3 Januari 2022 de Relex Smile behandeling ondergaan. Bij deze duurdere behandeling zou je minder droge ogen krijgen, maar ik kreeg extreme droge ogen. Mijn huisarts heeft me doorverwezen naar een andere refraktiechirurg, wat moeilijk ging omdat een second opinion van de behandelende oogarts hoort te komen. Visus weigerde deze mij te geven, omdat patiënten naar Visus zouden komen voor second opinions. Helaas voor mij zijn de wachttijden erg lang, vaak enkele maanden. In het oogziekenhuis Rotterdam zaten ze al in mei aan het aantal maximum second opinion voor refraktiechirurgie. Deze externe oogarts heeft mij oogdruppels voorgeschreven die postoperatieve pijn verminderen (er bestaan er meerdere) en dat heeft ook goed geholpen. Ik heb maanden met discomfort rondgelopen omdat Visus te laks is om adequate nazorg te leveren. Alles wordt uitbesteed aan optometristen die geen medicijnen kunnen voorschrijven en mijn behandelaar heeft ook geen BIG-registratie, dus hij kon ook geen medicijnen voorschrijven. It took him between 2-3 minutes in total to apply the laser treatment and remove the lenticules from my eyes. It is a very delicate procedure, but the doctor was very precise and quick, probably due to his extensive experience and skill. The first hours post-op were rather unpleasant, I had a hard time keeping my eyes open and tolerating any source of light. However, after about 4-5 hours post-op, most of the discomfort was gone and my vision has been improving by the hour. Today I am on my 1st day post treatment and my vision has recovered at about 80%. My eyes don't even feel dry in between drops. I can see clearly in distance and can even use my computer to write this review. I am so amazed by this procedure and by the professionalism that everyone in this clinic has shown. I cannot wait to see how my vision will develop in the next days/weeks, but I feel I am already off to a very great start seeing so much improvement so quickly! I had SMILE eyes laser on 27-09-2021 (2 years ago) and it was the best decision ever made. Ever since the operation I woke up everyday seeing everything clearly. The operation itself was not paintfull at all. The photo added is the place where you relax after the operation to heal before going home. After 4 days I could work behind the computer again. I had Lasik with wavefront cause I didn't see any added benefits to SMILE (did a lot of research before hand), and the optometrist was supportive of my decision (sometimes they try and coax you into the more expensive option, whereas here I had choice) and am really happy with the results. The process was super quick, they guided you. Mine was like 6-10 seconds per eye. I heard it's always like a conveyer belt but there were only 4 people in my group so didn't feel like that. It obviously depends per person how well it will turn out but my vision was great quite quickly. It hurts A LOT when the eye drops wear off but it's worth it. The surgery was painless just super weird. But basically they seem super trustworthy, everyone I interacted with was really nice, and it's kind of what I'd expect at a good laser eye clinic.
