I had high hopes but unfortunately it didn’t deliver :( Beautiful atmosphere, location, and decor. The server was very pleasant and nice. The food wasn’t impressive for the price. Started with the Caesar. The house made croutons were very hard and tasted stale. The Lobster Linguine has very little lobster and the sauce tasted fishy. The VP Burger was very good. Juicy and flavourful. I would recommend that! The bread rolls arrived after the main meals and that’s after asking for them twice. The martini had to be returned the first time and it still wasn’t done right the second time. It’s too bad because it’s a beautiful place and the patio outside is gorgeous.

First of all since there is another steakhouse right beside this restaurant, the competition must be really high. We ordered the sirloin surf and turf and also a fillet mignon and a sangria. The server didn’t get my sangria until the meal already arrived, i assume because he’s super busy serving other table which got their drink first. My fillet mignon got burned on the other side ( it looks okay from the top but the bottom one is burned). The lobster and sirloin was pretty okay. The server didn’t served us any bread to start but other table got their bread which is upsetting. At the end when we want to paid our bill, the server gave us the machine and directly said to us “would you like to put 15%,18% or 20% tips?” He even didn’t show us the amount that we need to paid. No privacy at all for paying the bill. We know the curtsy of tipping here, it’s just weird and unprofessional of him to point that. We still end up tipping him well. At this point we might just go to the other place for better service.

Offers classic steakhouse dishes with good service and ambiance. While the meat was cooked well to our requests, the food generally was on the plain side. Everything from the salad, french onion soup, and side vegetables were as much inoffensive as they were bland. Come here if what you're looking for is a decent steakhouse. Unfortunately your imagination might need to fill in the gap to a good steakhouse. The good ambiance may help with that.

I visited sept 4, 2023 at 1:10PM The food was excellent, one the best steaks I have tried in Canada. The salmon felt freshly cooked. That being said, from the start the hostess seemed as though she was looking down on me and my wife. She didn’t even tried to hide the expression on her face. She was just not happy to see us. Then throughout the meal, I couldn't shake the feeling that the waiter was being passive aggressively rude towards us, this attitude significantly detracted from what should have been an enjoyable experience. This review could easily be a 5/5 if it wasn’t because of the service we received. I believe (and surely the owners of the restaurant) that everyone should be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of their background and language they speak. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and work to ensure that all customers are treated equally. Most importantly for a restaurant that serves tourist from all over the world.

The atmosphere of the patio was fantastic. The service was also quick and very customer service oriented. The bread we received prior to the main dishes was a bit doughy and undercooked. Despite this, the rest of our meal was delicious. We started off with the Lobster bisque which was cooked to perfection. This appetizer is definitely worth it. It was perfectly salted and it was nice to see good large chunks of lobster meat in it. The perfect way to start off a meal in my opinion. Following the appetizers, we got the main course in about 15 minutes. We ordered the NY sirloin steak with half a lobster. It was amazing, definitely 5/5. Both the medium rare cook on the steak and the garnish on the lobster were a perfect combination. The service was fast, the front of the house was well organized and everyone from the hostesses to the waiters were on top of their game. Happy to come back to this place and to recommend to our friends and family. 5 stars for me.

Great food, nice vibe on Christmas eve. However the waiter hosted us was a little “aggressive”. If you don’t order wine or desert, be prepared to receive really cold response from him! It could have been a great night but I guess I will definitely avoid here next time.

They have a gorgeous outdoor patio in the back! We really wanted to like this place, but the food was a bit of a dissapointment. Ordered the crab cakes for apps, Surf and Turf New York 7oz steak and half Lobster with mushroom sauce on the side, and lobster linguine. The steak and half Lobster were actually quite good and cooked to order, but the seafood linguine was a total miss. It didn't taste good. Initially served cold, then sent back to be warmed up. Disappointing for a $40 entree. The crab cakes had nice texture and were perfectly crunchy, but could've used a bit more flavor. Service was friendly, but slow and not the most attentive.

Outstanding in every way. I got the 7oz sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. Excellent. My wife got the Chicken supreme, which was also good. The desert though. The apple pie and chocolate mousse cake were beyond excellent. The drinks were a mixed bag: the Jamaican daiquiri was excellent, but the crown & lemonade was just watery tasting. Would absolutely come again.

