This place has been pretty ridiculous in some of the simplest ways for anyone traveling with a family. No microwave in the rooms. Won't let you use the one downstairs because it's for "their food." Gave an attitude when asking for coffee. No vending machines of any kind. You have to pay extra for parking. Asked for a couple plates from the restaurant manager and was told no. Guy is a right jerk. You pay top dollar for a room and they want you to pay for everything on top of it. I guess if you are looking to waste every penny it's a great option. No vents in the bathroom, very tiny trash cans, the "executive" room had two beds and an uncomfortable chair. You have to pay for internet. TV channel options are very limited. Tiny fridge. Phones didn't work in the room. There's a wine vault if you're an alcoholic I guess. Don't understand why anyone would choose this place.

I got a deal on a room, so I can’t complain to much. But if I would have paid sticker price I would have been really pissed. When I booked the room they showed me pictures of a really nice suit. In reality I got an incredibly cramped room with an old TV that only has basic cable. It’s called the “executive suite” and it doesn’t have any of the following: microwave, mini fridge, decent coffee maker, streaming services. This is advertised as a 4 star hotel. But the room was 3 stars at best. The food was good, but with drinks it was really expensive. From a value perspective I honestly might as well have stayed in a Holiday Inn or whatever. I’ve been to a few other hotels within walking distance of here. If your looking for nice hotel experience, I don’t think this is it.

For our first time visiting and staying overnight in Minneapolis, this was a great hotel choice. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the hotel was beautiful, and the staff was fantastic. It started upon check in, where we were greeted by friendly Shabraye. She was wonderful our whole weekend. So glad she was there!! We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the hotel bar on our last evening, where we had the pleasure of being served by Thomas and Nicky, both of whom were fantastic and friendly as well. The only feedback would be to perhaps lower the chlorine levels in the hot tub. My eyes were burning after a short visit, so we had to leave the pool area early. Price was very reasonable as well, especially for a holiday weekend. Would definitely stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay. One issue though. I was coming in from a long day and asked the Starbucks employees if there was a bathroom I could use. Then the lady with a beard assumed I wasn’t a guest, told me there wasn’t a bathroom I could use and told me there was one I could use two blocks away. Fire her.

The rooms were very basic but had everything we needed. Our window looked directly at another building (like literally a few feet away), so that was a bit of a bummer not being able to see anything or even receive daylight. The lobby was really neat. We had a drink at the bar. The service was great. The vault that was turned into a wine cellar is super cool. After seeing the main areas of the hotel, I was a little underwhelmed by the room. Parking was super easy and located in an adjoining ramp, which you can access through a small skyway.

Long line to check in. Beds were comfortable, couldn't hear my neighbors, good location, really tall shower head. Everything was fine until checking out. On the website, it says $51 perstay for valet. They tried charging me $51 for each night. I showed them how it says only per stay. It took awhile to convince them. Then they couldn't find my keys. Then a few minutes later told me that my car was ready and out front. I went out there and no car. I go back in and she says to follow her to the garage to get my car. The normal valet person is out sick and they are short staffed. I refused saying the purpose of valet is to not have to walk to the garage. She finally found a valet guy who did pull my car around. I will never use their valet again. I think they should have refunded me for that after all the troubles. My friend found a garage for $5 a night down the street. He was long gone way before I finally got my car.

Don’t typically give such low ratings but overall very disappointing experience here and wouldn’t recommend. A few pros and cons: Pros: Historic bank building, hotel lobby could be cool if it was put to better use, good downtown location (although immediate area around hotel felt a little dead). Cons: Gloomy room, passive hotel service, no local beers in lobby bar, and the biggest issue - no hot water for the shower. Apparently others have had similar experience here so should have paid attention to that. Prob time for overhaul here.

Impressive former bank building gives the lobby and restaurant an imposing feel. It looked clean and smelled good (what the hotel expect you to say). Rooms were quite good - we did not request a "city view" (extra charge) but you really do look across a few feet at other windows. If you want a view, request and pay for it. Beds were quite firm and not as good as other sub-brands in the Marriott Group. Wifi worked well. Staff dealt very efficiently with elevators not working for part of the weekend. There is reduced rate parking right across the street (be careful as the turns are tight - best not with a pickup or large SUV) and connected with a skywalk. This is a good downtown location for activities such as Target Center, the Armory but it is also not noisy.

