Hot take, this museum is overwhelming. I feel like I was shown every piece of technology that EVER passed through Italy. Seriously, there are 1800s naval ships, a space ship, a playstion, a basement dedicated to steel making, a wing on cultivating food, a piece of the moon, a jet fighter, a room dedicated to the entire Italian gas transmission pipeline network, a floor for da Vinci tech, a particle physics wing, a population growth wing, a global warming wing, an aluminum production wing, the telephone and telegraph, etc etc many more etc. The must have forgotten to add cars because it's the only tech missed. I think it's fair to say there is too much covered in this museum because every room/wing/floor is something TOTALLY different than the last one. I appreciate the thoroughness, but you can't focus attention on 19,000 different pieces that don't relate and expect guests to constantly shift focus. You could spend a entire day here, or weeks reading and watching and playing everything. There are a couple of fun art installation pieces but it's otherwise just too much varying info. At least you get to see a ton for the price.

Extensive museum covering technology from many different eras and areas, including a great section dedicated to Da Vinci where you can learn a lot about him and his doings. Great for adults and children alike for a relatively low price. We spent around 3 hours in there which could be longer or shorter depending on how much you read and interact with the various things in the museum. The museum is quite centrally located and easily reached by public transport or just walking

The content is great and you can easily spend 4 hours here. I have to however take away a star for few things that are glaringly missing - its a lot of distance waking and standing and I could see children getting cranky towards the middle of the tour. This could have been easy to solve for by providing more resting spots and water stations along the way. The second blindspot was not having a restaurant. Given that this museum takes about 4 hours to visit, most visitors specially kids will need food and cookies and chips don't cut it when you need lunch. While you have the option of stepping out for food and coming back in ( which we did ) depending what month and day you go most restaurants might be closed ( we found only ONE open ). Otherwise the visit was very enriching. There were some interaction games that kids were enjoying ( wish there were more :) ) overall recommended for sure but we recommended you plan your trip and carry wholesome snacks and water that you can eat in the picnic area.

Its an Amazing place for science lovers, engineering mind, and facts followers, this place is good for any age and need like 4 hrs to concentrate, read and enjoy each single stage of it, starts with da Vinci plans and sketch draft drawing to produce simple physical tools even war tactics and weapons. Bypassing to amazing masterpieces and arts then you have the airplanes museums and sea ships also have another museums. I’ve been there and found 2 schools journeys and never felt bothered or annoyed. Helpful staff understanding english and can simply help you with anything.

Extraordinary place! This is a must see museum in Milan. All museum enthusiasts will enjoy it. All exhibits all well organized, many of them are allowing users to interact. Children are more than welcome. Places to rest also available. Stuff is barely noticeable. We had a great few hours there and highly recommended!

Probably this is the worst science museum I’ve ever been. The staff at the entrance is not friendly. The exhibition is boring and chaotic. All exhibits are mixed so there is no logical order. In addition there is no cafe inside where you can buy at least water. The only thing that they have is vending machine with drinks in the basement. But the problem that it’s not working: take money but don’t give an item. Very disappointing. This place definitely not worth time and money.

A very good museum in Milan. Here you have collection about Leonardo & Milan, some cool exhibitions and a huge collection about science in the previous centuries. Also they have a section about Space. The whole place is so big it may take you at least 3 hours to finish all of them. I like the Railway part the best! Also for parents, you can bring your kids here to try the science lab.

Awesome museum full of really interesting stuff. Universe, our planet, communication, real full sized boat, planes, real submarine or space rocket and more and more. All of it really beautiful. My girlfriend and I spent like 3,5 hours inside (if it was for me, I would have spent easily 5 hours :DD).

Very huge museum! We were impressed! Highly recommend to start one of your days with this museum because it can take long time(for our visit takes 3 hours and we were not able to visit the ships, boats and planes). Keep in mind that museum strictly follow the working hours and you will be kindly asked to leave after 6 pm. We were impressed because the explanation were translated in English. In the museum you can see steam power machines, iron smelting, detailed information about recycling, da Vinci collection, railways, planes, boats, ships and etc. There is kid corner on -1 level.

One of the best museums that I've been to in a while. Interesting topics abound. You can easily spend 3 - 4 hours learning all kinds of interesting history. They also have enough interactive modules to keep the kids busy.

