Worth trying. Dedicated grilled chicken establishment, fantastic fries and portion for the price. Great value. Chicken is tender and juicy, sauce is flavourful though I wish they give you some more on the side to dip. Half chicken portion is large, lots of fries, small salad. Recommend getting additional salad if you like salad. Not a lot of seating inside, many do take out. Also sell some pastries too

This is the best Portuguese grilled chicken compared to other Portuguese grilles chicken. When you are in Montreal, you must try this. The salad was also yummy, the grilled chicken was also taste good. We bought the breast chicken for $16, and they also have thigh chicken, half chicken or whole chicken. I really recommended for people to try it.... Hhmmm... Yummy... The place is not big, but they have some table for dining in.

An amazing place, a fast, efficient and quite friendly service. The food is absolutely delicious. It's by far, the best Portuguese chicken restaurant in Montreal. The poutine was unique with TONS of chicken pieces and chorizos. The place is small, well decorated and it's always packed with tourists and locals. The food is affordable and tasty, a must if you ever visit the city.

Quite good! I came here for their signature spicy Portuguese grilled chicken and it was delicious and reasonably priced. One whole chicken (no sides or drinks) cost $17 before tax. The dark meat was so juicy and tender. However the white meat was a bit dry. The flavours seem to be mostly comprised of paprika, cayenne, and a hefty amount of salt, so I wouldn't eat this every day. The Portugese egg tart was also heavenly! Worth stopping by!

First time trying this place and I was really impressed. Super flavourful and moist chicken, delicious spicy fries and amazing rice made it a meal to remember. If they only had those Portugese style round potatoes would be next level. The salad was fresh and the hot sauce was amazing. The dessert rack looked awesome too and the custard tarts were the best I’ve tried anywhere as they got the shell and custard recipe down to a T. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone as I’m sure to come back here again when I visit 👍🏼

My friend recommended this place to me and said this was the best poutine he’s ever had. So I figured I’d try it out, and man, am I impressed. There were lots of friendly staff, the prices were great and the portions were huge. They were extremely generous with the amount of chicken on the poutine. Would highly recommend.

This poutine was next level! Aside from chips, gravy and cheese curds, they also top it with Portuguese rotisserie chicken and sausages. The portion was gigantic but I couldn’t stop eating. I ordered a single Portuguese egg tart and I destroyed it in one bite.

This is my go-to place every time when I visit Montreal! The portion is large with reasonable price. I like their chicken & salad set - chicken is juicy and tender, and salad also provides some freshness. The calamari entree is also a must try! The restaurant is always very popular and crowed, and there are not many seats for dine-in. Based on our experience, dinner time is always very crowed and hard to find a seat, but lunch time in weekdays would be a better time to visit. Overall, highly recommend this lovely restaurant!

The poutine was simply amazing, with a magical taste that's hard to forget. I would recommend getting a medium as the large portion is huge, however I enjoyed the leftover next day and trust me it tasted great as well. This place has a long lineup and I had to wait 30-minutes but it was well worth it. The staff were incredibly helpful and made the wait more bearable. Overall, if you're looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, the medium poutine with chicken and sausage is definitely worth a try. Chicken and sausages are grilled in charcoal, which gives it a smokey flavour. ❤️

God, this place was so good. It took me a wee while to figure out what to order, but that's the thing - everything looked fantastic. I got the half chicken and the fries. The portion was massive and I could've easily gotten two meals out of it. Go with someone or when you're just the right amount of hungry (or both). Stunning good, wicked flavours, and hearty portions - just go, friend. You don't need to think this through.

The potion of poutine is super large and fulfill with cheese and chicken. It tastes super good. Salad sauce is just so so. Grilled chicken tastes wonderful , especially the crispy skin but the french fries tastes too salty. The downside is that it takes 15-20 mins to wait and order food. The seat is super limited so mostly people take out. Food choices are limited and not variable comparing to the near same restaurant. Price is affordable. However definitely recommend to try once

🍽Food: 5/5 📍Place: 3/5 🤵Service: 5/5 💵Price: 5/5 This is the best Portuguese rotisserie in Montréal. I have been going there for years and have never been disappointed. The only downside is that most of the time there are no seats to sit inside, but you can always take-out.