Our evening at this beautiful establishment started with our party of 14 waiting for over 50 min past our reservation time (8:30pm), all standing (some with heels) at the entrance. We were obviously frustrated and starving. The staff did apologize and offered complimentary Prosecco, but that wait time was unacceptable. Once we got seated and ordered, we basically started eating our 3 course meals at 10pm. The food was actually good. The complimentary bread arrived warm with soft butter, and it felt so good to finally get some food. My NY striploin was cooked to perfection, with a good char. Although a bit too salty, it was juicy and flavourful, especially with the mushroom sauce. The accompanying mashed potato and vegetables were good as well, although a bit simple. The desserts are massive, my crème brûlée was pretty good. I think the pricing is reasonable for the food at this prime location. Our server was exceptional throughout the evening, refilling our glasses of wine and water continuously. Had our reservation time been respected, our experience would’ve been 5 stars.

We have lunch today in the restaurant. The first thing I would acknowledge is that the free bread tastes good and they’re warm when they are served, which totally beat the one we have in Niagara Falls tower. For the steak, Its beef flavor is fresh and the meat is great. The shrimp is also above the bar. Great experience.

Decided to try this steak house since we kept walking past it. The patio (terrasse) was very inviting with the greenery and lighting. We ordered a couple drinks to start. They bring complimentary warm bread to the table. We ordered the 10oz NY strip and the 7oz sirloin. All steaks come with a side of mash potatoes and roasted veggies, and we also ordered a side of sweet potatoes fries. The 10oz was cooked to medium rare and the 7oz to medium well. Both steaks were tasty but a little pale looking and lacked flavour, perhaps needed more of a char from the grill. The plate itself lacked colour and wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing… they say you eat with your eyes first. We got a free chocolate mousse cake as it was my birthday and we let the server know. The service was amazing here and the ambience was incredible. The food was good but not amazing. Overall a great experience.

I give one star not for the food. It's for the restaurant service. We got here at 9:45 tonight, they close at 11:00. When we walked into the backyard garden, there were four girls looking and pushing at each other, not want to serve us, just stand there do nothing. And then another female come to us arranged the table. All I want to say is if the service so bad the food is good I won't recommended.

Monosh took care of us and was very polite and attentive. They were short staff but he managed to cater to our needs and ensured that we got the best service possible. This busboy was great too. They work fast pace but not rushy-panicky. The steaks were delicious, tender, and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were nice. The other veggies were a bit boring. We asked for gravy and it was on the house, pretty sweet! The chocolate mousse and creme brûlée were also on the house and were pretty good. Chocolate mousse wasn’t too rich or filling. My only complaint (and this is very minor) is that the interior is kinda dark. It wasn’t until much later in the evening did they turn the lights on. Other than that, it was a nice dinner experience and would definitely come back again.

Great ambience and good service. We didn't have a reservation but got couple of seats when we arrived. Its a huge place so it was easy to get seats. We ordered lamb chops and hangar steak. Both were served with mashed potatoes and some veggies. Both were perfectly cooked. The selection of wines were good too. We tried a Spanish one. For anyone looking for a good steak this is the perfect place.

I went to Vieux Port Steakhouse last night for my daughter's 18th birthday and this restaurant never disappoints. It is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal and I can't believe this is my first review for them! I forgot to get the waiter's name but he's #535 on the bill if that helps. Excellent service from beginning to end. My friend asked a lot of questions about the cuts of steak and he came back to ask how her steak was, she said she would've have preferred to order it medium instead of medium rare. Without flinching he said he'd take of it and he did, came back with a perfect medium steak sirloin. I LOVE their pork tomahawk. Honestly you can't get a better deal with the size of meat, how it's cooked, and the price. My daughter ordered the steak frites which she loved. I'm surprised they don't use steak fries (came with shoestring fries) but my daughter prefers shoestring anyway. Overall you can't go wrong with this place. It probably beats any other steakhouse in the city and it explains why it's been around for so long. Definitely 5 stars overall, all the time. Thank you!

