One of the best hikes and views I've had. Quick recommendations if you are going to fuego volcano after: 1. Take cash. And take extra bc probably someone will not take theirs and it will be easier if someone lends the money that to convince guides that they will pay at their retur to antigua. 2. Take a good kn95 covid mask. The road there is full of ash/dust/dirt and it's super uncomfortable to walk while inhaling that. 3. The usual, take many layers for the freezing cold at the top. (but do not wear them while hiking. Terrible mistake bc you will sweat and then, when you stop, the sweat gets super cold.) 4. If you have it, take a small tripod for pictures. The cold makes you shiver and makes it hard to take a proper picture.

One of Guatemalas most beautiful volcanoes. The hike up to Acatenango is gruesome but not impossible. I’d highly recommend people to do this if you’re visiting Guatemala. It’s definitely a memorable experience. Just amazing!

Wow, this was a once in a lifetime hike up an amazing volcano to see some amazing views. We saw Pacaya in the background with lava flow and Fuego explosions all night with lava flow. We hiked overnight started at 10:30 p.m., our tour guide made a fire at the camping area and we stayed warm for 2 hours. Then we hiked to the top for sunrise. We were very cold and it was very windy. The hike was extremely tough, we walked a total of 14 mi (22.5 km) and finished at 9am. Highly recommend it, but the most important thing is to have something to keep your hands and toes warm!

We hiked through Wicho & Charlie. It was an amazing experience, but one of (if not THE) hardest things I've done. Look at the weather report, but prepared, and don't underestimate this hike.

God this was a tough hike but the views up top were truly beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Volcan de Fuego erupt although it was so active the night before. Overall, great experience but incredibly challenging.

A once in a lifetime experience. If you can make it to the top. Do it for either sunset or sunrise.

Did the hike to the volcano, one of the hardest in my life but I was worth it. Stayed at base camp for the night. See the volcano erupted so many times, incredible views. I even proposed there 🤩🤩

I went up during a storm and it was a little rough. The clouds only parted enough for us to see the volcano explode twice. That was totally awesome when it happened though. I went with guilmer and soy and they did a wonderful job. Food was great and they even gave us some nice extras like hot chocolate made from chocolate bars. Would definitely go with them again. Guides didn't speak the best English but very friendly and some of the group spoke spanish which they translated for us gringos. The hike to the summit was a little anticlimactic. Gale force winds with no explosion. You couldn't peak over and watch the sun rise with out freezing your ass off. If it would of exploded while we were at the top it would of totally been worth it. The only thing I didn't like was the organization of everyone when we were summiting at 3 in the morning. Probably 150 people doing it at once all stuck in a line on a small path. Everybody trying to pass everybody. It's dark so easy to get separated from your group. The only suggestion for guilmer and soy is somehow try to make that a little more organized. Also they do have a slight trash problem around the base camps. Maybe try to use less disposable plates? Hike is super hard and you will get very dirty and everything you take will smell like smoke etc. I stunk up my dorm room on my arrival back. Glad it's over but definitely glad a did it.

A very challenging climb but worth every step. Definitely doable solo, but recommended with a guide of doing an overnight as the path to the summit in the morning is difficult amazing experience

The path up the volcano is in good shape but it needs to be dry when you hike up. For tourist I do not recommend to do this without a guide. There are 7 ways up the volcano, not every path is usable every day. In the weekend it tends to be a bit more busy. The view is weather dependent, it you have a clear day it amazing to see. The hike up is sometimes pretty steep so bit of proper condition is recommended. Downhill is easier but intense on your knees. A walking pole/stick is a blessing, especially when walking down.

Amazon experience. The spot is the best thing that you would have in Guatemala travel.