Delicious food. It's a pretty fast paced place- We barely had time to look at the menu prior to ordering. Definitely a good idea have a look online beforehand if you are someone who likes to take time to decide! All of the food was prepared quickly, almost cafeteria style complete with trays. I had the petite poutine and it's enough for two meals. Obviously the Portugese egg tarts were also ordered (and amazing). I wish we had ordered more to take home! Friends got the half chicken and the sandwich and both enjoyed. Would definitely like to come back and try more items.

The chicken literally melts in your mouth. So tender and juicy!!! The chicken sandwich was well seasoned, the juicy chicken with garlic bread, I have no other words to describe it besides perfect! Definitely recommend trying their sandwich and the poutine! I am very picky when it comes to how I like my chicken cooked, and this place has impressed me with their chicken. Try this place, you will not be disappointed.

Take out process was so easy. You call, get into the Take out line, say your name, and pay. Poutine was so rich and flavourful: generous amounts of chorizo, chicken and delicious gravy. The chicken was perfectly roasted and moist, just missed a tiny bit more of seasoning on the inside of the chicken.

Best Portuguese chicken ever! So juicy! So tender! So flavorful. Nothing I had at the place was even just okay. It is all great! I am sure enough people already praised the chicken, so I will talked about other things. The hot sauce is fine tailored to the chicken. It is not extremely spicy that take over the dish, but charming side character that amalgamate with the chicken. As someone who hate most salad sauce, they have pretty good salad dressing that works well with the pretty heavy meal. The egg tart crust is also lovely. I highly recommend this place! Warning: it is pretty packed and the seats are first come first serve.

Worth a visit to Mont Royal? Yes. Worth waiting in a long lineup outside? Yes. Worth smelling like roast chicken after dining inside the restaurant? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. There's something very special here, where Ma Poule Mouillee turns the humble chicken into a Montreal must visit institution. The chicken is flavourful and tender. The portions are generous. The fries are perfect. The sauce is literally addictive. Everything about this place is an homage to the humble Portuguese roast chicken, and making the elevated dish accessible to everyone. Worth it.

I liked it. The chorizo was so good, and the chicken was amazing. But I don't think it is worth a 40-minute wait. Also, there were too many fries. I wish there were more of the meat.

Glad we “chickened out” and tried Ma Poule Mouillée. With a fun shop name, this is now among the most popular Portuguese chicken rotisseries in Montréal. Despite no lineup in the mid-afternoon, it was still quite packed with happy diners & folks ordering takeout. A whiff of aroma came from the rotisserie as it turned open whole chickens in unison. Staff at the counter happily processed food orders. For takeout, I had their famous poutine with Sãn Jorge cheese, chorizo & grilled chicken. At the pastry display, I couldn’t help but try their Portuguese egg tarts (natas). A collective assembly of the shop’s best offerings! Egg tarts were loaded with sweet doughy custard and a crackly crust composed of flaky layers. The packed poutine was oozing from the container with toppings. Its pulled chicken was moist with seasoned slow-cooked grill flavour, which was more noticeable than the chorizo slices. It blended well in melted cheeses, gravy & spicy sauce over the fries. I noticed the saltiness of Quebec food along with its bold flavours. For $12, it’s amazing that the “small” poutine portion was enough for two meals. Bravo to the owner Tony for turning his passion for Portuguese chicken into one of the most popular cheap eat-outs in town.

We know about this place from the Netflix series, so we gave it a shot while we vacationed here this summer. Nothing fancy about this place, just lots of chicken, lots of fries, lots of chorizo sausages, plenty of cheese, and a bit of green tossed in. We got it. What we did not get is why people is willing to wait in line for a long time to get what is amounted to something that resembles fast food, or at best, food truck food. Most people who waited in line with us were young, they glued their eyes on their phones, chatting up a storm with their friends, so waiting in line was not an issue to them?.. We arrived around 5:30 on a Wednesday night, stood in line for 65 minutes to have a chance to order. Once we placed our order, another wait of 10 minutes. The whole chicken was good. It was better than the roast chicken from Costco. The poutine was decent, albeit a bit salty. The salade matilde was passable. In short, nothing really stood out. The food, over all, is not as good as the hype. Overrated. One of Montreal tourist traps .......

