Disgusting dirty place much like the rest of Paris. The barriers are so old, and faulty such that valid tickets do not get accepted. Tourists get targeted and yelled at by aggressive staff who force them pay €60 fines. (They shout over you when you are trying to explain to them your situation politely.) Stay away from Paris, come to London instead. (We have adequate public transit, and far friendlier people who aren’t scammers.) TRY TO EARN YOUR LIVELIHOOD VIA LEGITIMATE WAYS YOU SCAMMERS.

One of the more significant metro stations, Nation is an effective public transport service which links multiple train lines together. There were multiple exit/entry-ways to traverse the platform and handles a large flow of people very well. However, Nation can be a quite confusing platform at times with multiple trains turning up at once with signs portraying incorrect times which caused some confusion for me and the other passengers. This was quickly corrected, though.

Beautiful located big square with a giant statue in the middle. Good place to enter one of the many metro lines they have in Paris.

A masterpiece showing how to design a station for efficiency. Two separate RER ticket halls, one for entry, and one for exit. Gotta be careful which way you go. If you take the exit turnstiles by accident, you get spat out onto the street, with no way back in.

Excessively confusing station without enough escalators. If you exit, don’t throw away your ticket as there may be yet more exits! Some chancer waited at an exit for us after we threw away tickets, so that they could fine us. The Paris metro is relatively efficient, but the tech is very very outdated. You have to use paper tickets which are only valid for certain zones, but the zone maps are rare and zones aren’t marked on the trains either. Overall, it feels deliberately confusing and unnecessarily over-complicated. RAMT obviously have a business model with a lot of weight lifted by fining tourists unfairly. Says a lot about Paris as a city and it’s attitude to those visiting. 1*

Nation Square is a large, busy roundabout in eastern Paris. It is dominated by the Triumph of the Republic, a large bronze sculpture by Aimé-Jules Dalou. The square is a popular gathering place for demonstrations and festivals.

Unfortunately the line we were transferring to was closed. Some notice before arrival or even on the app would have been useful. Staff were very friendly and helpful though.

Located halfway between the 11th and 12th arrondissements and bounded by Boulevard de Charonne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, the Nation district with its square remains a central point of the city and bears witness to Parisian craftsmanship .

A place where the smell of urine hits the face. Disastrously. Paris subways will remain in our memories with the smell of mold and urine.

It was much more than the expectations I had in mind. The place is quite spacious. You can request a map or a guide. It is accessible to pregnant womans, the elderly, children and even people with disabilities almost with all of it
