Beautiful, yet expensive. From what me, my girlfriend and my brother-in-law have experienced: The outside sight of the castle is just magnificent - really a beauty - but if you try to get inside, you must pay for a €12 ticket per person. Comparing to other castles and museums in the Netherlands, Kasteel Helmond is an expensive option.

Cool museum in a real castle. You learn a lot about knights and other people that lived in the castle that time. You can see clothes, weapons and other accessories which were important... It's very nice to visit with children!

Recommended!!!Ice is small but nice. Medieval melodies can also be heard in front of the entrance, which immediately takes you back to that time. The wooden games from back then are also available to try out in the entrance. The animal inhabitants are presented in the courtyard. The employees wear traditional clothing, which is also the icing on the cake!

A surprise. Interesting and nice castle museum. Both for adults and children. Very hospitably received. First used the restaurant for coffee. Also received a warm welcome and delicious coffee there. Beautifully decorated museum with a lot of attention to the history of the residents. The period rooms of the most recent residents are impressive and lifelike. Cloakroom and toilets available in several places. It was a surprising visit for us. More than worth it.

Be sure to visit! It is the largest water castle in the Netherlands. Tickets can be easily purchased online or on site. There is a combination ticket with which you can visit the castle and the art gallery. The local people are very nice and helpful. The museum offers many activities, especially recommended for children.

We were lucky because there was celebrations in the city and the castle. There were a lot of children activities and competitions. Also few snack kiosks were there.

I really liked the castle and exposition which carefully leads you from medieval times when the castle was founded to modern times. Some parts of exposition were even a bit scary (like a mummy of a cat and a part about witch hunt and witchcraft in medieval Europe), also due to the fact that I was mainly alone in the museum. But it is definitely something I will remember. Most of the descriptions inside the museum are in Dutch but crucial info is available in English as well. There is also a cafe where you may order regular food such as soup as well as sweets and drinks (coffee, tea, beer among the rest). Prices are not high. Student ticket is 5 EUR. Maybe some easily impressed people should go with a company🙂

A beautiful moated castle in the center of Helmond. It is good to visit with children as the first part of the museum is designed accordingly. The path is aligned with the historical process and also shows the living quarters of the last owners.

Great for a day trip with the kids. The castle is made into a museum. Renovated with modern interior details. Friendly guides dressed in costumes from the old times. Also convenient for elderly since there aren't too many stairs to climb as in other castles.

Great experience for all ages, especially for kids! Really recommend this. Kids can explore the castle life through dress up, games, and interactive displays. Love the friendly staffs as well.

Almost a year ago we purchased Museum Cards with the whole family and since then we have visited quite a few castles and palaces, but to be honest I thought this was certainly the least of the series. The bottom floor is mainly aimed at children, the floor above has been drastically renovated and has nothing authentic left, you certainly don't feel like you are in a centuries-old castle there. Our children, who normally enjoy these kinds of outings, were not very impressed, and to put it bluntly, I found it a bit boring. Two stars for the castle, one extra for the very friendly staff.

This is an unexpected treasure for all ages. Laid out beautifully and includes a wonderful historic journey through the ages of Helmond. Great variety of displays creates a perfectly accessible and interesting experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved it.

Best interactive tour in The Netherlands. The best castle in the Netherlands. Audio tour in multiple languages, staff courteous and helpful. A must see

What I liked the most was how kid friendly the castle is!! At the entrance there are some games from the era. Once inside, the kids can take a picture wearing knight's armour, play some more games, they can also wear a costume or a shield through the castle, and they are given a scavenger's hunt sheet with pictures they should tick once they find them around the castle. At they end they are given a diploma.

This museum received the "Kidsproof" museum award and rightfully so. There's a lot to see and do for kids. They can become an official knight when successfully completing their quest (ranging from finding items in the castle to learning about Medieval life). Many times during the year they have special events, including storytelling and live demos. The area where kids can be little painters is also a great idea. Very nice to see the interaction and how they help each other. This means it's also a good museum for adults and the entry ticket is also the admission for the other building of the museum with modern art, once you are done with dressing up like knights. Expect to spend 1.5 to 3 hours, including a short break in the cafe.

#44Helmond free to enter with the museum card. The outside is well maintained. The inside is a little dull if you are not into this type of thing, but they have tried to liven it up with some screens and animations, for me the view from inside the castle is worth seeing and I loved one very colourful exhibition 'Maria Van Brabant' . A powerful woman who's legacy is/was somewhat underappreciated . Nice cafe and courtyard. Next to castle are the fabric warehouses also interesting to see along the canal #railthetrails

Helmond is a cute small city. It has a lot of stores and restaurants from different countries. Easy for an afternoon. The city centrum is nice and pleasant. You can find those upside down houses too and a beautiful castle. (I’ve got a 360* picture of the castle inside here in the profile) Easy transport from Eindhoven (10 min by train)

It is a beautiful and well care medieval castle, super nice for kids, they have activities for them during the visit, they can dress as the royalties and play.

Drove past it many many times, but never visited the castle. Until today. On one hand a nice experience, but on the other hand, the expected authentic Castle feeling was not there. Probably because of modern renovations in the 20th century. Nonetheless a nice experience showing a bit of the history of the place. The staff is real friendly as well.. 4 stars..

Great castle with an outstanding entertainment for children. The staff really goes above and beyond for the children and sets a magical atmosphere. What a pleasure to visit this location and the museum cafe is a great and really affordable place for a drink and a lunch during the visit.

Christmas is a special time to experience Kasteel Helmond. With storytime performances and volunteers dressed up in period costume, the kids will be amazed by the experience. They've done a good job with interactive games/exhibits geared for kids and the scavenger hunt around the castle keeps the kids curious and engaged. All-in-all a good time!