Really nice museum of everything related to technology, with a special exhibit of Leonardo DaVinci. The museum itself was huge and we spend 3 hours there. Totally worth the entrance fee! Very clean and tidy place, but don't forget to bring your own drinks as none is sold there until the of the museum.

What an incredibly wonderful museum, absolutely amazing collection. The museum has 7 main departments which have everything from televisions, telephones, telescopes, radios, Leonardo Da Vinci’s works, to trains, planes, automobiles and so much more. It’s one of the nicest science museums I’ve ever visited. It’s a great place for families and people with kids. I really enjoyed my time here and it’s definitely worth checking out.

Science museum, a large place with 4 exhibition floors and many internal exhibition rooms, lots of information and activities for children and youth with explanations in different languages. Very interesting. Lots of exhibits on technology and science, two and a half hours and more of touring the exhibits, Sunday was not busy. Entrance cost about 10 euros per person for youth and children cheaper.

An amazing place to learn the evolution of science and technology in Italy. Interactive sessions which not only bring inquisitiveness and a sense of learning amongst kids but also adults. The work of Leonardo da Vinci is also well portrayed. Do visit the sound room to have some fun.

Interesting things that keep your attention. Objects from all fields: history, aeronautics, art, astronomy, etc. My suggestion is to reserve 3 hours to visit this museum. It's really worth it and the ticket is very affordable 10 euros adult, 7.5 euros with discount.

This is a truly great museum. The collection is very extensive and there's things of interest for all ages. We went early on a Sunday. I purchased tickets in advance, which was supposed to be faster, but we ended up waiting in the exact same like as everyone else, so I don't know that it was any faster. Also, we did not purchase a tour but it appears that there are some areas of the museum that you only get to see with a tour. If we go again I will certainly look into the guided tours.

We enjoyed the museum and guide who shared the Leonardo DaVinci exhibit with us most of all. There are many other exhibits so allow enough time, maybe 3 hours, if your fast. The neighborhood isn't great and there were no restaurants close by, so plane accordingly. Walking on the streets in July are a bit of a chore as the Temps are very hot πŸ”₯

The Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan is an utterly amazing destination that offers an exceptional experience for visitors of all ages. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the interactive exhibits and the wealth of knowledge they presented. One of the standout features of this museum is its interactive nature. It allows visitors to engage with the displays, providing a hands-on experience that truly brings the wonders of science and technology to life. Whether you're a curious child or a lifelong learner, there is something for everyone to enjoy and explore. During my visit, I couldn't help but notice that a few of the English explanations had been scratched off or were in need of maintenance. However, this minor issue did not detract from the overall experience. The museum's staff was helpful and informative, readily answering any questions I had and providing additional insights into the exhibits. I spent a good two hours meticulously going through the museum, taking my time to delve into the details of the exhibits that fascinated me the most. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Da Vinci exposition. The collection dedicated to this genius inventor and artist was mesmerizing, offering a profound glimpse into his brilliance and innovation. I walked away with a newfound appreciation for Da Vinci's contributions to various fields, from art to engineering and everything in between. If you find yourself in Milan, a visit to the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology is an absolute must. It is a place where the past meets the future, where inspiration flourishes, and where knowledge is shared in the most captivating way possible. Prepare to be enthralled by the wonders of science and technology, and to leave with a sense of awe and wonderment.

It took us 3h30 to go through the whole museum, without the optional activities. If you're with children, you might as well block out the day: there's a lot to see. They keep the most impressive for last with the trains, rocket, planes and boats. I love that they made science accessible for everyone!

The museum is simple but still amusing. Being located in the city center and minutes away from Duomo and city arch facilitates visiting it while you are in a middle of a busy day. You can also visit it while going for shopping in the near by shops and malls. Inside the museum there is a lot of artistic pieces as the first ship craft made in whole Europe with its artistic design that takes you back to the beautiful and amusing era of true art.

Very poor displays of most objects throughout the museum. Dull, with no spark. Interminably uninspiring. The exception is the new Leonardo gallery (just three rooms), which is very good. Signs to the cafΓ© in the main museum, only led to an area where hundreds of primary school children were eating their packed lunches with a vending machine. Shocking acoustics, unbearable noise (NB it was completely freaking out an autistic child). No excuse for this in the land of wonderful food and the best coffee. Terrible toilets. Bored teenagers loafing on any seat available (which weren't many). Would only recommend if you want to see Leonardo's machines (but they are displayed better elsewhere).