Fantastic location for any type of celebration. I was celebrating my birthday and we decided to eat in their covered terrace. The food is pricey but the great service (Louie was our server), food quality and atmosphere was worth it.

First time visiting Montreal back in February 2023, and decided to try out this restaurant. The food was fairly priced, flavourful, and delivered promptly. We didn't have to wait long, and everything was fresh. Our server was very professional, friendly, and informative. We are definitely planning to go again in the near future. Thank you, Jo, for the amazing service you provided! We hope to see you next time we dine here again.

Canadians are proud of their beef. This place did not disappoint. The terrace area was perfect for enjoying dinner. The oysters were terrific. The food was excellent. Our service was absolutely top notch. The cocktails we had before dinner were very good. Get the bone in ribeye. It is my go to steak. Wife did the burger and loved it. My daughter got a pasta dish that she loved. Excellent evening thanks to the staff.

Very enjoyable but without advance notice (and without asking, my fault) I was charged $135(!) (Canadian) for 9 jumbo shrimp at lunch ($15 per shrimp - see photo of $135 dish below). They were good but diner beware! I'd ask the price before ordering seafood by the piece. Oysters were very good. Steak was pretty good but not great.

Love it ! We came for brunch this time during Happening Gormand - a limited time of year where a group of restaurants in Old Montreal offers Table d’hôte (for brunch it included coffe or tea an appetizer and a main plate) at great prices - so my comments are about the special - It would make sense to add a fruit salad or a yogurt parfait to the appetizer choices so the mixes are more assorted - otherwise you may order potatoes or egg twice. Everything was d’élisions just the same! The breakfast poutine was really special with sliced roast beef potatoes and a perfectly poached egg!

The ambience was beautiful, we were on the second floor and it was very aesthetically pleasing. The food on the other hand was very bland almost tasteless. We went for #HappenjngGourmand so we had the 3 course meal the best part of the meal was the appetizers we had the soup and the crab cake the rest of the meals were subpar at best. The portion soze was above average but the food was to bland to finish. The service was slow. There were some larger groups around us so they were probably more busy with them but still unbearably slow but at least they were nice. Wouldn’t go back to be honest, not worth the price.

The food was good and the service was not bad but it was a bit loud on the second floor as they had a couple of large groups seating there close to smaller tables. It’s in a very touristy area of town. Really enjoyed the escargot and steak!

Pains me to give less than 5 stars after having previous great experiences. Waiter wasn’t overly attentive as he seemed much more focused on helping another waiter with a group. Ordered the sirloin and lobster and got (and was charged for) the filet and lobster which was fine. French onion soup was great. Lobster was OK. Steak was OK but not as good as previous. All sizes seem to have shrunk by an ounce or two. All in all, an OK dinner

Lovely atmosphere, amazing food. Our server Dimitri was the best! Highly recommend coming for a wonderful meal and to sit upstairs for a great view of the old part of the city. We ordered the crab cake, cesar salad and our entree was the steak and lobster. Everything turned out great! Thank you again Dimitri!!!

We had the pleasure of the Vieux-Port Steakhouse in Montreal last night. It was our last night of a short trip and as with previous nights, the evening was perfect. Audrey gave us a warm welcome, found us a lovely table by the window, even though I messed up the booking and accidentally asked for the bar and looked after us so well. My husband has a quirky sense of humour and loves to tease restaurant teams; Audrey went along with it beautifully and was lots of fun. Thank you too for the interesting chat about growing up in French Canada, and for taking possibly the only picture of the holiday we both liked 😁. The food was gorgeous - we had onion soup and escargot entrées, lamb chops and crème brûlée, washed down with a lovely Sancerre and two glasses of port. Highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner, not just for the food but for the warm welcome and ambience. Hope you’re lucky enough to have Audrey looking after you. Hope to come back some day. ❤️

We had a great dinner here! The food was delicious, server took great care of us. We didn’t want the appetizers, salad, & main course to come out at the same time or too quickly; he paced it all perfectly . The ambience is really nice. We definitely recommend!

