Cafe Hunt [Day 2]: I heard lots of great things about Timbertain and it’s also rated as one of the best coffee spots in Vancouver. And all holds true. The espresso was chocolatey and bold but not too strong or too acidic. The almond croissant was fresh, with a crunchy exterior and soft, butter, almond crème field interior. Ambience was chill, music was guitar and bass instrumental. Overall, had a great experience and would recommend!

This is an update on my recent experience at the Timbertain Gastown. I am not the type of person who write negative reviews but I have to address this. I was at the cafe earlier this afternoon to get my coffee. There was a barista name “Chris” who was working there at the time. He wasn’t please that I use my face-ID NFC authentication on my phone as a form of payment at the POS. He told me to put a mask back on with such an attitude. The face mask was still under my chin for only just one-second during authentication process in front of a huge plexiglass partition. I was pretty shocked and appalled by this. I make purchases 98% of the time with my phone and I do not carry a wallet. I have never had any problems anywhere in the city except this man at Timbertain Gastown. If you establishment do not honour face-id authentication payment method then I would advise you to put a sign in store. All in all I was disappointed with the experience. Spend your money elsewhere.

It's been a while since I've been to this location, but it's still one of my favorites! The coffee was very good even for the batch brew. Seating was limited and it didn't look like they have much in terms of plugs for remote work or studying. I do appreciate that they are now open at 8am instead of 9am. They are definitely competing with the likes of Revolver and Nemesis around the corner. So the fact that they open now at similar hours just gives me and others another option to visit to get my morning fuel.

Very unique coffee collection. These guys have small batch coffee roasted with very special flavors. Funky decor with a very interesting seating system. If you like to try none traditional coffee flavors try them out. Worth a taste 👅

It was my first time here and I’m also not deep into coffee but the staffs were so friendly and helpful and taught me a couple cool things about nitrogen brew. I had this blueberry mochi cake as a recommendation to compliment my Congo brew and it was such a delightful surprise! A very industrial setting with the barista displaying their skills right in front of you! A cool place to hang out or study, too!

Walked in to an empty storefront which looked lovely. Stood in place at the order area for over 5 minutes (timed) as the employee behind the bar moseyed around doing various cleaning, putting away etc. No customers in sight waiting for drinks. We weren't greeted or told to hang on or any acknowledgement of our existence. We left after waiting.

Love it here - one of my fave coffee shops in the city. Cute decor, friendly service (once saw a single barista blast though the longest line up so efficiently it was like magic, honestly), and quite literally the best vegan cookie I’ve ever had. Very cute cups if you have your coffee there as well. Highly recommend.

My absolute favorite coffee shop in the city. Perfect coffee and the Matcha Almond Strawberry is brilliant! The staff go out of their way to greet everyone who comes into the shop, making it one of the more friendlier cafe's in Gastown. The newer staff always learn my name and my "usual" order, and have been so welcoming. The atmosphere created in this space is why I come so often. Thanks to Latitia, Brad, James and Mia for always making me feel so welcome.

Top 2 coffee shops I visited in Vancouver. Pretty busy but still made drinks in timely manner. I came two different times on the weekend and tried an almond milk latte and an oat milk latte. Enjoyed both but preferred the almond milk. Friendly staff. Cool vibes in this quaint coffee shop.

Excellent coffee in Gastown. We spent 5 days in Vancouver and this was definitely one of the best coffees I had during my stay. It’s a very understated entrance so you need to know exactly where it is. Lovely bench seating area inside. Service was superb- friendly and welcoming. The coffee was just wonderful! If you’re a big coffee geek then you’ll want to come here.

Definitely worth a visit. Local roaster. Know their game. Let you taste different coffees. Not the best one in Vancouver, but still pretty good

This place Always on point ! Flatwhite with oat milk is a bomb. Best one so far in the downtown. The creamy texture with the flavourful coffee bean tastes works together really well. Highly recommended. Only downside was you can only dine in 45mins top since it is small cafe.

good vibes. decent coffee. Great beans but neither espresso/pourover were as dialed in as they could be. Still a great spot to lounge and gather though! I'm looking forward to trying the beans at home. The described notes look great and the beans smell 👾 out of this world.

Loveeeed the scones, they were so moist inside. You must get the cheese scone! Wide range of espresso options. Matcha could have had a bit more matcha taste or less milk. Cosmic Candy was delicious.

Best cappuccino I've had in Vancouver so far, after being disappointed by many other coffee shops. Also love the branding, the vibe, and the quaint space. 🚂

Easily the best coffee I had in Vancouver. Kiwis and Aussies know good coffee.

Excellent pour over coffee, scone is excellent also, it's this type of coffee shop that puts a smile on our face. My son loved his hot chocolate too. The open door idea is good to air things out, but it keeps things quite chilly on the inside. Thank you and keep it up 😊

Love the coffee and the vibe at Timbertrain! Such a cool looking space and their coffees are consistently good. They also have delicious pastries that you will definitely enjoy. I have received really good service in my recent visits and I hope to return again soon, especially when dine in opens again. Only complaint? I wish they have more locations!

A hidden gem - I've never had to wait in an absurd line like some other local coffee shops nearby. I do love their selection of available pour over coffees on any given day, and their espresso tonics are a unique drink that I first experienced here. That and the unique seating always makes me smile (the simple things, right?). They had a marshmallow cookie once that I still think about to this day, and it was drool worthy. Great little spot for a decent cup of coffee and treat!

Coffee is excellent. Not too strong or bitter like a lot of shops in Van. Smooth tasting and the baked goods look pretty good, very fresh. I thought they were very conscious of cleanliness and service.

We had been travelling from Australia where we love our coffee, so were on a mission wherever we stopped to find great coffee. At Timbertrain Coffee not only did we find what I would say is the best coffee in Vancouver, but also the friendliest and welcoming of staff. They made a great flat white but would also recommend the Slow Drip coffee as well - I tried the Guatamala one and was surprised how the notes of raspberry and chocolate ganache came through. Definitely give this place a go and chill out with the team over a great coffee 😀

The barista is very experienced, comparable to the European baristas. Ordered a pure-over (v60), it was prepared in the right way: slowly, with proper time intervals. Good coffee aftertaste. On Sunday it was a little busy, but right after someone left the table the staff disinfected it. The interior is old, which has its pros (atmosphere, no need to repaint) and cons (a pipe with slised paint above the head makes me a bit nervous). Music isn't loud, which is great, but speakers are dusty, which isn't great 😅 Mugs are comfy to hold. Great space management with the tables for 1-6 people.

Very high quality latte. Not bitter. Not sour. Perfect. They offer Mylk (James Hoffman's brand) and they actually hand craft each drink. Plus they are stroller and family friendly. Will definitely go back again. And again. Thank you.

Best latte in the city! And their yummy almond croissant is huge. Must visit coffee place if you are around 💛

When the sun is out this coffee shop gets direct sunlight in the front of the store making it a popular place for people to go and soak up some rays while on coffee break. The coffee is flavourful and usually there is a couple of different bean options available. Great place to study or have a business coffee meeting thanks to its table design and setup.

Apparently even my baby girl loves their coffee 😂 I love the interior design of this place, cozy and yet chic. Coffee is excellent, also bought some beans which are top notch.

👍👍 Try visiting here once if you ever need breakfast/brunch food. The earl grey cream puff is so rich and full of flavor it definitely is my favorite. The sandwiches here are fresh and they warm it up for you and it comes with a fresh pickle on the side which is so good. I recommend the lavender latte...