One of the worst hotel experiences. Booked 2 nights through 3rd party which was prepaid and offered no refunds. We chose not to stay the first night and apparently since we didn’t call to tell them they canceled our room and still charged. We we arrived they said we had to pay again so basically we were charged 3 nights for one night stay. Long lines to check in and we were not able to check in on time. They held our luggage in another room and the content our our things were found scattered on the floor we we claimed our luggage. No hot water in the shower. They offered to accommodate us with a free breakfast and drink which they said they would deliver to our room but they never did. When I asked about the accommodations at check out the lady argued with me. They were not able to deliver food to the room for supper and stated they only had one more steak in the house. When we arrived they had valet signs up in front of the hotel but when we asked they said they were not offering valet for “some reason.” Lots of angry customers. One other group behind us in the check in line said they were on their 3rd attempt to check in. Would not recommend!

The lobby is beautiful. My room on the other hand was something else. Felt like I was walking into a horror movie. Bad vibes for sure. I didn't sleep, to scared to. The room was dark and creepy. I asked to move to another room and was told I couldn't. The next morning I spoke with a lovely lady that understood my feelings and was able to cancel my 2nd night there for me. It just felt dirty and off. The hotel did respond that they are planning some updates so that could be a wonderful thing.

I gotta say that the staff really make this hotel enjoyable. D'Angelo at the front desk was more than accommodating. We had a small mishap in the restaurant and he comped us a couple of drinks. I truly enjoyed the gym and hot tub. My only complaint the water takes a few minutes to hear up and the parking garage is a nightmare. I'm not kidding it will haunt your dreams.

Room was small. City view is not really great. Was unaware and never told that parking needed to be set up through the hotel. Left a couple times one day and it was $33 then $29 then again another $14 for one day. Was under the impression it would be $35 per day flat….. pool and hot tub have caulk coming off. AC didn’t work properly the first night….. Want a hot shower…… lol…. if you get any warm water you’re lucky…. Tub drain backs up, so a shower is a bath too I guess. Garbage cans are a rarity… and the one in the room is tiny. I had stayed at a Westin in Cincinnati and it was awesome. I expected the same from here but am utterly disappointed… I wish I could get reimbursed for the parking and refunded for this “room” I definitely would find a different place to stay next time. 🤦🏼‍♂️👎🏻

I stayed here in April for a work trip. They were extra accommodating to get me checked in earlier than the normal time. Everyone working was super friendly. And they even had free drinks after work a few times during the week. Rooms were a little small but to be expected downtown !

Very nice place, great room and friendly customer service both at check in and at the lounge! Very nice view of downtown, location was perfect for a conference I had a block away. Will be staying again!

The building itself was very beautiful and a great location but the little things stood out as eye sores. Staff carried. Parking was not clear and ended up being very expensive. I had to ask staff for the hotel wifi as the password was not in my itinerary or posted in my room. Lastly, a light fixture was exposed and loose in my bathroom. Dianna from the front desk was amazing in accommodating me on my second night. She was so thoughtful and considerate of my travels. Like all staff, she stood out in my experience.

The hotel is in a great location. It is about a 3 min walk from the train. You can access the skyway from the hotel which makes for a better walk because it rained both days I was there. They have a huge bar/restaurant area downstairs and a Starbucks upstairs. The building used to be a bank and they kept some of the original features, including the vault which was a nice touch. All of the staff was friendly. I saw a few reviews that mentioned the hot water not working properly but I didn’t have that issue. The water was good and hot just like I like it. I was graciously given an upgrade on my room which had a nice view of the city and skywalk. They have a nice workout area. The pool and hot tub had a metal bottom which kind of made it seem like you’d be swimming/soaking in a tin can. It was a decent sized pool I just didn’t care for the tin metal look. All in all it’s a great hotel and I’d recommend it.

Do not go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The service in the restaurant was the worst we have ever experienced. We were completely ignored by the restaurant staff for 20 minutes. We would have left, but it was raining hard. Finally the older waitress came over and asked if we had been helped and brought menus. The younger waitress took our order but did not put it in. The older waitress came to assist again after another 30 minute wait. When the food was finally served, eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast, it was inedible. The toast was not toasted, the hash browns were not crispy and swimming in oil, the eggs were undercooked and everything was cold. The bill came to $46, a complete ripoff! The restaurant manager was useless, walking around the restaurant not managing.

