An absolutely amazing place to visit. When you make the last turn in the small village of Gavarnie and are presented with the view of the Cirque, it simply overwhelms you. The hike to the waterfall is worth taking, but trail shoes is a good idea 😁 The village has limited accommodations, so be sure to book in advance

An amazing place! a mercy of Mother Nature. a must-visit place for those who love sightseeing. Cascada de Gavarnie is known as the highest waterfall (with 422m) in France. This place is really worth for camping and hiking or even making a trail. End of the forest trail you will see the waterfall. No ticket is required.

An awe inspiring marvel of nature. The walk from the car park to the cirque is about 45 minutes. Good choice of places to eat & drink at the start of the walk. Avoid the crowds in summer by going early morning or late afternoon. Generally less busy ( and more beautiful) in Autumn.

Fabulous natural treasure. There's crowds during the day so if you want to avoid people or have photos without tourists I recommend walking the cirque early morning or late in the afternoon. The walk takes roughly three hours. The waterfalls and snow piles look impressive and on a clear day the size of the mountain walls behind the Hotel de Cirque make you feel tiny and respectful.

Strongly recommend to give a visit. But the last 100m can be challenging because rock on the slope keeps sliding when you step on it.

We recently stayed in Lourdes and decided to make a day trip into the Pyrenees National Park, starting our day with a stop at mountain village of Gavarnie to take the 3 hour point-to-point hike into the natural amphitheatre area known as Cirque de Gavarnie. This is a remarkable area to visit and see. The trail is just over 4km and takes around 90 minutes to reach the iconic Hôtel du Cirque et de la Cascade, where the amphitheatre opens up and provides remarkable views. The trail continues onward all the way to the waterfalls. We didn't have time to hike this far and had to turn back after spending some time at the Hôtel du Cirque et de la Cascade viewpoint. Returning back to the village, there are more impressive views throughout the beautiful valley in between.

Excellent views, great easy climb and exquisite food at the bottom of the track. But a beer with views to the waterfall is a must

👍👍 Impressive Dam. After you drive north from Gavarnie on D-921, take right on to D-922 and turn right at D-176. The road is super narrow... and the steep mountain slopes are covered with rocks from many sizes... Up at the Dam was very windy and cold (June 2016). The Lake and the Dam are worth driving...
