(Translated by Google) Impressive little museum about the prison at the time of the second world war. The Audiotour provides good support for what the point of interest actually is; the dramatic time the prisoners spent there. The people who are there to support you can tell you a lot. An absolute must for everyone who visits Schevingen and who also has a little more time than just a visit to the beach.

The Oranjehotel was the name the Dutch attributed to the Scheveningen prison during the Second World War. Here the Germans detained over 25,000 people for interrogation and prosecution. Those who violated regulations imposed by the Germans covered a broad spectrum and came from all corners of the Netherlands. Most were members of the Resistance, but those imprisoned here also included Jews and Jehovah’s Witnesses, as well as people detained for economic offences, such as dealing on the black market. Even during the war, the complex was called Oranjehotel as a tribute to the Resistance members imprisoned there.

Alright guys. This is not a hotel! ( staff asked me to tell everyone) it’s world war 2 historical remains. A bit heavy but nicely be preserved. Staff was pretty friendly and patiently explain things to you. Small exhibitions but lots of history meaning here. Highly recommend to check out when you’re in town. It’s also close to the beach so could make it a day tour.

A lot of work has been put into turning this prison into a museum. A lot of information for the second world war era and interviews with former "prisoners".

Parts of the actual old prison has been turned into this monument with lots of attention to detail and to the tragic personal experiences so many people went through. Impressive story telling and authentic presentation of a dark part of history.

A very interesting museum about the gruesome WWII period where the Dutch heroes were locked up. It's a shame the museum started in 2019 and not way sooner. Highly recommended!

Surely an interesting place to visit. But first you need to find a parking space! The museum is very modern and offers detailed audio tours in various languages. The staff is very friendly and the exhibition is interesting. But after while of listening to the inmates stories on your audio guide you get fed up with standing and listening in the same room for half an hour. And then you really need to force yourself to proceed. The introductory film in the cells is very impressive and worthwhile.

Excellent muesum. So much history. €7 for a young person is such good value for the amount you see. Steve who works here was so kind and gave us lots of information. The exhibit was fascinating. I do think it would be interesting to have more history about the prison after the war and occupation. A place that will stay with me for a long time.

Powerfully and wonderfully presented museum about the experience of Dutch prisoners (esp political prisoners) during WW2. Moving and memorable. Not the easiest place to get to by public transportation but worth the effort.

Amazing museum with great history of what the prison once was. It has a big focus on the Nazi era, when the prison was used to house political prisoners. The museum offers a few videos about people's experiences while locked up, and a free audio tour is included as well. Highly recommended. We stumbled across it by accident, and were glad we did.

The stories that the former cell inmates tell are very interesting amd touching. We‘ve spent about 2 hours in there but it didn‘t feel like that long. The staff was very friendly too!

What an incredible historical site. The curators have really done a fantastic job of presenting this place as more than just a prison. You get an overwhelming sense of what suffering happened in here. Although the focus is on the use of the prison as a detention site for those who crossed the Nazi occupiers in the 1940s, nothing is lost from the other ways the site was used. It is a must see for history buffs, and those who want a close up experience of The Netherlands in World War 2. You will really come away thinking differently about detention.

It was alright some people in my family enjoy it others didn't I think it definitely could of been better and more detailed. There could be a lot more added as they added a video explaining it but they didn't put in half of what was in the video. I'm half disappointed.

These stories need told, this was an amazing experience. I know its only recently opened, but I don't understand why it's not promoted by the tourism sector. Honestly the audios, videos, the layout is brilliant.
