I had the Band put in me June 25/14. I've loss very little weight. As of today November 14/23. I have gained 60 pounds and have had a few blood clots from the surgery. Not to mention the loss of seventeen thousand dollars.

Só here’s my review . Before I paid them they were very proactive always emailing and calling . Once I paid them, they were not so much anymore... emails. During surgery everything went well, doctor Cobourn was very kind and from his part I have no complaints. Facility where I did the surgery they all were very good and professional . During my 1 night I had to sleep in there it was very good . Post surgery I only had one so far and I only saw dietitian and a nurse . Was expecting seeing the doctor but did not happen. Nursing team I emailed them twice with questions they just don’t respond . When I went in for my follow up according to nurse “she simply didn’t get my email “ once again I sent another question no answers . I feel like once you paid all costumer services just falls off from a cliff . That’s why I give a 2 star . Surgery was spectacular no complaints nor on doctor . But his staff i felt like I was left behind . Would I recommend the clinic? For doc and facility yes .

I absolutely adore Dr. Orzach. Very personable and caring. The Booking Team, Nurses and Dietitians are very responsive. The surgical team were very courteous and attentive. I had my Gastric Sleeve 5 days ago. So far so good. Emails are being responded to in a timely manner by Tina (nurse) and Ellen (dietitian) and I'm very grateful. This is a tool. Not a magic. From here onwards, the success of the process is all in my hand and I will not take this for granted. The best $19.500 investment! Thank you Dr. Orzach and the Team.

I am thrilled with my results with the vertical sleeve procedure , after doing much research the SmartShape facility came highly recommended. From the beginning of my journey with this team the front end staff receptionists , assistants and nutritionists were all so friendly and informative , and were able to complete all necessary documentation for me to have the procedure within 30 days. The doctors were always available for any questions I may have anxiously had . The Surgical unit is full of wonderful nurses who made the pain go away and aided my quick recovery within hours I was up and walking, with every request they were quick to the task , a private room with my own nurse I was pleasantly surprised. I want to thank Dr.Colburn for his guidance and patience with me, and Dr. Cyriac for the actual surgery , thank you so much for your wonderful work , you are the best!

I had the MiniGastric Bypass through here April 21st 2021. The care I have received has been great. Dr Cobourg has so much experience doing this surgery, that my surgery time was less than an hour. I have had excellent support from the nurses and dieticians and they are always only a phone call or email away. I love the fact the program promotes whole foods and a real life attitude it has made my journey easier for me. Only 2 months post op and I am down 39 pounds since surgery and 63 pounds since I began speaking to them at the end of March. I am thrilled and my primary care physician is also thrilled with my progress. I truly feel the smartshape saved my life. They certainly allowed me a new lease on life as I am doing things now I haven’t done in years. Thank you Smartshape

I was from Vancouver and Dr. C's patient #20 for the lap band. I paid $20K. I tried but there was no after care. I even went to a Dr. in Seattle for help in deflating the band so that I could drink water. It hurt when I ate so most of the time I was bringing it up or I was hungry, too afraid to eat. 5 yrs later I had moved back to Toronto and Dr. C invited a group of his patients to a meeting to let us know that the band doesn't work the way we thought it would. All I could think of was that, this isn't going to work and I had PAIDED $20,000 FOR A PRODUCT THAT WAS A SCAM! Why a review now after 20 yrs? Because, many years ago after losing only 40 lbs. and prolonged struggles, I deflated the band completely. I'm now looking into the gastric sleeve through OHIP. The struggle is real! I was being put aside by the Ontario public health Beriatric system so I decided to go the route of private health care and I found Smart Shape. They were very professional very helpful and made it very simple for me to understand the procedures and to have things done within a timely fashion. Although I had some issues in the beginning after my surgery and it was frustrating I had the support of their team I couldn’t be happier with the way that I was treated so much so that my fiancé will be going the same route. He has been going through the same difficulties I did with the public health care system for three years and they are still making it near impossible for him to acquire a surgery that could very well save his life so we have decided to make another big choice and go to private route once again . I trust that he will be cared for as well as if not better than I was by the team at Smart Shape. To me and so many more, the gratitude we hold in our hearts for everything that these people do at Smart Shape is overwhelming. I had the sleeve May 26 and the nurses and dieticians consistently followed up to see how I was healing and the progress i was making in each stage. Unfortunately, i had a narrowing of intestine below pouch and food wasn't passing through. Dr. C. was always around for consults and to hear from me via text or cell. He did arrange for me to have testing done and to have a procedure where they opened the narrowing with a balloon. Unfortunately, it closed up again and after violently throwing up for a few days we converted the sleeve to Mini Gastric Bypass on July 27. I feel so much better, Dr. C.saved me. The nurses and dieticians are still following up. The care and quick response time from the team was very appreciated. i am slowly on the mend and i know they are there for any hiccups along the way. Thank you Team!

Everyone in this clinic is amazing. It's clear they all genuinely care for their patients and offer nothing but positivity and support. Where BC medical has failed me these guys have succeeded beyond what I could imagine. Worth every penny

A wonderful group of people! I was interested in getting weight loss surgery and they gave me so much information. Dr. Orzech called and gave me detailed pros and cons of each surgery which I appreciated. They were honest with all the information and cost. Unfortunately I had to postpone going through with the surgery due to family issues, but when it calms down I'm coming back. A definite 5/5...can I give 6/5 stars actually?