One of the best museums I have ever visited. I would label it as a must see when visiting Milano. Single ticket is less than 10€. It spans two flowers and a large outside area. At least 2 dedicated hours are recommended but you can spend much more here. There are so many well organised museum sections dedicated to various advancements, inventions, and success of the humans in the technology and science spheres. You will get an interactive walkthrough with parts you can touch, see, listen, interact, and play around with. One of the sections covers the work of Leonardo da Vinci and the various inventions he came up with. Humidity meter, weight balancer, parachute, etc. One of the other sections covers how the food industry advanced over the years from the discovery of yeast, plowing, refrigeration, fertilising, etc You will see the journey of people reaching moon, the rockets, the suits, spaceships, and the telescopes, early cartography and the globe. There are life sized trains, submarines, boats, and plains. Most of the things you can climb on. You can experience how it was operating one of those big machines. So so many other things in the museum too. All of the exhibits are well documented in both the Italian and English. It is also kid friendly.

Great museum especially if you like science. Not a ton of actual period pieces, but the ones that are there are quite nice. Lots of cool exhibits focusing on innovations of the last century. The ship and aircraft section may seem easy to skip over, but worth taking a look at.

The museum holds a large amount of cool/interesting pieces, some of which are interactive and, unlike other museums, kept me dialed in and made me want to know more. The place is very children-friendly and has some special games for them. However, the downside is that there is way too much stuff to see in one go, as I feel like navigating through a large variety of subjects (from history and ancient wars to recent technology and architecture) is rather overwhelming. All in all, it was a cool place to spend a couple of hours in while visiting Milan.

Really interesting and well laid out museum, I spent about 2.5 hrs browsing and reading up on all sorts of interesting things. There are also activities here for which one can sign up, very interesting for kids to see how technology evolved, I would definitely bring kids and adults alike here. The only thing I would improve is the offer in the gift shop.

Visited in November 2023. The museum, in the ancient monastery of San Vittore al Corpo in Milan, is divided into seven main departments: Materials Transport Energy (including Thermal power station Regina Margherita) Communication Leonardo da Vinci, Art & Science New Frontiers Science for young people Each of these departments have laboratories, especially for children and young students. Just to go through all the halls I needed 2 hours. So I think it's minimum you should dedicate to the place. I think it would be even more interesting with a guide. There's an exhibition dedicated to waste and I'd say the place is focused on children education. There's a little gift shop with a lot of things for kids too. Some staff I talked to spoke English or French.

This museum is a captivating blend past, present and future, making it an ideal destination for both kids and adults. This massive museum includes a rich collection of exhibits that seamlessly intertwine science and history from different perspectives. We visited this place with our kids, who don't speak Italian, we (adults) also struggle with this language, so we appreciated that (almost) everything is also available in English. When I say "almost", I mean that some videos or interactive stuff are only in Italian. The place is enormous, it's quite overwhelming to visit, especially with kids.

Reading other reviews very difficult to understand is it any good or no. In my opinion it’s very good and worth your time to visit. Of course like in any other museum something will be very boring and not interesting. Some other parts will be breathtaking. Others just interesting to have a look at, and others absolutely fascinating if you know history well enough. Where is no cafe or any place to buy snacks or drinks, just vending machine. So take a sandwich and a bottle of water with you.

We only had 1 1/2 hours unfortunately, but we managed to see very much anyway. On the top floor is a section about Leonardo da Vinci, which has many models of his designs. In other sections, there are exhibitions about space, about the earth, about the history of radio and the science behind it. There is also an outside section with a rocket and a submarine. Additionally there is a hall full of locomotives and train carriages. The last hall has ships and planes. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're interested in even one of those things, as you could spend hours in every section.

The museum is nice. One of the most impressive things for me was that you can enter in a part of a real transatlantic ship launched in 1925 - Conte Biancamano. The museum also has collections dedicated to Mars, space technology and of course Leonardo da Vinci work.