Great ambiance, friendly and professional staff, with good food. Honestly the steak wasn’t spectacular or something amazing, it was just good. Definitely didn’t wow us. However the service was good, the restaurant is pretty big and busy it’s a nice place to be. Worth trying atleast once!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vieux-Port Steakhouse, and it was an absolute delight. The restaurant's sheer capacity for 1,200 people might seem overwhelming, but it manages to retain an intimate and inviting ambiance. The stone walls and plush leather seats added a touch of sophistication to the atmosphere, making it a truly unique place to dine. Now, onto the main attraction - the food. My steak was a masterpiece of culinary perfection. Cooked to an ideal medium-rare, it was tender, succulent, and bursting with flavor. Vieux-Port Steakhouse boasts a diverse menu, catering to a wide range of tastes, from seafood aficionados to vegetarians. What truly elevated the experience was our exceptional waiter, David, who provided impeccable service, from his expert recommendations to his unwavering attention to detail. Dining at Vieux-Port Steakhouse was not just a meal; it was a memorable experience that I can't wait to relive.

I had a great steak which was cooked medium and to perfection and the garlic mash was so tasty. I would just say the portions were quite small and would have liked to have more veg. The cheesecake was a tasty end!

We sat in the terasse and it was nicely heated (in September). Situated in the most touristic area of Montreal, even though the food is decent, it is still a little overpriced for quality. You can find better Steakhouses for sure.

Good steakhouse on the historic old port of Montreal. The holiday table d'hôte was decently priced. The entres were unremarkable but the main dish, a NY Striploin Steak, and the dessert, a chocolate mousse cake were great. However, there was a shortage for some items on the menu. Our waiter, Sayed was very friendly and helpful, one of the higlights of our experience. The athmosphere was cozy and not too loud, with a pretty decor to boot. Overall, a good choice for a more upscale dining experience.

Make sure you have a reservation as the restaurant space is tight and tables are very close to each other. It tends to get really crowded in the evenings. Our server was an older gentleman and honestly I didn’t feel like he had the usual Canadian friendliness. It was our first time there and he was all over the place, always in a rush and didn’t take the time to talk about menu or explain anything. At least the food was good and my family and I had a good time.

Indulging in the delectable steak at this restaurant was truly a culinary delight! From the moment I took the first savory bite, I knew I was in for an extraordinary treat. The meat was exquisitely seasoned, boasting a mouthwatering aroma that instantly tantalized my taste buds. The steak was flawlessly cooked to the exact doneness I had requested, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture that left me wanting more. Each succulent slice was bursting with rich flavors that complemented the natural taste of the high-quality beef. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, providing the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. The tasteful decor and soft lighting added a touch of elegance to the meal. The staff was extremely unfriendly; you could sense it the moment you entered. They were impolite, and the service was also delayed. Overall, the food was great, but the service was very, very poor.

Exceptional service!!! Our server Jared was so kind and delightful, we enjoyed every minute! Would go back for the amazing food, but even just for the service!!! Highly recommend.

Our waitress was absolutely horrible. Regardless of there being an obvious language barrier, it is completely unacceptable for the waitress, when askes to explain what their medium looks like, to describe my $70 steak as "you know, medium". When I asked her if it is pink throughout or had blood, they gave me more detail by saying, "You know, it's between well done and rare." It was almost as if she was dismissing the question and couldn't care about our table because we were speaking English. She was rude, didn't check on our table once during our meal, and we had to chase other servers down to ask for items. After all the trouble, my steak came as well done! The manager was friendly, and her English was great, but nothing was done for the inconvenience of our server and a few messed-up meals. I love a great steakhouse and don't mind spending, but this place wants to charge full rate for meals but provide service I'd expect from a fast food spot. We spent just under $700 for four of us, and trust me when I say it wasn't worth it.

Beautiful restaurant with good service however flavor is lacking. Great location Priced for old port, compared to similar restaurants nearby, not priced correctly. All meats came out one temperature higher than requested. Considering staff is all new due to pandemic, will re-evaluate in future to see if food quality improves.

My wife and I had a nice dinner here and enjoyed the historic setting. This is a large restaurant with 2 terraces. We chose the semi-covered back terrace which is quite lovely. The ambiance is perfect, the food is very good and the choice of beverages is extensive. Be aware there are English Sparrows throughout this terrace which can be a nuisance but we did not mind. We had the Lobster linguini which was superb. The carrot cake for dessert is very good too. Our server was gracious and helpful. Our only concern was that his mask didn't cover his nose. Vaccine Passports were in full effect which was appreciated. As Ontario residents they accepted the Ontario documents and photo ID. Come prepared or you will be turned away. I highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant when visiting Vieux Montreal!