Grilled chicken perfection on Rachel. The service was friendly and fast, and everything was delicious. We had the Portuguese-style chicken with a spicy sauce, that came with amazing fries and a super fresh salad. We went during the afternoon, after the busy lunch hour, so we were able to eat at the bar. Small tables are sparse, so depending on the time, there may or may not be somewhere to sit and eat. It's still worth the visit. It's located across from the famous poutine restaurant, La Banquise, and a few blocks down from Romados.

This is my go to spot to visit every time I come to Montreal. I love their chicken! The way it’s cooked and their Piri Piri sauce. Big portions along with quality ingredients make this a winning combination. Their chicken meal is a must. The portion size is large enough that I can never finish the whole meal and I’m a big eater. The chicken poutine is also a winner. The place is fairly small with not enough seating area. There’s also a guaranteed lineup especially if you are coming around noon. Plan accordingly.

So delicious! We went here because I liked how the fries looked on the photos of the other reviews and were not disappointed. We ordered a large poutine with chicken and without chorizo to share. We finished it but could not have eaten more! The fries were really good (not crispy though), the gravy was so flavourful and the chicken was tender and had a slight roast aroma to it. Loooove! The only thing we were missing was for the cheesecurds to melt. The price for the size is very very fair! And the line goes very fast in my opinion. I would say we ordered within 10 minutes with around 12 people in front of us and got our food after another 10 min. P.S.: we also ordered the chicken sandwich, which is just chicken in a bun and nothing else. It was quite dry, BUT if you dip it in the gravy sauce of your poutine or add some cheese from the poutine, it is delicious!! :)

Friggin amazing. If there is a line outside, it's about five minutes per three people in line. It goes quickly. Perfection of chicken. Chorizo was a little dry. Fries are perfect. Even the side salad is really good. Returned for my second time here, the fries were a bit too crispy/hard but honestly I'm not even sure that's a complaint. If I had one complaint it would be that the spicy sauce just isn't spicy. But I'll live .. Great chicken

If you are in Montreal, this place is a must. The chicken is awesome, the smell is mesmerizing, the portion is generous and you get good value for your money, you always have to be ready for a line up as there is no enough space for the restaurant lovers. Not to mention the poutine serving in this restaurant also is one of the best in town, so don't miss it out.

Direct translation: my wet chicken. Also means my wimp, sissy? Well, there’s nothing wimpy here. In fact very solid food and one of the best tasting Portuguese chicken that will satisfy that hungry hungry hippo feeling you get. Portions are huge, generous. Especially the fries. I repeat lots of fries. Sure, there’s always a lineup but wait time is almost irrelevant for awesome food. Actually, it’s fairly fast. Reasonable priced too. Well done.

Even with a line out the door, their service and attention to making good food was efficient and impeccable! We ordered their #8; poutine with cheese curds, rotisserie chicken and chorizo! I'll be honest; the small is enough to share between two to three people! We had ordered one each, and ended up eating the rest for dinner after a 6 hr drive to Toronto! And mind you, the fries still held their shape (they were not soggy!) They also put a ridiculous amount of chicken and chorizo on top so it is definitely good bang for your buck! We also got their egg tarts which were perfection as well! We will definitely be back to try their sandwiches next time! It should be noted that there is limited seating inside but they have a few benches just outside their side exit so you can definitely enjoy the food on location!

Highly recommend to try this place for poutine. All though it only has one kind the quality alone speaks volumes. It's loaded with plenty of gravy, chicken, spicy sausage and cheese curds. The poutine is made even as well so not everything is at the top where you're stuck with only soggy fries at the end. Place has plenty of room for sitting and was pretty busy when I went around lunch time. Even with a line up the service was fast enough to keep it moving. It's across from La Banquise too which I feel like is way over-hyped.