Location is great!!!! Our room was clean , bed and pillows so soooooo comfortable that I wanted to take that bed home with me, they have pretty awesome lounge zone , ladies at the front desk were super nice, helped us with everything we needed, very polite and super helpful. they have a pool and a hot tub that are great , clean and didn’t have any people the night we stayed , so we had them for ourselves. Overall very positive experience, for sure we will stay again !

The rooms are nice, pillows are dead inside. Have to fold two together to get comfortable. The thermostats can only go as low as 65. The toilet paper is 1ply only. We went number 2 in the lobby because I was sick of wiping with my hand. Nice people here but they’re penny pinching to be considered “top notch” in downtown Minneapolis.

Beautiful hotel with very friendly staff and delicious food. The only reason I’m taking away a star is because they don’t have microwaves in the rooms. At least they didn’t in my room. Other than that, I loved my stay here!

We checked in Nov 23rd and from the moment we arrived we got treated with top notch service. Everyone on the team at the Westin were a pleasure to deal with and very friendly and went above and beyond when asked. Rooms, pool, and gym all clean and couldn't ask for more from a hotel. Location was great to walk to the Vikes game. We'll definitely be back when we come back to Minneapolis.

The hotel and bar area was nice and clean. We were most excited for the hot tub but once turned on, it did not get warm at all. In fact, it was freezing. The shower water also took longer than expected to get warm. It was very cold and took about 6-8 minutes to get warm. Other than that, the staff was nice.

We got in from our evening flight around 9. The hotel was a short walk from public transportation. There was a long line at reception which was not ideal after traveling. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was pretty quiet. Our checkout was quick and efficient.

Booked a stay cation for the weekend for a comedy show. Extremely disappointed. Upon arrival in downtown Minneapolis, we were almost hit by an ambulance, not the hotels fault. But to park its either valet, or ramp 3 blocks away, so things like that are important when decidingc to book. you have to pull up to a corner and it's not clear where valet is. I waited for about ten minutes until I walked in and found the guy who informed me it was $50 overnight and threw the ticket at me. Didn't assist me or find a bell hop. I Grabbed our 3 bags and dragged them through the the snow. Was met by a very unhappy desk clerk, she was having trouble hearing me or hope to spell my name but wouldn't take my license. Didn't ask if we needed any help with the bags. The room is extremely small and like other reviews you can't open the door and move at the same time. The carpet has an odor and the bedding they sell as a benefit had a hole in it. The bed is up against the closet so it's hard to access and can't get suitcase in. We had expensive appetizers the drinks that took a long time and were underwhelming. Also only one outlet in the room is working and there's not many in the room to begin with. The room is blowing cold air and set at 78. I would not recommend. The lobby and bank vault are beautiful, but not worth the rest of the issues. This room is considered an upgraded room as well, I can't imagine a smaller one i can also see into the rooms across from me.

I feel like The Westin used to a nice hotel 10 years ago, but they haven't kept up the times. We mistakenly booked the least expensive room, and the view was quite literally facing another room that you could see into, so we had to keep our windows closed the whole time. Definitely pay the extra $20 for the street view. The design of the bathroom was just strange. The door pushed in and the shower door pushed out so they would hit each other, and if the door was open you couldn't get into the bathroom to the shower.. our toilet ran the whole time we were there, we told maintenance and that fixed it for about an hour, and then it ran again. The first night there are shower didn't get hot. We went in the hot tub once and I would call it a lukewarm tub, my husband wouldn't even get it. I still give it three stars because the room was clean, they had Starbucks coffee for the coffee machine, and they gave you a bottle of water (though only one so you had to ask for more). Also, the website advertised continental breakfast but keep in mind you have to pay for that, and that ranges $10-20. Overall it was fine but I probably won't stay there again.

I would not suggest this hotel. Here’s why: Starting with pros: 1- history is cool, it was a bank before so the furniture in the entrance, lobby, restaurant, is very unique. 2- having an inside pool and hot tub in winter on Minneapolis is definitely a plus but I think they could make the area look nicer and cozy for the price the guests pay. 3- Cons: 1- costumer service isn’t good enough as I expected. Could never get the right information about my breakfast or information about the skyway… 2- I found chips and a bottle under my bed 🙃 felt quite disgusted. 3- the size of the table and the couch in the restaurant is definitely not regular. I’d suggest sitting on a chair even if the couch looks more comfortable it won’t be anything like comfortable. 4- prices are not good for what you get. Marriot has better hotels.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean, the carpet was very outdated and need to be replaced asap. The room was spacious, bathroom was clean with a shower and bathtub. My kids loved the pool area. Food area was beautiful alot of lights and a bar in the middle. Scott at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Love that the parking garage was right across the street. My kids love Starbucks and their was one inside but sadly was closed during our stay. Fitness area was nice Loved all the mirrors. We will stay again, hopefully carpet will be replaced soon!

