Each of the tapas dishes tasted wonderful and were beautifully presented. The service was great and the place had a good vibe from the lunch time crowd and the shelves of wine. The tented area out the back is a surprise and provides a brighter area with ample seating for larger groups.

It was a very good experience. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. Staff - Heidi very attentive and sweet, also very knowledgeable that were given very good recommendations. We loved all the food that we ordered. The sangria were nice too . But definitely not the best we had. However this restaurant still get 5 stars with the food and service .

Such flavoursome dishes, authentic and delectable. Everything we ordered was tasty, the atmosphere was vibrant and the service was so friendly. The meats were all cooked perfectly yet tender, seasoned well and nothing was overpowering. A happy repeat diner, and will come back again.

Great selection of tapas (and an almost intimidating selection of wines). The options provided were classic in flavour yet with a modern feel. The iberico was top-notch, and loved the tender octopus. The lamb special was something else, a cross between a sausage roll and classic braised lamb, with a delicate buttery foam-dressing. Thanks for the fine meal and service, Balcon!

Beautiful restaurant in Sydney offering elevated Spanish food. The decor, ambiance and friendliness of staff were great. The wine list was extremely impressive, with so much detail about the wines and it’s regions. The food was excellent and well priced. We had several “Para Picar”, Entrees, Cheeses and Charcuterie. From all the dishes the highlight was the Grilled WA Octopus. The service could be much improved, it felt a bit too casual for a restaurant like this. This is why I have given this restaurant a 4/5.

Hubby treated me to this amazing lunch for my birthday. The octopus was delicious. Cooked just right and was a good portion. Another favorite of mine was the mushroom carpaccio. That was divine! Thank you for an amazing experience.

These are special times and when the chance to dine with my two favourite people in the world at a top end restaurant in Sydney arrived, I jumped at it. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel alive by the kindness of the wait staff and even though they all wore face masks I could feel their happy smiles. The facade of Balcon, the window that spills on to Castlereagh Street is homage to wine cellar and exposed brick. The restaurant itself extends lengthwise for several tables and has a view of the floors below, something like a mezzanine. We had the usual tapas fair - olives, anchovies, potatoes, bread - all done in that masterful Spanish way. Small plates of food, plentiful glasses of Sangria, red and white (liked the white but preferred the red) all very nice, all very easy. We even indulged in some steak. Rare. Salt crusted. Fantastic. What an indulgence! What a taste! It was K's birthday so they bought out the delicious doughnuts at the end with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce, as befits all such celebrations! Organise this through the website when you book. Or don't. Just go!

Great place for Spanish food! Generous portions without compromising on quality. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I will be back soon.

Really enjoyed the dinner here, with every dish full of flavour and larger portion sides than usual. Service was attentive and efficient and the ambiance is great. Will certainly come back to try more. Highlight was the mushroom caparccio!

Had dinner here on 4 Nov 2022, had an amazing time and thank you to our waiter Benson on recommending us dishes as well as drinks. Ordered a bit of everything and shared, can’t remember all the names, but food was amazing and will come back again. Not usually a fan of croquettes but this one just melted in your mouth 🤤 Jamon iberico is must try - buttery smooth

I celebrated my birthday here at lunch, and I found this restaurant to be excellent for this occasion. The drinks were wonderful (I recommend the rosé sangria), along with the Spanish red wine that our waiter selected for us. The food was excellent, and reflected Spanish cuisine very well. The waiter we had today was incredibly patient, friendly and engaging. For dessert, we even got a surprise free dessert wine (I think a port or tawny?) to pair with the mini donuts. Even better, they even prepared a lit candle for me, wrote Happy Birthday immaculately on our dessert plate with chocolate sauce, and even sang me the Happy Birthday song! I was impressed with how the staff went above and beyond to make my experience exceptional, and so I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Spanish cuisine in Sydney. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

My friend and I had such a perfect dinner experience here on a Friday night. We had the mushroom, king fish, octopus, steak, etc. The service we received was one of the best I have had over the past few years and it definitely made the highlight of the night. The owner Frank offered absolutely fantastic recommendations on the food and wine and has always been attentive and friendly. We loved Frank! Georgia also was an amazing staff who helped the overall experience. Will definitely come back for another visit some time soon. Thank you Balcon team!

Great service and I enjoy my meal here. The only problem is the dishes are a bit too salty tho. The waitress is super friendly. Restroom is downstairs in a bar which is kinda cool.

After the place I originally wanted to go to for a birthday celebration was unavailable, I discovered this place via Google. I’m happy the other place fell through now as Balcon is a hidden gem on the Wynyard side of the CBD. All the staff were welcoming and our waiter for the evening was exceptional - great advice for food pairings and appetisers, which made the meal very cohesive from start to finish. No pressure, no upselling. As this was a birthday occasion, I quietly slipped away after mains to ask if there was even the possibility of a candle on the cake - not only did they deliver they wrote a lovely message on the plate to, and even a humble rendition of “happy birthday.” Can’t wait to come back again for a special occasion

The service was amazing! Steven looked after us well. While some recommendations didn't quite hit the mark, we enjoyed most dishes, especially the lamb shank and the bunuelo 👌. Would gladly come again.

I had a very quick dinner served by friendly and efficient wait staff. The highlight of the meal was the octopus - that ajada oil was so flavoursome and appetising! The flan had some distinctive bitterness from the burnt caramel, which balanced out the sweetness and added depth to the dish.

A tasty and reliable contemporary Spanish restaurant. Great location for team lunches (which I have enjoyed on multiple locations). We have enjoyed the banquet menu on a number of occasions and we are never bored of the excellent quality and tasty food. And the service is just lovely! Not overwhelming but we’re never found wanted for anything as someone always appeared. Fantastic location for a simple modern Spanish lunch. Also has a great little semi private space for team lunches!

Great atmosphere and service. The service was amazing, super accomodating, fun and filled with energy. We had a total blast celebrating a friends birthday. Would definitely return with a smaller group to try another menu/order from a la carte. Very pleasant service and atmosphere especially early in the evening before it gets a bit busier. Food is above average but unfortunately did not wow. This in itself is not a bad thing and overall Balcon is a fantastic location for a dinner or lunch with a feeling of class but still in a casual setting.

Food was fantastic. Entrees of kingfish, peppers and mushrooms were unique and flavoursome. Pork chop with jus was the stand out for me. Service was just ok. Our waiter had no clue about the food ingredients and could not answer basic questions about what each dish was (some dishes have spanish naming making it difficult to know what it consists of). He at least made the effort to ask the chef but I would expect the wait staff to have basic knowledge of the food they are serving. Overall a pleasant night out.

The food here is fantastic. Meats are cooked and seasoned to perfection. Sauces elevate the show to bold new heights and the staff are attentive and engaging. My favourite was the octopus and potato dish as well as the doughnut. Everything we tried was a winner.

Had a fantastic meal here on Friday for five of us. All of the food was delicious and had decent portion sizes. I'd recommend ordering as though it's tapas - we made the mistake of ordering as though we had a main each and it was too much food. That cabbage salad was absolutely incredible! They also have a happy hour deal here which was great. The Sangria was awesome!

The service was outstanding. So very refreshing to have such professional staff. The wine list is to die for. Food was delicious and the portions perfect. Make sure you get dessert. 😀 thanks for a great night we will be back.
