from the storeroom, removing price tags so it could be gift wrapped, and ensuring I got the best possible price with the current promotions. I left shortly later, holding a beautiful gift within my desired budget. Outstanding customer service!

Hadnt been to the store in years and I must say that it has improved greatly. From it being empty with no available staff (back then) to now available staff at every counter. Its beautifully refurbished with new and improved sections for shopping, browsing, sit and chill for a coffee break. They also offer a personal stylist service too which I cool if you need to update your wardrobe needs or a new look. I was very impressed and would come back in store than my usual shop online.

I went with my daughter who were on crutches to the level 5 to look for a tempur millinium pillow. We asked for direction but only was told it’s right at the back. No service shown by this young sales assistant. Anyway, we were served by Riki, a friendly & helpful lady who spent time to assist my daughter to try the best pillow for her neck & shoulder. We were very happy & ended buying the pillow & a silk pillow case too! Thanks Riki for your excellent service & help.

Excellent collection of men's clothing, they carry brands like country road and sportscraft. Building is connected to Melbourne central on level 2. They often have a good range of items on discount.

David Jones is a great place to shop! It's becoming very competitive with pricing and I also found some clothing to be better priced here than Myers! Variety is also seemingly better here, I would really recommend for a quick shopping trip. I was in a hurry to shop for a vacation, and all my requirements were right here! Happy customer! Cheers!

Yesterday i was assisted by a fellow in the Joe Black men's suit section by the name of Jeff. I was in a hurry to pick up a new shirt for my tux and i also asked him where i could get some pants altered on the spot for a function that evening. Thinking that i would have no chance of getting pants altered in the city at 3pm on a Sunday, Jeff was fantastic! Pointed me in the direction of where to go and who to see. Total professional. Thank you for helping me.

I came to David Jones today looking gifts for my daughter for Christmas, spent an hour wandering around until I met a little Hellen, who is working at Witchery. She was amazing and lovely assisting me the whole time.
