Great place, a bit out of the vennbahn but monschau is really worth the detour. Watch out there is another jugendherberge also in Monschau. The service is great, the breakfast is a pleasant surprise with cheeses, hams, egg, fruits, vegetables,... It is not easy to find. You have to enter the Schloss and continue up after the entrance on. a Cobblestone street until a dead end.

Stayed at a family apartment, nr. 3. Great views from all windows. Spacious, warm and comfortable. Loved the cosy split-level kitchen/sitting area. Good beds. Everything was quite clean, though the toilet seat should be changed (old stains underneath). Kitchen has 2 hot plates. There are 2 cooking pots, one misses a lid and the little non-stick frying pan should definately be changed. We missed a saucepan, a teapot and big coffee/tea mugs. For the rest, the kitchen was rather complete. There were plenty of little cups, cutlery, glasses, plates and bowls in all sizes. A bottle of dishwashing liquid, a kitchen towel and coffee filters were also present. Would definately stay again. Staff were very friendly too.

We stayed in one of the holiday flats in a historic building that is part of the Monschau Castle complex. It's on top of the hill overlooking the old town so the views are stunning. The flat is comfortable, roomy and contains all you need for a few days. The staff are very helpful and friendly. A few things you should know: - parking is limited and on steep slopes - floorboards are extremely creaky; at night it's as if the people upstairs are walking right past your bed; so try to get a top floor flat or bring earplugs - if you're not too mobile, be aware that it's a loooong climb back to your flat after having dinner in the town - there is no wifi (the free wifi from the town doesn't reach) Having said all that, we will definitely go back because the price is excellent for what you get. Most of all, staying in the Burg is a truly magical experience.

Beautiful place to stay. This is an old castle and therefore a special place to stay! The rooms are nice and clean. The personal is very friendly. The breakfast was good. The city center is easy to reach but a lot of stairs to go there because the castle is on a hill, consider this if you are handicapped.

Had a great stay, the only issue was the complete lack of doors on the showers. As in, anyone who walked into the bathroom area while i was showering could see all there was to see with little to no effort. Otherwise, great place, would recommend

Good vista but boring. Nothing to see. Only one of the towers is open to the public.

Great for families and the kids but the village itself doesn't have many fun activities other than nearby outside climbs to an old fort.

Beautiful and serene! Went in Fall on a sunny day and the scenery from the top was brilliant!