July 2021 awesome price to portions. The chicken is tender and almost fall off the bone, though the squid was just as good. Lots of fries. Like a lot. Peri peri sauce is good. Had take out and the package was at least 5lbs for 1/2 chicken and squid. Squid was surprisingly tender given this restaurant isn't well known for squid, rather chicken. Located beside a police station. Not much parking nearby.

Best portuguese chicken. Good portions, great value. Line moved fast. Had 1/2 chicken, fries and salad. Sorry about the pic, I hate half first. Couldn't wait! Part 2! Updated Dec 14 2023 Still awesome the best so far in Ontario and Quebec for this chicken! Had roast potatoes this time and dined in. I remembered to snap pics before I started. Go now!

Delicious food, good value. We came for dinner but the line up was too long. So came back again the next day for brunch and no line up. We tried Portuguese Poutine, and chicken legs. Huge portions. Chicken legs came with 2 quarter legs, fries and salad. Very tasty and definitely fill you up.

If you ask me about my favorite poutine in Montreal, that’s where I’ll send you! Although media recommends La banquise, which happens to be just across the street, i tried both and they were very good but only one really impressed me, this one. They do it their own way, you dont have poutine choices, but this one will get you covered definitely: A delicious topping of chicken and grilled chorizo, with a spicy option. They also offer a decent range of desserts, from which i tried the Portuguese Natas, very tasty you must try.

Best poutine I’ve ever had. The chorizo is also very different from the Spanish one. Tastes really good! The chicken grilled on charcoal is just perfect. Even though there is usually a line to order, it’s very fast. The price is also excellent. I will definitely return to Montreal just to visit this place again.

Although the chicken and chorizo was a great addition and tasted great with the poutine, the sauce itself was a bit too normal. The poutine was good, but it was nothing amazing either in my opinion. The fries were a bit soggy and I wish there was also more sauce accompanying the rest. The pastry was also average, but that is not really their specialty. Most of the time, there will also be a line so beware of that. Even though the line seems long at times, the service is pretty quick and the line moves fairly quickly too.

This place is a staple in Montreal. Their chicken is juicy and delicious. Their prices are fair. Usually there is a line of people waiting in front so….you’re been warned. Totally worth it though . Their poutine is the only non-traditional I enjoy. It’s with their Portuguese chicken and chorizo 🤤. Thank me later!

Had a wonderful dinner here, despite the very long queue and very limited seating area. Queued for at least half an hour before we order our food, but it was served quite fast. The kitchen is small. We were visiting Montreal and it was our first time trying. Chicken was very tender and sauce was good. Poutine was very good, unlike what we are used to. Portion of food is a lot for the price. Will visit again if we ever go Montreal again.

Long queues and a bit of hype from previous reviews. The taste of the chicken was a bit underwhelming for me. I got a whole chicken and felt that some of it was underdone. Mind you that I've had portuguese style chicken in the origin country. Maybe they were having an off day judging by its reputation. The fries were their redeeming factor, probably the best in Montreal. I legitimately ate them for two days straight and can't understand how they're still so good and without any sauce.

I got here at 11:45am on Sunday and there was basically no lineup, the store is pretty warm inside 😂 sweating while eating their delicious Portuguese poutine that’s topped with their roasted chicken and chorizo. The chicken tastes great, perfectly moist and seasoned — next time I’ll just get the chicken, I like it more than the rest of the things in the poutine. The gravy is chicken-based and goes well on top of the fries. I found the chorizo to be too salty for my liking.

One of the top chicken sandwiches I've had. Just chicken, hot sauce, and bread. Done to perfection Order it "spicy". They're known for their hot sauce. I'm a light weight when it comes to spice, this wasn't too hot. It's tangy, flavorful, and mixed perfect with the chicken fat.

  • 5/5 Irene O. 2 years ago on Google
Make sure to order their poutine and whole chicken. Also buy their own sauce that is next to the cashier. They also have great pastries, my fave is the the portuguese tarts. The place is small and the lines are always long but its worth it. Dining area is limited so we usually just make it to go. The service is spectacular. We're definitely going to come back again. :)

Come and check this out, we love the chicken salad and the calamari. I think this is good for 3 to 4 person as they have large portion of the food 👍🏻 It’s just that the Latina the food attendant/cashier is not that friendly enough or maybe because they are already busy and overwhelmed by customers. And lastly i think they should put fans/ventilation or do something about thr AC, it is kinda hot inside due to the cooking/prep area.