I can’t say enough good things about the team at smart shape and clear point. The surgeon Dr. Orzech has been amazing and has checked up on me multiple times. He has great bedside manner. The nurses at clear point are friendly, caring and timely. I highly recommend them if are looking into weight loss surgery.

I sought out this clinic at the recommendation of my neurologist and it is the best decision I have ever made. My life has completely changed for the better. The team is extremely organized and provides thorough information every step of the way. My surgery was quick and easy; I was taken care of beautifully. Recovery was as expected, no problems, but I always had the support of the team. Frequent telephone checkups answer all my questions. I can’t recommend this clinic higher.

I would give zero stars if it were an option. I paid $20,000 to have revision gastric bypass. I had an original bypass 20 years ago, but over the years I put on 80 pounds. Being someone who always struggled to lose weight, and was now in menopause, I was eating 600 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week. Because of this I sought out revision, for the purpose of malabsorption. I explained my issues to Dr. Cobourn, and he advised I won't lose as much weight as my first surgery, but patients lose up to 80%. The morning of my surgery, he advised he will just be making my pouch smaller. I asked about malabsorption, and he said I should still have it from my surgery 20 years prior. So I had the surgery, followed the post-surgical diet, and didn't lose a pound. He then agreed to put me through another surgery, where he would remove some of my small intestine which would create malabsorption. After 4 months of not even losing a pound, I joined Dr. Bernstein, where I have lost a 10 pounds so far, but very slowly, considering how restrictive it is. So I am out $20,000 for surgery plus child care costs, as I am a single mom and needed to pay my son's nanny to stay and help me (my son was 2.5). I have since spoken to two OHIP doctors who said they would NEVER advise the revision Dr. Cobourn put my through, but rather a Duodenal Switch, which Dr. Cobourn doesn't do. He may know how to cut, but he obviously has no clue about obesity. When I asked about getting at least some of my money back, he said no, as I received two surgeries...two surgeries he should never have put me through. Do not go to SmartShape if you have had a previous Roux-en-Y surgery, you will be wasting your time.

I don’t really know if I can articulate this testimonial because I have so much to say. From my first call for my bariatric surgery, I was treated as if I was the only patient. The team is made up of an administrator, pre op nurses, dieticians, post op nurses, anesthesiologists, and a top notch surgeon. Quite frankly, therein lies the difference between public hospitals and private hospitals. I can’t thank the staff enough. Nothing was a problem! They are the crème de la crème. Dr. Cobourn performed a lapband procedure for me several years ago, and from the very beginning of my new journey with SmartShape Weight Loss Clinic in Mississauga, my experience was absolutely incredible! I was so nervous until I arrived at the clinic, from the moment I walked into the office, I was received with kindness and I immediately felt relaxed and at ease. After meeting with Dr. Cobourn, I knew that I made the right decision and I was in the perfect hands! Procedure went incredibly and my journey has been so Successful! The SmartShape team followed up with me on a regular basis, even during Covid-19. This past Friday, unfortunately, I was involved in a incident that caused my band to slip. I wasn’t sure what was happening to me, I was throwing up everything I ate, and in extreme pain. On Saturday evening I visited the Urgent Clinic in Brampton and that was a disaster, they knew nothing and I walked away. I was trying to be strong, and was waiting for the SmartShape Clinic to open, but I couldn’t, I went the the Emergency at Trillium in Mississauga. I arrived there 5am, I was in such poor condition, and was taken immediately to be cared for. Had a CT scan completed by 8am. I sent an email to the nurses at SmartShape with updates and few hours later, who do I see walking towards me, DR. COBOURN! He was compassionate, kind, patient, understanding and a force to be reckoned with. Dr. Cobourn took charge, and before I knew it, I had surgery and was ready to go home feeling no pain and on the mend! Even after years of the original surgery, Dr. Cobourn treated me as his # 1 patient. I could not be more thankful, grateful and blessed for having this incredible Physician and human being to treat me! Dr. Cobourn you truly are one of a kind!!

Dr. Cobourn and that clinic almost killed my mom September 26, 2022. Sent her to emergency with major complications ended up to the ICU on ventilator did 4 days still trying to recover. Michael Garron hospital saved her life. Do not go to this clinic.

I'm too disappointed with your doctor and your service I did the surgery for mini gastric bypass with Dr Coburn I told him I'm taking depression and ocd pills and they are the reason of gaining weight he told me don't worry you will loose weight I did the surgery I lost 10 killos after one month then I started to gain weight again I called your company many times even I asked them for my surgery report or pay me back my 19000 dollar but no body send me the report I do believe that the surgery failed and not success there is a mistake done by Dr Coburn may be he did no reduce the size of my stomach to the optimum size this is why after one month I gain weight again now my weight is more that that when I did the surgery it was 139 killos and now 144 kilos so frustrated and unpleased because unprofessional service that you provide and even you did not give my money back even thought I called many times that time Regards, Amir
