👍👍 Fab day out for train buffs and those that just like something a little different. The trains were very clean and the station perfectly manicured. All of the station volunteers are amazing. I wish I lived closer, would love to volunteer here. People often mention staff, train, station, Minehead, stations,

Wow, so picturesque. It actually is like travelling in time. The entire station feels like working museum. The staff are very friendly and watching the steam engines pull up, unhook, load with water and move about is mesmerising and you'll never forget it. Anyone can walk the platforms as they sort the tickets on the train. The train has ramps for prams, buggies and wheelchairs too.

I've been visiting the West Somerset since August 1998, and have enjoyed my visits. I mostly go up for the Diesel Hydraulics & the Sulzer Type Four Diesel ( which is currently away in Yorkshire on an extended loan). Such a Wonderful Railway to visit, with a high majority of the staff ( both Paid & Voluntary) being extremely welcoming. Looking forward to returning to the WSR, in August for atleast one day with one of the operational Hymeks. However I personally find the Minehead Start & finish a little bit of a drawback, particularly when I'm travelling up by car from West Cornwall.

This is one of the longer heritage railways, taking 1 hour 20mins from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. Stopping at multiple stations on the way. These stations are perfectly looked after. Great shops on the stations where you have a big choice of things to spend your money on. Toilets on all stations, must say a bit smelly though. Food at the station cafe in Minehead was very good,. Staff were friendly. Lovely day out. Highly recommended.

All very quaint and twee. The staff are wonderful. Attractive stations and handsome engines, but the carriages are grubby. The Day Rover ticket is overpriced as you can’t get your moneys worth as the timetable is limited. Last train leaving Minehead was at 4.30 on the day I travelled.

We took our son on his first steam railway trip here, absolutely amazing journey both ways. Stunning scenery along the way, and the staff really go the extra mile and are very knowledgeable and friendly. We even got a special ticket just for our son as a keepsake from a lovely lady who we didn't manage to get the name of. A wonderful experience and we will be returning I am certain!

Seriously disappointed with the Xmas lights. Organisation was poor, told to get here 45 minutes before ...didn't get on the train for over 90 minutes - great fun with a 3 year old. Then the lights were a disappointment with them very fair and few between. and on top of this we were put on a very noisy carriage where other passengers spent the journey screaming and lashing out (no fault of their own) but it scared the life out of the other children and made the whole journey a waste of time. Will make the additional journey next year to the much better one in Devon next year. Wasted such a large amount of money. Don't do it!

Wonderful day out for anyone with an interest in old trains, they have both steam and diesel trains, and for general commuting in the area around Minehead, rode the train to the end of the line and back again enjoying the beautiful scenery of the area. The staff were very helpful and welcoming making the experience even better.

👍👍 A beautiful flat sandy beach to visit anytime, but obviously nicer in the summer. The panoramic views are amazing from the walkway and sand along the coastline. The tide is usually out, which means plenty of room for walks and families to play or sunbathe. Family friendly with a row of shops, arcades...
