Church founded in the 5th century, dedicated to Saint Eucaire, Bishop of Trèves in the 3rd century. Rebuilt in the 12th and 14th centuries, it shows the transition from Romanesque to flamboyant Gothic. Its massive pillars and stained glass windows inside are worth highlighting. The 12th century bell tower is the oldest in Metz.

The Saint-Eucaire church was built between the 12th and 14th centuries on the site of a previous church of this name, mentioned for the first time in 944. Its 12th century bell tower is undoubtedly the oldest in the city . Massive and square in appearance, it is pierced with Romanesque openings on each of its sides.

Cute tiny church with no visitors. We were the only people there and that was spiritual.

(Translated by Google) I loved the visit to the Sainte-Eucaire church in Metz. It is more modest in appearance than the Saint-Martin church, but it has a nave dating from the 14th century and vaults from the 15th century! Outside, the bell tower, square, pierced, a vestige of the first church, dates all the same from the 12th century. To continue our sightseeing tour of Metz, we can now head to the Saint-Maximin church, or the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church built in the 18th century, a former Jesuit chapel. You can also go and see the Sainte-Ségolène church, which dates back to before the 10th century! You have to see the crypt there... Good visit of Metz and its surroundings. Please, if possible, "put a like or useful" to encourage me in my approach. Thank you. Best regards. Eric Tison F-57 Mosel. Merci. Best regards. Eric Tison F-57 Moselle.

Small church a little removed from the city center with some medieval murals that need to be restored, but it looks very neglected.

The Saint-Eucaire church, begun in the 5th century and withstood the testof time, though the church got repaired and added to throughout the ages. For instance, the beautiful stained glass is from mid 19th century. The church has one of the relics of Saint Blaise brought back by the Crusaders. Since 1552, it has been the seat of the brotherhood of Saint-Blaise. Every year a pilgrimage to Saint Blaise takes place there. Tradition has it that, on every February 3rd, people come to have brioche buns marked reminding them of the saint's martyrdom and obtain healing or protection against sore throats. Saint Blaise has been relied upon as a healer of sore throats ever since he saved a young boy choking on a fishbone. The church itself is very peaceful and contains some murals that are being restored.

A church to absolutely visit if you like the Gothic style. The oldest church in Metz existed well before the construction of the Cathedral. Happy random discovery of a street. It is located on the outskirts of the historic center towards the German Gate and therefore does not have the honor of official guides which is a shame because it is surely the most beautiful church in Metz with the Cathedral, of course.

(Translated by Google) Magnificent little church in the center of the German quarter. The organ is splendid there and, if you have the chance to visit this place of worship during a rehearsal, the sound fills the entire place and carries you with strong emotions. Personally, I am an atheist and this place calms me down (Original) Magnifique petite église au centre du quartier des Allemands.

Visited somewhat by chance on the way to the German Gate and the rampart promenade, coming from the historic center and the splendid Cour d'Or museum, a stone's throw from the cathedral. It would have been preferable to reverse the order, the stained glass windows and the general architecture obviously not being comparable despite the repairs already undertaken. The wall paintings (Dormition of the Virgin) were still being restored when we visited in mid-January but should soon have regained all their splendor - for the St Blaise pilgrimage on February 3? A pleasant experience before ending our visit to old Metz with its very close St Maximin.
