Went here last April 2, totally had fun. Prices are very reasonable, it'll be even cheaper if you go in a group of 10. Staff is very helpful and friendly (one literally ran around looking for the English ski instructor for us, even if we already missed the 1pm class), and cafeteria food is good and reasonably priced. There's a restaurant supposedly, but it was closed so we didn't get to see it. It's a ski park so don't expect lodgings. Also, it's very bare bones, yet very comfy. Shuttle is available up to the nearest bus stop only, and nothing directly to Jomukogen or Minakami Station.

Small and older resort with lots of charm. Top runs have good pitches with bottoms finishing flatter and wider. Lodge is tight on space when the mountain is crowded, but that is only normally weekends.

Powder is great here when it snows, even with just 10cm. The lifts are kind of slow but they are long. Tickets are relatively cheap for the minakami area. Getting to the resort takes around 40 min from the highway on winding roads, but the facilities are good so there’s no need to move around.

Fantastic ski resort with powder snow. If you are traveling by car, please don’t forget to use snow chain.

Small ski resort with a handful of lifts. Mostly a beginner mountain but there was access to some side county runs from the top. There was also a small park with jumps and jibs

This is the place to run uphill!!! in summer. What an unusual experience and memorable race. Want to try? Google "Joshuhotakasan Skyview trail running". I started a 75k trail race from here, and took totally 16 hours to finish at Kawaba village. The race includes several mountains including Mt. Hotaka, one of the best 100 mountains in Japan, and four ski slopes up and down :o English guidelines and Facebook Q&A available, so much better for international people. Note that you should follow the regulations strictly if you join the race since there would be bears, bees, unusual weather, etc expected normally.

Good for beginners, not a lot of snow this season so from the top of the mountain was pretty iciy. Great place overall and a very famous Onsen nearby.

Excellent place of all type skiers and skaters. Restaurant had many options. Many ski courses with different steep angles ate there. 8.00 to 4.00 pm. Time just flies

A place to snow gazing, ski and snowboarding that is affordable to catch if you live near or in Tokyo. It has several choices of tracks ranging from beginner to advance. They also provide rental gear and a food court with many food and beverages, and some souvenirs too.

Sparse.. Despite the heavy snow condition, we had great fun skiing. Curry rice served at the communal eatery was delicious..