I used to love this place. They have awesome egg tarts (still do) but ever since COVID, they've increased the price (which I understand, most restaurants increase their price) but decrease their customer service. I went in to get the egg tarts only and were ignored. They served 3 - 4 customers who were behind me, i guess cause those customers also ordered the savory dishes. The cashier was not friendly at all when I said that I just wanted a dozen of tarts.

Really, really awesome poutine! The chicken is moist and tender, it’s incredible. I usually hate chicken breasts because they are dry and flavors don’t get through but this place definitely did it, bravo! Huge portion. Only downside is tiny space :(

The rotisserie chicken here is super flavorful. Definitely worth the wait. Ordered the poutine with chicken and sausage and was not disappointed. Only disappointing factor was that I stood waiting to pay for my order and the cashiers were just chatting amongst themselves while my order just sat there on the counter. It took the other customers to give them the heads up that they had to actually work. After waiting in line for almost an hour the least they could have done was be more attentive to their customers.

This place is so damn good!! Waited in line for about 40 minutes until we ordered. We went at 3pm and there was still a line (Sunday) so be prepared to wait. Also there isnt a lot of space to eat inside so be prepared to eat elsewhere if you are a large party. I got the half chicken (spicy) which comes with fries and side salad. They give you so many fries, it's insane! The chicken was bery juicy and the spicy sauce on top was perfect. Worth the wait!

My wife and I went early on a Friday and I think we were the first one the served that day. Ordered half chicken and poutine with chicken and chorizo. The chicken was very flavourful (and comes with salad too!) Especially with their hot sauce! For the poutine we ordered small but the serving size was plenty. Chicken and chorizo with their gravy and cheese was just perfect. Found it better than the neighbours offer. Cost-wise, we paid $30 and we ended up leaving very satisfied and full. Definitely a must when in Montreal!

Came for the poutine, as we read that it could be an even better get than the local competition. Wasn’t disappointed. Squeaky cheese curds coated in delicious gravy and topped by Portuguese chicken and flavourful Chorizo. Worth the trip to Montreal.

Best chicken I've ever had. The poutine was awesome but filling, lots of toppings. Service was fantastic.

Best Portuguese Style Chicken bot Montreal but the whole of Canada. They cook it rotisserie style but their spices and flavours are top notch and so fresh. The chicken is juicy and succulent and you can het it over fries with a poutine style or with chorizo and thats a massive platter. Their salad and the dressing is very addictive too for whatever and compliments with the chicken so well that brings me to this Montreal food staple every time i visit the great Province of Quebec. Located on Rachel Street opposite of La Banquise the famous 24/7 Poutine restaurant. Its a must have on every food bloggers or tourist list when visiting montreal

Now I see why this place was recommended by everyone online of where to eat poutine in Montreal. I got the small #8 ($14). It was an enormous portion for a small and the container had to weigh more than 2 pounds. The chicken had a pleasant grill taste to it in the cards along with the chorizo made for a perfect meal. The rich gravy was amazing and the french fries held up to it and all the toppings.

“My wet chicken” will make your mouth water. The Portuguese chicken looks and smells delicious as soon as you walk in. They do one they very very well and that is Portuguese chicken and gravy. The “medium” size (they only have small and medium) is massive. It’s just a repurposed takeout container that usually houses a full fish from a takeout restaurant. Their pastel de natas are also sneaky good 👍

Arrived at 8pm and still a long quene waiting in line. The staffs here are friendly and helpful, but the food is not that tasty to me. Poutine is just so so, the chicken is a little bit oily. Egg tarts are good, I prefer the original taste to the coconut taste. The pudding is a little bit too sweet for me. The space is limited so might be hard to find a seat.

Honestly, if you are visiting Montreal YOU HAVE TO try this place. like no question. Poutine, fries and chicken alllll AMAZING. super small area to sit and eat but again, it does worth it 100Million percent.
