Another first for my month-long stay in The Gump. The portions are sufficient and everything tasted as if made with fresh ingredients. The home fries were the stars of the show and I recommend offering a Cajun Omelette... Western with the stew-textured Gumbo spooned over... good coffee and orange juice. We waited more than we ate though. Waited for menus (eventually taken from other tables), waited for coffee creamer (asked twice, got some from other tables), waited for silverware (coffee cooled), waited for food (to be fair, they were at about 75%), waited for toast (never came), waited for coffee refills (caught another server, meal almost finished), waited to see if we would be offered any dessert or anything else (it is a bakery), waited for a to-go box (asked twice, got it myself). The check was dropped off with the food... no wait... and that was our server's last stop. Having interacted with all three, wait staff is very nice and reasonably responsive but appear a bit forgetful. Energetic and efficient service would make this place great. All said, we did have plenty time to chat and food was good, but service was an uninspiring drag on the experience. #FirstAndLast

The real star of this restaurant is the bakery. The baked goods are amazing. We ate breakfast here for the first time recently. We both got Western omelettes. I felt my omelette was a bit undercooked and had weird vegetables in it. I expected onions, green peppers and maybe mushrooms. There were orange peppers, red peppers and not much cheese instead. The cheese grits were good and the homemade white bread was terrific. Our waitress was the sweetest, kindest young lady, and very efficient, even though she was basically running the restaurant alone. The cook appeared to berate her, where we could hear, for allowing us to substitute the cheese in our omelettes. Maybe I heard wrong, but she definitely was arguing with our poor waitress. They have an extensive lunch menu I'm looking forward to trying.

We went for brunch because Shashy's was the top hit on Google for brunch in Montgomery. Unbeknownst to us they only do breakfast which ends promptly at 1030, we arrived at 1045. Our party of 8 were the only ones in the restaurant with the exception of one couple finishing up their breakfast. All of us ordered sandwiches as we were a little short on time and figured this would be simple for the kitchen. We didn't get our food until after 1130. 3 of our orders were incorrect, but they happily and quickly corrected the issues. The food was good, and the wait staff was very nice. But if you're going there for a quick bite, it's not going to happen (unless they read this review and make some small changes) they did have a sign for "hiring a dish washer" so I'm assuming they're short staffed by 1 in the kitchen. It wasn't exceptional, but we did not try their bakery which did look exceptional. Maybe visit for dessert and coffee for a better experience.

Fresh food and good service. The house potato fries are a must try. You get vegan and vegetarian options here. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. Their menu is subjective.

Awesome customer service. Food is very good moderate cost. We had house salad with chicken. Gumbo and a cheeseburger.

I've honestly never been, and was I delightfully surprised. I had the fried quail, with cheese grits and it was perfect for a light Saturday brunch. Also has a nice bloody Mary, it was well made, but not anything super special, but it really doesn't have to be. Great service, with friendly helpful staff, and I hope you get the chance to visit. I've always thought the deli itself was so overgrown feeling outside that it can be difficult to even see is location if you didn't know it existed.

Boutique cafe in the middle of Montgomery. Quaint dining experience. The menu is brief but well thought out. We tried a deconstructed western omelet made with egg whites. The eggs Benedict with a side of pancake. The grits were creamy. The food was tasty and portioned appropriately.

Really good bakery that has standard breakfast fare as well as some surprise specials. The corned beef Benedict was a bit salty and the poached egg was over cooked. Service was slow. I’d give it another try and hope for the best though.

No idea why rating is so high. Maybe we hit on an off day. Cheese grits were REALLY salty. Western omelet was very watery from veggies, sweating rather than sautéing causes this. Toast hard? How? And seriously, what sausage brand? It tastes like Chloraseptic. I'm sorry owners. Came here because the menu was a great concept, but the execution today was way off.

Nice staff. Breakfast was what you'd expect from a home kitchen. Not bad. Would return for simple breakfast!

Great food, great service! Must stop place!! It's now a required stop for us when we pass by headed to vacation, and we've lived all the food we've gotten there(including desserts to go). Just wish we lived closer to it.

Not clean. Water tasted like tea, the salt shakers didn't work, and dust coated the light fixtures. Food was good but nothing to write home about. I won't be going back.

This is a great place and a must stop for breakfast in Montgomery. The beef tenderloin Benedict was perfect! I don't like eggs Benedict ands this dish was delicious. My kids and wife loved their meals. As a breakfast appetizer get their homemade cinnamon rolls.

First time eating here. Enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger I had at lunch. Good prices and excellent service with very little wait time between ordering and food delivery. It will be a regular stop for me.

Great service and really good food. We went there on a whim for lunch and we're very pleased. The menu isn't extensive but what they have works. We had crab and shrimp soup, the philly and a chicken salad and all hit the spot. They even have cookies and deserts behind the counter that we couldn't pass up!

My husband and I ate here for the first time this morning. We realized that there was only one waitress working but this did not impact our meal at all. In fact, she was a phenomenal server. The food was amazing. Best eggs benedict I've ever had. While the staff may have been minimal, they were so kind and welcoming that we will be going back again and again.