An excellent steak (and lobster for me) restaurant which is on par with The Keg's prices but I actually enjoyed the food a bit better. Perhaps it was due to the large beautiful terasse that this restaurant bolsters with the ability to seat many patrons outdoors. One terasse is street-side on the cobblestones of old Montréal, the other is a garden terasse with lots of privacy and foliage. The steaks were prepared to order, very delicious and the accompanying fries I chose were actually quite delicious as fries go. Patrons are required to fill in a covid contact tracing form on an iPad and the washrooms were very clean. They were however up a large staircase and I am not sure if they have a wheelchair accessible one. The dessert, creme Brule for me was de-li- cious!! Huge portion. Good food, good service. Good overall dining experience.

Finally Montreal restaurants opened and it’s the first day we gonna celebrate this day, we wanted to go to Keg but it was closed till 4 pm so we went to steakhouse, i love what I ordered but my friend, she didn’t like the taste of red sangria and even the taste of steak but i was ok with my meal and Jo served us in the good way, very helpful and good advice to choose wine and dessert, we both ❤️ cream brûlée with the flame 🔥 on top 😋🥰🥰🥰

We ordered the Santa fe chicken , the lobster bisque and the VP burger. The chicken dish I highly recommend. Also you cannot go wrong with ordering fries here. The fries are like an elevated version of McDonald's fries cooked and seasoned to perfection. The lobster bisque was average. The restaurant is conveniently located in a great area which allows for walking afterwards.

Great spot for groups and Its a must try steakhouse in Old port, great vibe, multi floor and antique decor. For people not eating red meat, you have good seafood choices.Their salmon I tried was over cooked and presentation was flat.Crabe cake was delicious.Little bit Pricey $$$ for what you get.If you order any of their great steaks make sure to ask for their Black Pepper sauce as it’s not given by default…Great wine card and Dessert cart is stacked with good choices.

We went to The Old Port Steakhouse for Sunday Brunch. For years prior, they used to have the best buffet and impeccable service. We have been making a point of visiting every time we visit Montreal. My husband took me there when we dating, 20+ years ago, to give you an idea of how long we have been going to this restaurant. They no longer serve a buffet, which is fine, but the quality of everything has just evaporated. This is how they served my tea. A cup of hot water and a bag. I had to put the bag in. No container for the used bag. Lucky I had a bread plate. Look at the breakfast poutine. Does that look like cheese curds to you? To me it felt like a shredded cheese. Oh, some how my second dish, cut fruit, went missing for a bit. I did get it, eventually. The server barely talked to us. We were offered no refils on coffee or tea. Another table ordered mimosas and ten minutes after the champaign was delivered, someone though to bring out an ice bucket for the botlle. The water waiter, though, was amazing. Kept refilling pur glasses. I used to recommend this restaurant. No more.

The service and steak were good. Unfortunately, there was a fly around the table, I don't know if it's always like that or just a case. And except the steak, the sides were taste bad. The salad was bitter and I had to ask for more sauce to eat it. For the price ($50+) I expected a better dishes.

We had a wonderful experience here and definitely recommend. Alain was absolutely fantastic as our server, knowledgeable and just an absolute pleasure. Pre-dinner cocktails were well made. The bread was mouth watering and warm. The oysters were magnificent, my ribeye perfect, as was the striploin. The wine Alain suggested was wonderful. Would return without hesitation.

What a huge and beautiful facility. We ate from a limited menu and the food was below average. Very poor service. We had to ask multiple times for about everything. Service was also slow but the kitchen seemed timely. Wait staff could not describe the main dishes or side dishes. Very unprepared. The proper wines were not served. Simply a mess.

The rib-eye was a bit more cooked than I expected, but as the steak was very juicy and tasty I kept it and was happy. The winter forgot our appetizer, but offered us to bring it for free or a desert. The Lobster from the grill was also great.
