Victoria Island (VI) is an affluent area that encompasses a former island of the same name neighboring Lagos Island, Ikoyi and the Lekki Peninsula by the Lagos Lagoon. It is the main business and financial center of Lagos State, Nigeria. Victoria Island is one of the most exclusive and expensive areas to reside in Lagos. The town and island lie within the boundaries of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

It serves as a home for the rich and upper class citizens of Lagos State, and a place where almost every firm, banks and company in Nigeria has their headquarters situated, one one of the most beautiful places in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole with lots of skyscrapers and high rise buildings, so many attractions to behold and night times are also beautiful

Victoria island is one of the most happening places in the islands of Lagos. Restaurant, bar, 5 Star hotels, movie theater, food court, offices, supermarkets, lagoon view what else do we want from this place? Traffic can be a little bit tough during weekdays but weekends are quite smooth in terms of commuting. Love the place always.

The main business Centre of Lagos state. Most of the views is know to be very attractive on camera. If you ever wonder why Directors use the location so often. I have shot 2 music video on the Island and the visual was stunning. Also known as Marina, busy Lagos Island draws crowds to Onikan Stadium, hosting concerts and soccer matches, and Freedom Park, a former prison complex now home to African music festivals and art exhibitions. Long-standing Idumota Market offers clothing and fabrics, while street-food stalls sell suya, bole, and fried yam and plantains. The landmark Tafawa Balewa Square is dotted with war memorials and monuments.

Easy movement once you know your route, your journey gets shortened 😁. Else you’re about to get on an Israelite journey in unwanted traffic. The alarm is a reminder to always prepare for your emergency response wherever you find yourself.

Beautiful place with one of the best night life in the continent. Pretty nice architectural design of buildings and streets. Nice place to visit in general, but the government and private sector must invest more in road infrastructure and drainages although the area has one of the country's lowest points geographically.

V.I is somehow becoming the new heartbeat if Lagos with everything suddenly commercialized ... Shops, hospitals, schools clubs etc within grasp.. However it would be great if the locale doesn't lose its glamour to huge influx of businesses

Great place to be. I was suprised that the cost of some food was same as in other parts of the country. To get an accommodation here is high. Probably it is meant for VIPs and celebrities. This place has lots of job opportunities. Employers are looking for people

(Translated by Google) Victoria Island was originally entirely surrounded by water. It was bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, the mouth of the Lagos (lagoon) in the west, the Five Cowrie Creek to the north, and swamps to the east. The colonial government initiated the filling process in the eastern swamps to reduce mosquito breeding areas. This created a land bridge between Victoria Island and Lekki Peninsula ending its existence as a real island. After the independence that culminated with the construction of a road connecting Victoria Island to Epe, this activity, together with the rapid commercialization of Victoria Island, served to stimulate residential development along the Lekki-Epe corridor, starting with Lekki. The land bridge area, made up of the ex-pantanal, became a large slum called Vila Maroko that housed many of the new migrants to the state of Lagos. Island residents complained of this problem, prompting the state's military governor, Raji Rasaki, to forcibly remove residents on July 14, 1990, resulting in several injuries. Governor Rasaki and his armed security force evicted some 300,000 residents, some of whom had the legal title to their property. This new area established after the evictions was called "Victoria Island Annex". Originally designated a high-end residential area, the lack of infrastructure and overcrowding in the former business district on the island of Lagos and negligent zoning on Victoria Island has led to a mass migration of companies over the past twenty-five years . The island has continued to develop rapidly and, together with Ikoyi, is a favorite place for Nigerians and foreigners to live and play. However, the influx of banks and other commercial ventures has changed the island's previously serene atmosphere. Former residents complain about the increased traffic and influx of street traders who cater to bank employees and local businessmen. But independently I love Nigeria, their culture is wonderful, the people.