This place is amazing. The place has so much to take in as it used to be a historic bank. The bar area and dining room are in the former lobby with the kitchen behind the old teller windows. They have a great stainless steel pool and hot tub. The rooms are very nice and spacious. The location could be one of the best downtown Minneapolis, within walking distance of the light rail and us bank stadium.

Westin Minneapolis boasts of being a 4-star hotel but I do not know what decade the designation was awarded? They have zero customer service and care very little when you complain about dirty rooms, broken appliances, or poor communication about parking and no room service being available. We pulled up to the front door to have the bellman just look at us in our car. We had to walk in to the hotel and ask him for a luggage cart to help us with our luggage as he didn't think to bring the cart to us on his own. We unpacked our luggage and loaded the cart as he didn't want to break anything? He pushes the cart to the front desk and leaves without taking our bags to our room. We check in around 2:30 am and desk clerk tells us, we will be charged for the day before because technically he hasn't run the nights audit yet as he was waiting for late night check ins. This didn't make sense to me, but apparently it is the Westin's policy to charge for rooms prior to guests checking in. I mentioned I do not know when the Westin was awarded the 4-star designation because everything is rundown and dirty. It is not possible the rating was awarded anytime soon. The hotel is rundown, filthy, and even Goodwill would not take some of the furniture in what the called an upgraded room. The dust is so deep you can see it across the room on light fixtures, counters, and outlets. There was hair behind the bathroom door and the rest of the floor was not much better. The coffee pot wouldn't work and after several minutes trying to figure it out, realized it was unplugged. Plugged it in and it still didn't work. The floor lamp by the chair was also unplugged, but that didn't matter as it's switch was broken and you cannot turn it on anyway. Housekeeping who is very nice and trying very hard to make things better brought me a second coffee pot which after the first cup of coffee began shooting water out the sides on the second cup. My event begins in 3.5 hours, I do not have time or energy to go to another hotel. Heaven knows I want too. Needless to say my long worded review is not a good one. The excuse they to held firm to was all problems were because of covid. They are completely delusional and have no business claiming a 4-star rating! I am hungry, tired and angry to waste so much money, time, effort, and patience just before a corporate event that was intended to be a reward.

Nice hotel but customer service needs improvement. We called the phone line asking for a 2 bottle waters. Told us to go downstairs to the lobby, easy as it sounds. Get down there and according to the lobby guy, only when you ask before you check in. Wow! 200 a night and be dismissed. Not a 7/11 or gas station around. Very dismissed by the lobby guy too.

The building is beautiful inside and out. Very clean rooms, hallways and definitely feels like something special. Each concierge I spoke with was knowledgeable and polite. The restaurant staff was the glaring difference, and left much to be desired. On my multi-night stay, each experience with dining in or drinks was underwhelming to say the least. I expected a bit more class from the staff for a hotel of this caliber.

Absolutely loved our stay! Comfy rooms, awesome amenities, and GREAT service (Thomas, our bartender, is one of the best we’ve ever seen! I would give him a million stars if I could.) Friendly, personable staff that was even able to retrieve my phone after it fell down the elevator shaft! Looking forward to staying again!

Whenever I stay at “better” hotels, I always encounter racism. It’s tough to deal with so I usually go for the less expensive and the stays usually suck. So I decided to try the Westin. BEST service I’ve ever received from a higher end hotel. And the rooms were comfy. I’d definitely return and use this hotel again.

  • 3/5 Andrew J. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel overall is up to Westin standards, however, my room had a few issues. The toilet seat was disgusting. But not how you might think. It had a rough surface and a ton of permanent stains. So they probably cleaned it but you couldn't tell. The shower wand didn't work which was a bummer. The toilet was also clogged. I only stayed for one might so didn't bother complaining. They do NOT have room service. The customer service seems top notch and the hotel has some nice amenities like a restaurant in the lobby. I would probably stay here again but probably complain to management about the room next time.