Must visit place in Milano Huge exhibitions about space, Da Vinci, photos, physics, astronomy etc The most unic museum I visited. You can see Da Vinci’s ideas, what he imagined and some of his real notes too. All along the museum there are a lot of experiment which you can try for example morse code, radio signals 7,5 € for students and 10 for adults

Great museum! Would definitely recommend. The museum is quite big though, it took us 4 hours to get trough. Due to corona there was no opportunity to drink or eat something. Due to the size of the museum it would have been goos to have more toilets and a restaurant for food and drinks.

  • 5/5 Ignatios F. 6 months ago on Google
The best that can be presented! You need 2 hours just to pass by in a normal way, just by reading titles and main descriptions. If you give into more detail, 4 hours is certainly required. Perfect and educational for everyone!

I thought this museum was pretty cool! Mixed reviews in the comments but it was kinda rainy when we were in Milan so thought this would be a good spot to spend a few hours indoors and we really enjoyed it! They have a lot of interactive pieces of the museum which is great for kids! I would recommend this if you’re in the same boat as us and needed to be inside for 2-3 hours.

Our FAVORITE find! An easy to navigate self-guided museum that is an immersive experience for adults and kids alike. Prebooked tickets online (10 euro per adult) and visited early July. We got there late morning and breezed in with no line. We spend a half day here but easily could have spend the whole day. There is a ton to see! All sorts of displays to explore. Floors and floors ranging from telecom, production, global warming, and astronomy lie within the first building. Outdoors you'll encounter a rocket, a garden and an entire building of trains and locomotives. THEN there's an entire other multi floor building with all things sea and air related. Ships and planes abound everywhere you look. ***Only con we encountered was navigating how to book the one "extra" experience that can be boked with each ticket. Nothing was available our day so we felt a little shorted. Some of the potential extras we saw were lab classes ranging from cooking to experiments, a mock astronaut mission in a climate controlled pod, tour of the indoor massive ship in the second museum building is built around, etc. *** Recommend this for anyone. Side note... after a visit go to the cafe across the street from the exit (in the sea and air section). They have amazing coffee and sandwiches.

A huge object with a lot of monuments and many creative inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci. The museum presents the genius of da Vinci, shows reconstructions based on his sketches and combines it with modern technology. The hangar filled with planes and a cruise ship is amazing. A place definitely worth visiting.

Impressive science museum! The museum has multiple floors and is divided to areas dedicated to different subjects. Some of them are : Old pharmacy, Leonardo Da Vinci, Space, Telecommunications, Particle physics, old trains, submarines and many others. They also have some workshops for kids but they were closed on the day of our visit. We got our ticket online and we're able to exchange it with a physical ticket since I collect them :) Overall, you shouldn't miss visiting this museum if you're in Milan.

  • 4/5 Leah H. 2 years ago on Google
We thought there would be more Da Vinci work so we were disappointed about that aspect, but the museum made up for it by offering some very impervious and interactive displays. For example, a bunch of old trains you can walk on, a massive ship, a submarine (you need to be in a tour to go inside), and a NASA exhibition with a piece of the moon and a rocket.

Amazing. I visited with my 7 years old son. Some part of museum was closed but still there are huge amount of things to see. Today we just scanned everything rather than studying it but it still took more than 3 hours. I want to visit more with my son to learn more things! younger kids may enjoy too by looking at real big trains or ships and stuffs. But I think older kids will enjoy much more. Everything is explained with Eng and Italian language both. It seems there are kids laboratories too which was closed during today's visit. I live near Milan, I definitely will bring any little guests here too in the future.

Excellent Museum! Apart from being good oriented, it also had numerous interactivities and interactions for us to spark curiosity on everything. The welcome was great, the ticked was so cheap for what we got, (comparing with other museums) and we enjoyed everything until the very last part of the museum. Museum is very very big and it takes long to see everything. We are not types for tehnology so it was little borring for us, but I'm sure that someone who understands technology can enjoy it. Also, there are many interactive activities so it would be fun for kids (not too young). We liked the part with ships and planes the most.

We been here ten year ago in our honeymoon πŸ’—, now we're back with to kids πŸ’ž. The Leonardo da Vinci Museum offers a captivating experience by displaying intricate replicas of his inventions, along with insights into his art and scientific explorations. It's a fascinating journey into the mind of a brilliant Renaissance thinker.
